I have been informed that the following apps have added support for Presto:
- BeyondPod Beta (not on Android Market)
- DoggCatcher
- PodTrapper
- Pocket Casts
The Presto developer is a different developer from those applications. Those developers are not responsible for Presto's implementation, bugs, or cost.
Presto is still in beta. Bugs are listed at the end of this description. Please e-mail me if you find new bugs. I apologize for the lack of updates; I bit off way more than I can chew this semester. Work is ongoing, but I can only spare a few hours at a time on some Mondays. Please be patient.
Apps using Presto must be restarted after upgrading Presto.
Download problems are a problem with the Android Market, not with Presto. See these pages for potential solutions:

For developers: See the home page for nearly drop-in code that replaces android.media.MediaPlayer, using Presto when available, or gracefully degrading to use the default Android MediaPlayer when not.
Known bugs (please e-mail me if you find any new ones or any of these impact you too severely; I have no means to respond to Market comments). Asterisks (*) indicate bugs that have not been observed in a while; please e-mail me if you encounter them so I can confirm they are not fixed.

Remember that sending an e-mail is a lot more likely to get a problem fixed than anything else (such as posting a comment).
Recent changes:
Fix force close on Android < 2.0. This required adding the READ_PHONE_STATE permission.
Add some logging when decoding errors.

Great with beyond pod! I love how this shortens my listenenig time on netcasts without pitch change. Only gripe is that it complains about the license about once a week.

Drains battery 423% faster!! ...even at 1x playback speed. No updates in forever. Do NOT buy if you use on battery power...or until they fix (doubtful).

Not for every phone... Presto didn't like my rooted HTC Incredible (original) w/ custom kernel. It rebooted my phone even when not in use and had minor playback issues w/ BP, so I had to uninstall. Your mileage may vary. I plan on trying it again in the future w/ perhaps a different ROM & kernel, which seemed to be part of the problem. Doesn't look like the app is developed much, which is disappointing. In all fairness to the dev, he did look into my issues and was very responsive via email. It sadly just didn't work well for me.

This + BeyondPod = perfection! Works fine, great support from the developer! I couldn't get it to work at all at first. I emailed the developer and got a reply back very quickly.

Works great! Speed audio up or slow down at will. This is a library that Doggcatcher and other top podcast players use to offer variable speed playback. Works great. Play 3 podcasts in the normal time of 2. I use it all the time, so the price is well worth it to me.

First podcast I tried didn't work. Was told faster playback not supported on 'TWiP' a photography podcast that I like. 0-1 is a no good record in my book.

expensive but the only option for speedy playback I've wanted 1.5x playback speed for podcasts for a while and discovered this. Using it in conjunction w/ Doggcatcher. It works, but lately playback abruptly stops or just now it made the phone reboot. Would like it to be more stable.

Works fine, great support from the developer! I couldn't get it to work at all at first. I emailed the developer and got a reply back very quickly which pointed me to my problem (the Market had Purchased the library but for some reason it had not downloaded and installed it). Once I managed to get a successful download it works as it should!

Finally got rid of my iPod Using this in combination with doggcatcher, and I am finally rid of iTunes and my iPod. Other implementations are buggy at best, and useless at worst. This works very well (with some infrequent hiccups), and finally gives me the 2x playing that I needed. Well worth the money.

Using with DoggCatcher, works, with comprimise Someone here noted the additional battery resources used by this app. To put that into perspective, for 1 hour of use Presto used 11% of the battery while doggcatcher only used 2%.You will sacrifice your battery for your time. The app doesn't multi task well. When you switch to another app, say maps or google voice, the audio will not stop but it skips. This is a great first step and I proudly support this initiative for android. It does work and that's the main thing to take away from this review.

Works with DoggCatcher amazingly! I barely notice the speed difference when I'm listening to podcasts at 1.1x or 1.2x, but I'm able to squeeze an extra podcast episode or two into my commute!

Fail With PodTrapper No matter what I try, every time I enable Presto and try to play something in PodTrapper, I get this error message: Received error from media player: 1,0 (I've also shared this information with PodTrapper's developer.)
