Pandora Internet Radio is a great way to find new music on your Android tablet. You input a song or band you like, then Pandora creates a “radio station” based on that information and starts playing songs for you, for free. Hit the “Like” button on songs you’re into, “Dislike” for songs you’re not, and Pandora curates the list to find tracks you’ll enjoy. The app functions pretty much the same on tablets as it does online or on smartphones, with one notable exception. The larger tablet screen makes reading information the app offers about different bands and songs extremely easy and enjoyable. You can learn quite a bit from the info Pandora offers, plus photos and album art look great as well. While not really different from its small-screen counterpart, Pandora continues to bring lots of new music to listeners for free, and it’s hard to complain about that.

First, and perhaps most obviously, from what Nielsen Smartphone Analytics have come up with after metering thousands of Android smartphones, the average Android smartphone user spends 67% of their on-device time, or 56 minutes per day, on apps, while 33% of their smartphone time is spent on the mobile web. I was about to embark on a three-and-a-half-hour trek home to Connecticut from Maine after a beach weekend. I had two youngsters in the back seat and, my wife and I would quickly discover, no food. But I had gadgets, and I had apps. And I was about to find out if they could mollify an 8-year-old boy, Luca, and an 11-year-old girl, Juliana, more effectively than snacks. A little preview: if you have a BlackBerry, pack lots of snacks. An Android requires fewer, and an iPhone (or, better yet, an iPad) may completely replace road food, if you choose your apps well. My general philosophy is that staring silently out the window is one of the more rewarding uses of brain power. But when that gets old, the children’s bickering gets loud and you notice that two nearby drivers are engaged in highway texting (for real), philosophy does not help.

Music subscription services never quite struck gold with Internet users, but now that the smartphone is becoming the era’s standard listening device, a new gold rush is on. Established music services like Rhapsody, Pandora and Slacker continue to improve mobile service, but they are suddenly facing new mobile music competition. Depending on a person’s phone, budget and listening habits, the new services may be a better call. The services seem to be converging on the same target — namely, apps that let users hear personalized radio stations, build play lists and store songs for offline listening. No service has all of these features for all mobile platforms, but they are making progress. Don't misunderstand, I love the app and subscribed to the service. Also bought a year for my love. I just don't understand what information its sending. if I have downloaded 56 megabytes of music Pandora uploaded 50 megabytes of data. Google music does not do this. I'm on an unlimited 4G data plan so I'm only concerned for those that don't. Also I wonder what's being sent. And when I use Pandora drains my battery other than that great app! Fix this and i will up the stars.

I've been a Pandora user for a long time now and always listen to this app when I want variety in music. The only suggestion that I have is when I press the skip or thumbs down, I would like a small pop up block that asks me whether I'm sure or not. This being because sometimes those choices are accidental and I wish that I hadn't pressed them sometimes. So please help me out creators of Pandora radio! Other than that, I LOVE IT! Peace

A good improvement would be to make the navigation buttons on the bottom. Thumbs up and skipping a song is hard to do while driving. I wouldn't mind if the album art was smaller. Everyone locks the phone and doesn't look at it anyways.

THE BEST (FREE) MUSIC APP EVER! For those of you complaining of load times and commercials, its not a problem with the app it's obviously your connection/and or your hardware..... My wife and I both use this app and have NEVER HAD A PROBLEM! My wife uses on her Samsung Charge, and myself, Samsung Nexus, both which have a 3-4 second load time between songs and occasionally a commercial. We also both use on our Sony smart tv's, NEVER on any of Are hardware have we EVER had a problem, whether or not we're using 3-4G, WI-FI, or hardwired. I highly recommend this app to anyone who loves music, we simply love it and use it nearly everyday.

I'm uninstalling pandora today. It was the very first app i got when i bought a smart phone there years ago. At first, there were small banner ads and maybe a commercial here and there. Now, it's almost a chore to listen. Full screen ads that you have to dismiss before listening, video ads that are hard to get rid of, ads that they give download priority to over your music, stopping it mid-song. Sorry pandora, groove shark is just better now.

I purchase the year-long Pandora service ($30 for a year? Can't remember) and have this app on all my android devices and NookColor. I have many of my "stations" and have never been disappointed in Pandora. The music selection is great and the number of available station categories is great, too. You don't have to have a paid version of Pandora to use this app. The free version is what I started with and since I like it so much, I purchase the version that I renew yearly.

Pandora on my computer is great, but on my phone, not so much. The program takes way too long to load stations or even to load between songs. It will often go silent mid-song or not start a new song when the current one ends. So basically I get a LOT of dead air. My service provider says that they can't trouble shoot these problems, but it is not a data issue on their end. I guess I just have to stop using this program, which sucks because I enjoy it.

Hey this may seem really far fetched but what if your pandora listeners had a way to forward songs to other pandora listeners. There are so many songs I hear that I would like my friends to hear to but I end up getting off of pandora to go on youtube for a song that sometimes isn't there. Also when we choose to create another station how about the choice of wether we want to play that station now or later. Just a couple of thoughts. Pandora is a great app to have. As expected, Pandora has created a generally good app. However, a few bugs stand out as problematic. The biggest one is that there seems to be an issue with selecting a channel from your existing list. Often when selecting a channel, a different one than selected actually plays. This leads to the second glaring problem, the entire app locks up while it buffers. So when the app errors and selects the wrong channel, you have to wait while the app buffers to try again. Very annoying.

Just had to ruin it...this used to be one of my fave apps! Then the songs started skipping themselves, starting and stopping in the middle of songs, and the load time for the songs is absolutely ridiculous, and that's with a FULL signal. Please get it together!

I loved this game when i started playing it. Then i noticed a few issues: 1) Doesnt go beyond 99 turns 2) Words are repeating too often 3) Pen size defaults to fatter line width. It should default to smallest line width Please update these issues and the game will become the 5 star game it would deserve.:-)

Would be great if there was a list of the songs you gave "thumbs up" to. So that you can remember or back track to the songs you really enjoyed, but can't remember the artist or song. It would be beneficial to the listener and the artist.

This is a very strange app flaw... When using Pandora, on my Droid Bionic with a wired headset, my phone is unusable. Pandora plays music just fine, but God forbid you want to like or dislike something. The phone itself completely freezes. If you listen to Pandora through Bluetooth headsets, this does not happen.

Pandora used to work GREAT my phone! I loved it! However, now for some reason when I'm using 3G, it will only play 30 seconds of a song, then it changes to the next track. No idea what's up, but I've been having a lot of issues with this app. However, I find that when I connect to WiFi songs will okay as normal. This is extremely annoying. Please fix or I will continue to tell people how dissatisfied I am. Will use iheartradio app instead.

It worked fine when I first downloaded it for my HTC Incredible. For the last 8 months though Oct barely used it because it doesn't even play thirty seconds worth of the song before skipping to the next one. I've tried everything from restarting the app to uninstalling it and redownloading it. Very disappointed

... this stupid thing stops buffering whuen the screen locks and, as I understand it, you have the screen lock setting which just keeps the screen on to allow it to buffer... Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but why can't I just lock my screen and keep listening to music? It doesn't make sense to me.

Why in the world however would I want to pay $4 Per month for an upgrade when really all you get out of it is not having to listen to a 30 second or so ad every so offen. I would consider an upgrade only if there were better benefits than that. (like getting to hear a song more than once if you like it...they say they pay per song played so what's the difference if I listen to the same 5 songs over and over again or listen to 5000..pay for song regardless...)

Pandora is awesome love the app but it works so much better on iOS than on the android platform... you can bookmark songs or artists but you cant view your bookmarks on a mobile device and you can flip back to an artist or song on iOS not so much with the andriod

I gave it two stars as it functions as it should from a technical standpoint (didn't crash, etc). However, the app is full of very intrusive and excessive ads. Seemingly everytime the screen is touched (changing tracks tracks, volume, etc), a new full screen ad pops up in the way. With this amount of advertising, one would expect that from a content standpoint the app would at least be able to deliver. Wrong. Only so many songs can be played before the app becomes useless. But wait, there also commercials in between songs. Just why exactly can Pandora NOT be able to offer a non-limited content stream with that sort of advertising revenue stream? There are far too many restrictions on this app. Comparing this app to the big name alternatives like Slacker and iHeart (which deliver unlimited content with little or no advertising), this pathetic app falls far short.

Earlier versions seemed more stable on my samsung exhibit II 4G. Sometimes it stops playing about a quarter to half way through. I never had a problem with older versions which seem more stable.

I absolutely love Pandora internet radio. I stream it on my Motorola Photon at work when I have the patience. I usually have to run to the back a couple times an hour (at least) to restart the app because it magically quit. I have a stable internet connection there, so I don't know what the deal is. It's worth the great music, but I'm sure the customers get annoyed when their hairstylist leaves mid cut to fix the dead silence.

I emailed a dev. The permissions are "Calender" for setting events and "contacts" if YOU CHOOSE to send them to people. It doesn't do things by itself. They are options you are given and have control of. Stop crying unless you have all the facts.

Pandora works with my Bluetooth again since the newest update. :) LG Revolution....The only way I can get this to work on my Bluetooth in my car since the update is to ... connect to Bluetooth. Start Pandora... go to preferences ... log out.. then sign back,in. And it should work until you disconnect it. Can you fix this Pandora?

It does have a decent selection of music, although I do hear songs twice and sometimes 3 times. No options to customize quickmix and cannot change ratings. I clicked the thumbs down trying to thumbs up and removed a good tune from my playlist without being able to change it back. Sometimes it does cut out songs but it seems to come and go in spurts. I can jam all day without one song skipping and then all of a sudden every song cuts off in the middle one after another. Ads are fine esp after pandora is free

Pandora in a nutshell, a song you really like comes on and then all of sudden, buffering, buffering, 3%, 10%, etc. For those of you who aren't familiar with my description of Pandora , you'll understand within the first hour of listening. It used to be an excellent app but now, ummmm not so much.

Classical music is so atmospheric and very often quite relaxing. Be prepared for loud and "in you face" audio ads at 5x the volume of your music. Modern music is a little louder than I'd like on the lowest setting. For the same volume with solo piano music you need to set it to about 75% and then you ears get absolutely blasted by ads. Not to mention the half screen visual ads...I'm actively looking for an alternative service.

Pandora played great on my phone until I did the latest "Update"...now it stops playing right in the middle of a song and the song has to be skipped in order to get it going again. It does this consistently with every other song. Whereas you're only allowed 6 skips an hour I'd say I get to listen to about 5-6 songs before my skips are up. And I'm a paying customer...lame :(

Good app, would love for it to have some of the more sophisticated features that are available on the PC version. Such as, "I'm tired of this song" Find myself listening to my stations more with my mobile device than with my PC and it would be nice to be able to have that free range of customization that I had when I created the stations.

Every time I turn it on, it feels the need to tell me it uses excessive data, couldn't care less as it's running on wifi, but no way to turn warning off. Just tried to start-up Pandora on my Samsung Continuum Galaxy S and received an error: "Unexpected HTTP error occurred code: 403 while StartupAsyncTask" with an OK button. Hit OK and the app never makes it past the startup splash screen. Tried restarting the phone, no help. Tried updating to the latest app, and I get the same answer. I emailed Pandora about their requested access to our contacts and files. They said they don't data-mine. It's used to share songs and may ask to add events to the calendar.
Keeps freezing and bookmarks can't be accessed not good. OVERALL good app but lack of access to bookmarks a failure!

I've been listening for an hour straight and have heard three full songs, four advertisements, and numerous songs for the first thirty seconds. This program is one of the best!! As an HTC EVO user, I haven't experienced any problems or issues with its ability to deliver a fluid product. It's end user driven and on point with its delivery!! This is a great music app but they play the explicit version of alot of songs and censor them. Since swearing is the backbone of my speech I would prefer the explicit version but if this is gonna be a child friendly app you might want to play the none explicit version instead of just cutting half the lyrics out of the song. You play the none explicit version and you will get 5 stars. You play the explicit version and don't censor it and I will buy the pro app.

And since I DO subscribe, why should you halt my music if I don't do anything with Pandora for a couple of hours? That's ridiculous. There is a lot of people complaining about buffering. First of all you just set the quality to low and it will run fast and smooth. Also you can just get on wifi if you are near it. And the delay between songs is about 8 seconds! If you can't wait that long you need to practice with your patience.

I guess it's hard to complain about a free app that does it's job well but there is one thing that drives me nuts. I'm not sure if it is due to a network problem or my phones hardware (Moto Atrix) but it will occasionally have a streaming problem and have to rebuffer during a song (not a huge deal...) but then after reconnecting to the stream will just blow away the song I was listening to and jump to the next song.

The Bad 1. When starting the app, it freezes, so I need to restart it again. 2. About 30% of the time, it stops playing after each song, so I need to turn the phone screen on again, and wait for the app to pick up signal again. 3. Ads on startup screen take a while for it to realize you've selected "No Thanks" a few minutes ago. 4. Ads in the app are so big, they cover up most of the artwork image. The Good 1. Clean and simple UI design. 2. Sound quality is fine. 3. Most artists' information is available.

I have pandora one and I love it, works great on my android phone (t mobile my touch slide) on my ipod touch and of course the website is awesome. If you are complaining about ads, just pay for it, 35 bucks for a year is a steal, and u get rid of all the ads. If u want it free then suck it up and enjoy the ads!

I love listening to streaming music while in the car, or even at home. And I have quite a few apps for that purpose. I have IHeartRadio, Radio.com and TuneIn Radio for streaming stations (I'm a bit of a radio geek!). As for the customizable services, I tried Slacker, and while it was good, I still came back to to the original. Pandora is the whole package! Good sound quality and few buffering issues. Only beefs are repetition with some of the more obscure artists and a few obnoxious ads. Still, great app!

I have used this app on Apple IPhone 3GS (ATT) and IPhone 4 (VZW) and it was almost flawless. I can not get it to play more than 2 songs in a row without it pausing and it says "Loading". Please FIX issues with Android OS!! I love the app on other platforms!

I purchased the Pandora One account because of one specific thing. When I listened to the app for an extended amount of time once. The app had a pop up window that stated something to the effect of "If you aren't listening anymore, consider closing the app because we at Pandora have to pay for each song played". I found the honesty endearing and I spent the $36 for a year of Pandora One. Well worth it. High quality streaming, no ads, and it seems to work WAY better now (probably just in my head).

I have used this app on Apple IPhone 3GS (ATT) and IPhone 4 (VZW) and it was almost flawless. I can not get it to play more than 2 songs in a row without it pausing and it says "Loading". Please FIX issues with Android OS!! I love the app on other platforms!

Pandora is my favorite way to find new music to listen to. It's user friendly and does exactly what you need. The app, however, could be a bit more versatile.. i.e. it'd be nice if there was a way to view your bookmarks, profile, other users' profiles, etc. Other than that, it's great!
