I recently noticed an influx of funky old-timey photos on Facebook. After asking around, it appears that most people I know are using Retro Camera. According to Urbian (the developer), the app lets you take “delicious old-school pics your friends will drool over” and it delivers an “off-the-hip analog look.” Now, in general I consider myself to be pretty cool, but I am a far cry from a hipster. I own neither over-sized 1980s glasses nor a t-shirt depicting three wolves howling at the moon. Regardless, I felt compelled to give it a try. Hate to post a negative review, I really, really used to like this ap ans used it loads. After the most recent update it dies and nothing I've tries makes it work again. Tries to email developer directly, but no response. Poor show.

I LOVEEE this app, but I recently updated it (yesterday 5/1/12) and my app is no longer functioning properly. It doesn't auto adjust and every time I take a photo the app causes a "force close" because the app has "unexpectedly stopped". Please fix ASAP! can't function w/o this app!

6 cameras, all very different from each other. images can be manipulated further in instagram for really nice layered effects. Super app... with a cool widget too!

First, I never knew I could used so many cameras with just using my camera phone. The Little Orange camera is my favorite, as it imitates the torn pages effect in photoshop. The photo effects can pass for scrapbooking art. Compared to Lomo Camera, Camera Effects and FX Camera, this app has a considerably fast image processing and can save on high resolution with a limitation of saving just a square image. For a photo enthusiast like me, it's a plus to see my phone can do more.

Wish this app ran more smoothly. Its a bit herky-jerky. Crashes 30% of the time and runs very slow. NOT an app for catching the "quick shot" For artistic purposes, it's awesome. Just make sure your subject remains still. Changing the app name to "Antique Camera" would be more accurate.

There are so many other new types of camera apps (Instrgram for Android even just came out today) that do a lot better then this app. It's extremely sluggish and slow to respond. The wait time on pictures is annoying and was the last thing in deciding to replace this. Luckily there are camera apps out there that work a lot faster and listen to their customers a lot better then this one. Pixlr-o-matic is just one of them. I suggest looking for another camera app. This one is very outdated and runs like one of the cameras it simulates. Uninstalled very happily.
So far I love it. Each camera has an area it's perfect for. A few of the pictures I've taken with it are my facebook profile pictures.

I like this app. Takes really cool pictures. Only thing wrong is one of the cameras out of the five will not save pictures when gallery is uploaded. A bit annoying. Can't figure out which one it is but I know each time I take photos some go missing. Could have a faster shutter but I still really enjoy this app. Thanks!..and will hopefully be an update to correct the little stuff.

You can't even see the live preview before you take a picture, it's about a 1 inch square... makes taking pictures kind of useless if you can't tell what your picture will look like until after you take it. Would it be that hard to add a full-screen button???

Good app- works well on ipod Downloaded to Samsung GT 1550 but no buttons at the bottom to change cameras or access gallery or to change between black and white and colour. Stuck with just the Barbl camera face and shutter button. Hopefully this is a glitch that can be resolved.

I use HTC ThunderBolt and it shuts down often. I tested on iPhone and love it but couldn't work well on my phone. It seems heavy for anything. When I took a shot and check a photo, then it can't show up. please fix it.

I've had this app for a couple of years. I've taken amazing pics of my kids, had them blown up and framed. I get compliments on them when ppl come over. I also used it to take pics at a local living history farm, again blowing this pics up and lining them in my hallway, they really look vintage! I love, love, love this app!

Great free app! Takes great pictures. No functionality problems that I have encountered. Good for people interested in vintage cameras. I wish that this app could take regular camera images and apply the various camera effects to existing pictures, rather than having to take each picture within the retro camera - i would like to be able to go back and turn images I took before installing the app into "Retro camera" pictures!

Pics are great! UI is pretty but difficult to use. The viewfinder is miniscule. They would rather you see the body of the camera and try to use a viewfinder the size of a postage stamp than give on the graphics but overall a solid, free app.

It won't post photos to Facebook. Instead it redirects to another site where you can see a thumbnail. Emailed pics are tiny attatchments so it's completely worthless if you want to share your pictures. Also, when the app is open, the ads are embedded right next to the shutter button so it's easy to accidentally redirect yourself to an ad, which is truly frustrating when you're trying to take a pic. Overall, disappointing app. Stick with Hipstamatic, superior to this cheap knock-off.

Works great on atrix 2. Lovely UI. Takes great fotos and supports full 8MP resolution. So far no crashes or problems with taking the fotos and i upload them via gallery. 4 some reason upload via app does not seem to work on my fone - will keep trying. Would like to see another camera added soon. How about adding the diana, a booth camera, fisheye or underwater camera! For a free app it is great! Will probably purchase eventually. I give it a 5/5!

The pictures are better quality than the built in camera... I think it'd be pretty rad if there could be a feature to add the effects onto pictures without taking them on the camera. If that makes any sense? :p But this is really my favorite app! Use it all the time:)

A great selection of vintage cams. The photo quality comes out great. An update which allows FLASH would be perfect. This only seems to be useful during the day. Other than that, its a great photography app to play around with.

Ads included one the looks like a Facebook link, but actually goes to some scam site. Also, ads are placed in such a way (next to the tiny "use this camera" button) that its very easy to click on them accidentially (i.e. click baiting)

This app is really awesome when it does work. I suggest using this app with higher powered phones like the EVO. With other slower android phones I have witnessed people have loading problems and even epic failures with this app. That being said if they iron out the issues with this application it will be perfect. Great for any photography enthusiast.

It's certainly no Hipstimatic for iOS, but gets the job done. It needs a definite update to add more filters and camera options in order to get a 5 star rating. Also, please UPDATE viewfinder - it needs to have the option to change to full screen so you can actually see what photo you are taking better.

Being tied to such a horrid interface and not being able to export images into the gallery is a major let down. It might float other peoples boats but it definitely could do with a major rethink on the interface and give us the freedom to share the pictures how we want.

The camera works great- it does exactly what the description says it does. They come out so well. The problem I have this is with sound- I try to turn off the shutter sound in settings, but it doesn't work. If there is anyone who can help me, I would very much appreciate it.

The interface is beautiful - each "camera" has its own look, and you review shots pegged on a "line". The results are realistic too. I really like the 35mm sprocket-hole look of the pinhole. The options are useful - silent shooting, setting a hardware shutter button, etc. The quick operation seals the deal. True the view is tiny and there's lag (Optimus One), but this is a phone after all.

I hate the new update and now on facebook my photos don't save! You can only view them larger on the website and not on facebook, very aggrivating. Please go back to the old way so I can share my entire album instead of just one photo at a time!

Great results Great free app! Takes great pictures. No functionality problems that I have encountered. Good for people interested in vintage cameras. I wish that this app could take regular camera images and apply the various camera effects to existing pictures, rather than having to take each picture within the retro camera - i would like to be able to go back and turn images I took before installing the app into "Retro camera" pictures!

Often the pictures turn out very dark. Adjusting the brightness ruins the pic and makes it blotchy. Cool effects if in bright daylight outdoors.
