The best Android apps are getting harder to find in the increasingly crowded Android Market. We're here to help as we test and rank the top applications available for Android phones. When T-Mobile launched the very first Android-powered handset – the G1 – back in 2008, the app library to go along with it looked like a minimart beside Apple’s Walmart. But the past few years have been kind to Google. The steady release of high-profile, high-power Android handsets like the HTC Droid Bionic, Samsung Galaxy S II and HTC Evo 3D have turned that initial drizzle of apps into a torrent. Now with over 250,000 apps and counting, Google’s Android Market offers applications for just about everything – sometimes making it difficult to choose. With that in mind, we’ve rounded up what we think are the best Android apps in several different categories to give new users a rough guide

There are a lot of Android apps available for watching website video feeds, music videos, movie trailers and so on. So many, that I can’t imagine trying to put together a DroidWars about them. And while the Market is almost equally saturated with apps designed to bring you some sort of television related experience, very few deliver up-to-date (let alone up-to-the-minute) content reliably. So I think I should be able to pick out a handfull of my faves. I like watching television programs on my mobile in bed at night and started out on a quest for the best software to facilitate that about a month ago. I’ve downloaded countless apps from local news networks, independent artist collectives, popular cable stations, and other, focused outlets. But the appeal of those apps is very limited and I wanted to find a program – or programs – that would give me variety, reliable

A new app in the Android Market provides a method for watching television on an Android device. SPB TV delivers digital TV programming from channels that represent several countries and languages. For the one-time price of $9.99, users will be able to watch channels in major US markets, international news channels, weather reports, and music videos. SPB also offers a free Lite version but it features only a few channels and omits many of the major networks you’re probably interested in watching. A 3G or Wi-Fi connection is necessary to take advantage of the app as intended, but there is an option to watch lower quality videos that stream more easily. After testing out a few channels on the Lite version, I must say that the footage streams quite well on Wi-Fi (haven’t been able to check 3G quality just yet). There are a few Russian and other international stations I’m

Posted by Comments SPB TV is a highly usable IP-TV solution, optimized to run on mobile devices. Spb TV provides users with lots of channels in multiple languages with easy-to-use features and settings. No subscription fee! Requires a reliable 3G or WiFi network connection for proper streaming. Price: Free, $9.95 SPB Software ported their amazing mobile television software to Android! Now you can watch TV on the go without a subscription, only one time fee. There are many channels to choose from, though you may not find your cities local channels. The app features Picture in Picture (PIP), TV Guide for the day and week (where available), easily exports show reminders into your Google Calendar with reminders, and adjust volume and brightness. In the free version by default there are only 5 channels available, which is not enough to entice buying the full version (hopefully SPB Software can make some improvements there). Once you have

You run a sync service once app is started. Sync service is needed? Prove it. Sync service, even if needed, never stops after app exits; reported.
