Taking all the information from your W-2 and entering it online can become a pain, especially if you have more then one source of income, but TurboTax has gone above and beyond this year, and made it extremely easy to file. I like to put mine off until around October personally, but if you are the sort that actually gets a refund, you may be keen to get things going. TurboTax has announced a new app for Android devices called SnapTax that allows you to do your taxes directly from your Android smartphone. The app only works with filers that need to use 1040-EZ forms so if you need other forms you are out of luck. The app is actually pretty cool. It allows you to take a picture of your W2 and the important details that you need to plug into the tax forms are automatically extracted from the photo and put into your forms. Then you answer questions about what you do, and you can file your taxes and save them in PDF format.

The OCR failed to read most of my W-2. The program let me input everything but then would not complete the last section. It also did not seem to support direct withdrawal and would have required me to mail a check for state, if it had let me file.

I used the turbotax website online last year and did it using Snaptax this year. I'll know for sure when I get my return, but I have no reason to doubt I'll get the amount promised!
