Google has updated three of its Android applications today, which include Maps, Listen, and Goggles. Both Maps and Listen bring small but it Goggles seems to have received most of the attention. In a nutshell, here is what all three updates bring to the table: Google Maps: Google Listen: Google Goggles: As you can see, most of everything added within the updates are rather incremental but that’s not to say they aren’t helpful. The new Google Maps feature that will adjust to Night Mode once you enter a tunnel is a very thoughtful addition on Google’s part, and Listen’s audio focus bug fix will surely help many who use it. As for Google Goggles, the application is pretty solid on its own, so any update is a good thing. The same goes for Google Maps. If Google were to Ice Cream-ify the Listen app a bit, I’d probably use it a

Google updated its podcast client for Android – Google Listen. As far as I could tell there are no visible changes except that reference to the now defunct Google Labs was removed. Other than that, it’s the same app that allows users to listen to the podcasts while on the go and that sings along Google Reader. As a big fan of Google Reader, I love Google Listen. However, just because it works for me, it doesn’t mean it will work for you as well. Quite the contrary, there are many other, much better options out there like BeyondPod and Stitcher Radio. Guess I’m an old school guy who loves having all of his RSS feeds managed from a single location – Google Reader. If you’re just new to the podcasting, you’re better off picking some other app that allows you to more easily manage your subscriptions right from the phone.

Well look what we have here, Google appears to have rolled out an update for the Google Listen app. And for those who may have forgotten about Listen, this is a free app pushed out by Google that will allow you to “search, subscribe, download and stream podcasts.” That being said, it had been so long since we last heard or saw anything change with Listen that we thought it had been abandoned. Anyway, that thought aside, while Google did offer an update for Listen — it remains a mystery as to what has changed. According to the Android Market listing, the app has been update and is now at version 1.1.6 and will continue to work on devices running Android 1.5 or later. As for the changes and the “what’s new” — this is simply noted as having “no recent changes.” Bottom line, while we may not know what has

Yesterday I talked about 30 essentail apps I installed on my brand new Samsung II. Today I want to share my home screens with you. As a productivity freak, I’m constantly trying to get more things done during the day and in that sense I organized my phone’s home screen, as well. The 4 home screens I’m using should reflect this… or so I think. Here are the apps and widgets I use throughout the day, hence they are promptly placed for quick access. Widgets: Apps: Apps: Widgets: Apps: Now I want to know how your home screen(s) look like. Which widgets and apps do you use? Google as an app developer has released various applications in the Android Market and some of these come pre-installed on most Android devices – like Gmail, Google Maps, and Google Search. But others have to be downloaded from Android Market; we have compiled a list of these apps that have been developed by Google. The number comes around 40 apps, although we have tried our best, but we might have missed a few. But not all applications are available in every country and every device; some are regional apps as they support only certain languages or certain apps might support only few device types. So, the best way to check if one of these apps is available in your country is to go to the phone/tablet based Market app and try searching for that particular app – if it comes in the search results than you are good to go. Listen is a Google Labs app designed to help you get on top of, and stay on top of, a steady diet of podcasts. As a beginning podcast subscriber I found the app cleanly designed and easy to use. The first thing you'll see when you start using Listen is a screen with the search box at the top and four menu choices below: My Listen items, My subscriptions, Popular searches, and Recently played. To get started, you can either search for podcasts you've heard about by name, or search by subject to find podcasts that you might be interested in. You can also hit "Popular searches" to find out what other people are listening to. I started by searching for comedian Marc Maron's podcast, which I had heard about from a friend. Listen couldn't find the podcast, even when I spelled Maron's name correctly. I found it easily in iTunes.

Google Listen has been out for several months and it finally received a much needed update. The latest version 1.1 has a greatly improved subscription manager which keeps the feeds fresh and it integrates directly with Google Reader. Users can now listen to and managed their podcast feeds directly from their desktop browser and everything automatically syncs with the new Android client. If you want to try out the latest version of Google Listen, subscribe to our BlogTalkRadio podcast. You might be able to find our show by searching for Android or you can manually add our podcast feed. Overall the user interface feels a little tighter and it is easier to navigate. I use Google Reader all the time, so I like being able to see my podcasts while I am in the browser. There appears to be an issue with all the podcast icons loading, but Google is aware

Podcasts are a great way to listen to and keep up with the news, entertainment, and commentary floating through the world. I’ve recently been going without my MP3 player, so it’s become necessary for me to make my Android device subscribe to podcasts. There are a number of ways to subscribe to podcasts on an Android device. The easiest and most hassle-free is to use apps like BeyondPod, DoggCatcher, FeedR, Greed, Listen or even iTunes. Here are a few tutorials for beginners looking to bring podcasts on the go. Some podcasts stop playing when you navigate away from the player. There’s a simple workaround for this problem: When a downloaded podcast is playing, press the Menu button and then “Add to Playlist.” Create a new playlist called “Podcasts.” Now, open your Music app and load the “Podcasts” playlist. Voila. – PC owners who already use iTunes to download podcasts can bypass

Google has updated its Android podcast app Listen to include several new features, namely the ability to sync and manage podcast feeds through Google Reader. The previous version of Listen required users to search for feeds every time they switched phones or performed a data wipe, which can be particularly annoying for people who frequently change ROM’s or reset their phone. Version 1.1 can now store those podcasts in Google Reader and quickly sync them whenever necessary. Take advantage of this new feature and subscribe to your favorite tech and sports podcasts. by The Android Market may still lag behind the iPhone App Store in terms of variety and quality, but there is something to be said for the Android operating system’s extremely tight integration with existing Google products, and the wide choice of devices and carriers. There’s no question that the iPhone has many wonderful apps, but Android’s smart syncing with existing tools, interesting Android-only experiments coming every day from Google employees, and its open marketplace model have yielded some tools that may give the average iPhone user pause. If you’re looking for a change, or you’re in the smartphone market and still weighing the pros and cons, consider these Android-only apps and how they might fit into your work, play, and mobile lifestyle. 1 of 5 There's no denying that the iPhone OS is a gorgeous piece software. First I love that its free but I've tried it against other apps like BeyondPod and that is when the warts become apparent. It does not have to be pretty but it should be functional. 1) no categories, everything is in the same list. 2) frustrating button placement. When trying to configure/copy my existing subscriptions over it takes a lot of menu navigation. Way too many. 3) dodgy subscriptions. For inexplicable reasons I cannot get certain feeds to register. It works and then suddenly it doesn't. Items in my-subscriptions don't refresh. 4) no indicator. Would be nice to be able to have an OS-wide indicator of the current downloads and even a space management tools. 5) built in search doesn't find feeds I know to exist I really want this to work because podcasting is internet 101 and I'm pretty sure Google has the chops to make this work (like their Reader product).

You know, I like google listen. I'm just sick, absolutely tired, of this app constantly stopping playback because I'm running another app. Yes this app is in beta/experimental stage, but there has been no major update in ages & this needs to be resolved! 3 stars until this is addressed. UPDATE: 1 STAR! In the past 2 minutes this app has stopped 5 TIMES while I was using the browser. Lord forbid I would want to multitask with my smartphone!

Google should be embarrassed by this. They post specific design guidelines for Android, but don't follow them in one of their official apps? It looks like it hasn't been updated since 1.5. It's sad because I'd really like an official, integrated, well-made app for podcasts.

Please add a sleep timer. p.s. - most of the complaints I'm reading in the reviews are due to user ignorance/error. Like "it only finds episodes, I can't subscribe to podcasts". If this program is too difficult for you, look online for instructions, or ask a child to help you.
Michael
Get network error for many of my subscriptions. Cant seem to fix. Whats up? Good when working, but not impressed so far.

I installed this app to manage podcasts I've been downloading manually but it can't find them. This app is so useless I'm uninstalling it. Come on, Google - you have a great search engine available. Get it connected!

I appreciate the use of this app on my Galaxy S2 & Galaxy Tab. But for some reason it never works my Asus TF201. One would think that the newer OS would present less trouble.
Jeff Schnitzer
This app utterly fails to do the minimum necessary for a working podcast listener: IT WON'T DOWNLOAD PODCASTS AUTOMATICALLY. When new podcasts become available, I want the software to download them to my phone and have them available for me to listen when I have time. This doesn't do that - it seems like it's supposed to, but it's either too buggy or too poorly designed. Even if you tell it to download podcasts explicitly individually, it's *very* flakey about actually doing so - upon any error (say, you went out of wifi/service range temporarily) it just gives up rather than retrying. This is the single most frustrating piece of software on my android. It's an embarrassment.
Lew
...with its incessant stopping for no reason. If I listen to a two hour podcast, I have to unlock my phone at least 5 times to get it playing again. Icon disappears from notification view despite still playing and it seems to forget which podcast I was listening to and starts another! Integration with Reader is great but the other hassles are infuriating.
dizzi90
Needs the following: - Share function. - The ability to play video content. Admittedly youtube can do this, but there are vodcasts out that that are not mirrored on youtube. If a content provider does not agree with the terms and conditions of youtube it should not affect the users who want that content. - Copy link to episode as URL (preferably as goo.gl link) directly to clipboard. - Quicker bug fixes and stability updates. I know there's a lot to do and it's not the main priority, but it needs doing. Listen related improvements for Reader: - Improve the Google Reader audio player so that it's more appealing to listen to podcasts in the browser. Either that or make a separate webapp for listen. - Listen feeds should be possible to exclude from the main feed in Google reader. As of now I cannot use the Next bookmark, because it might leave my podcasts as listened to. This needs to be fixed one way or another. Also: Proper holo theme.

You know, I like google listen. It's a bit more complicated with having to have an rss feed rather than apple, but I hate apple. I like to listen to podcasts and I could listen to stitcher., but streaming while on the go is a pain. I'm just sick, absolutely tired, of this app constantly stopping playback because I'm running another app. Yes this app is in beta/experimental stage, but there has been no major update in ages & this needs to be resolved! 3 stars until this is addressed.

Downloads media well, and automatically. Would be nice if there were a setting to ask before deleting downloads after playback. Sometimes I fall asleep. This option would work like a sleep timer.
Alicia
I love this app. It's the best android podcast app out. All my shows are organized and queued up. The only problem is that the search function is dismal! It's probably difficult to organize feeds but the search just doesn't work. It couldn't find Nerdist?? I can't wait to see this app grow and develop because I do love it, and will keep using it.
pub lord
The UI is hectic. Does not have categories, podcast out of date, can't tell when a podcast is downloading, limited library. I can go on. Do a search for one item and it gives tons of irrelevant results. Does not have Espn PIT. Itunes podcast puts this to shame. Really Google.
K
Excellent clear, uncluttered interface, intuitive and simple to use, only misses video support. Other players seem needlessly bloated and overly complex in comparison.
Andhi
I've been searching for a while for a decent podcast manager on Android but haven't found one. My biggest beefs with this is that there is no lockscreen functionality and the search function is awful (example: searching "BBC friday night comedy" doesn't yield the Friday Night Comedy podcast). How the search can be so bad from Google I don't know. Android really needs a podcast player with lockscreen controls and some way of sharing unplayed/played info with iTunes.
Tex
This is the best podcast app I've found, but the search function is horribly lacking, especially given that this is a Google product. Even manually adding feeds for subscriptions doesn't always work. Please fix.
Alanna
I use this every single day on my commute and it never lets me down! Simple, great functionality.
Joseph O. Hughes
The great things about the app are that it's lightweight, syncs with Google Reader and works well... albeit with a major bug that stops playback every so often for no apparent reason. The interface is unintuitive and now more than ever needs some love from Google to get it to meet the current Android developer guidelines. Unfortunately it looks as if Google is not that bothered about bringing this app up to scratch.
AS
This app works for the most part, but is not as good as apple's default podcast app - iTunes. Google should fix the following: Deal with errors on downloads Organize and categorize podcasts in different ways so that you can listen to multiple episodes of one feed and see all of the episodes you saw (also allow users to write notes about specific episodes) Let people know about popular podcasts or other podcasts they might like More control over which episodes to download / delete.
Ethaniel
Once you get it going with Google Reader this app is pretty good and really all you need for audio podcasts. Which raises the question as to why Google just doesn't roll Listen's functionality in to Reader (especially as plugins and background playback is broken in the latter). However, since this is a Labs project still, I unfortunately have the feeling that what it does will never be built on and the app will be eventually axed as a failure (which would be a shame).
Justin
But not great. Would love to see lock screen widgets or track controls while device is locked as I use the app while driving and hate having to unlock, go to app, and pause or skip track while driving. Podcast search doesn't come up with anything useful so be ready to manually add all your feeds.
Miles
I'm not why the developers can't fix the bugs in this app, there are little things that go wrong (it rarely remembers what you were listening to unless it's top of the queue for example) that make using it vexing sometimes, but for the most part it's the best way to listen to podcasts on an Android. Would love to have controls on the lock screen, like most music apps do. As other people have pointed out, the search in the app is next to useless. It will return a hundred seemingly unrelated podcasts before one with the exact title you typed in. I manage my subscriptions through Google Reader, there's no way I could do it within the app.
Fredrik
I've grown tired of the bugs and lack of development. Instead I installed Doggcatcher which I found to be slightly confusing first. A couple of days later I really like it and I can strongly recommend doing what I did! :-)
ARavital
Only shows podcasts from 2 years ago. Search for Marketplace, and listen to what was news in 2010?
jr
It's amazing Google put there name on this app. Error every time
Cedell
A very good app. It wants to stream, which is philosophically different from most other podcasting apps on the play store. Could really use a gui overhaul though.
Ben
I love this app, but I think it can be better if you could add the plus one button to it. Also I'd like some way to star or bookmark podcasts. You could sell this data to podcast companies! So it's win win!
magic
Just not a fully devellped app yet. Search usability is awkward and they don't seem go have many podcasts, or maybe I just cant find them. Errors with playing as well.
megan
Results just say over 1 month ago. That's a pretty big range. I want current Or at least a clue about original podcast dates
dfs
All I can think is Google is scared of being sued by apple, so they've decided to keep this as basic and useless as possible. player has no features, no onscreen or lockscreen control. No directory, just search; How wonderful if podcasts were in the play store like books.
Eric
Google listen does not automatically download the newest podcasts, completely defeating its purpose.
Juho
I can't recommend Listen. It's buggy, including basic things like occasionally losing all buffered data and restarting from the beginning, or stopping playback when the screensaver switches on. The user-interface is incredibly cumbersome especially when it comes to downloading something for listening offline. It's also pretty annoying to have most basic functionality hidden behind the menu key. And most importantly, this seems to be mostly abandoned software. It hasn't even been updated for ICS almost half a year after that was released.
pub lord
The UI is hectic. Does not have categories, podcast out of date, can't tell when a podcast is downloading, limited library. I can go on.
Woil
Search is terrible. Integration with Google reader means that I accidentally "read" things I haven't listened to. Often loses my place in the podcast. Often doesn't play when skipping into the podcast. No ability to bookmark, or speed up playback. In short, terrible.
Ruben
Pretty bad considering. Others like Beyond Podcast much much easier to navigate and to find/setup podcasts. Step it up Google!
huntken
No widget, no ICS features... come on Google!
Eric
The app is very versatile, has plenty of features around auto update/ download. ICS has changed the Bluetooth control of play back and now Bluetooth headsets don't support play/pause. Would be great to have high speed playback but this is not supported.

This feels like it was written by an intern in a couple weeks. I found a handful of bugs within the first couple of minutes. The assets look terrible on the galaxy nexus and the alignment is off in a few places. Come on Google, this app has potential. Maybe give it two or three interns this summer for a rewrite?
joshdahl
Devent player. Very hard to figure out how to operate. Not onyuitive at all. Also the absolute worst search function. You cannot search by title.
Rudy
Love the app but I would prefer it to be combined with Google Music so that podcasts and music were in one app.
rrobe
Works well, integration with Google Reader is nice. Needs updates, there are bugs since almost a yera: 1) Playback notification icon often disappears, so it's hard to control playback. 2) Doesn't always remember correctly the last podcast you were listening. Interface could be improved. Since 4.0.4 I suspect it drains more battery (with media server) Nexus S, 4.0.4
yipeedog
Exactly what I needed when it worked, but now constant sd card write errors have made it useless. Better setup than any other podcast player I have come across but I'm to the end of my patience with the bugs. Have reinstalled numerous times, just doesn't work anymore. Please get this fixed Google, its the best player available when working.
Santi
Made simple search for podcasts and it takes me straight to episodes (not the podcasts I would like to subscribe to) It seems you don't understand what Podcasts are and how the experience should be. Go back to the drawing board please.
Chris
Generally works when your phone is standalone, but simply gives the error "No SD Card" when your phone is plugged in, rendering it useless until you unplug your phone. Also, the Google developer originally working on this has moved on, so this app hasn't received any updates in a long time. The main reasons I use this app are 1) it's free, and 2) it syncs with Google Reader allowing me to easily import and organize my podcasts via any web browser.
News
Why is this app so bad? Difficult to find, play and delete. Random downloads. So user unfriendly. Stick to search Google.
Ivan
Works well... But issues with pause and resume. If i pause it and close the program, upon return the podcast shows as 27 hours long, andstarts from the beginning, with the fastforward button jumping backwards rather than forwards.
joes
Good but would really like drag and drop on the playlist screen.
David
Works well, really needs to be integrated into the Music app though. Both almost have the same icon. Also needs lock screen controls and better options for finding podcasts to subscribe to.
nghodder
Good app. Would get 5 stars if it didn't randomly pause every so often for no reason.
Ahmed
The audio keeps shifting forward the beginning of the audio is pushed to some point forward in the episode.
Nick
I really like the interface of Google listen, but the application itself is rather buggy. The worst of the bugs is having downloads fail if you go from WiFi to 3G. Second is if you start listening to a podcast before it has finished downloading, you will likely experience glitches in the playback. This means there will be short sections of audio that kit skipped. When this happens there is a quick distorted sound. Third is that Google Listen fails to always load all the avail podcasts of a show. This is really annoying when starting listening to a new podcast and wanting to listen to back-episodes. This appication needs updated. The Google team seem to be ignoring it as far as bug fixes go. I assume this is because they have some other solution planned for the future. But as it currently stands Android is the worst platform of all the current smartphones for listening to podcasts. Both Microsoft Phone 7 and iPhones have built in solutions for listening to them (with companion software for managing them on the desktop too) that far surpass the Google offerings.
rwhillrunner
Still needs a notification method for when new podcasts are available. Either a status bar icon or, preferably, a notification like Reader has that shows the number of unlistened podcasts on the shortcut. Otherwise, it's a great podcast catcher.
Bruce
+Works well...if app new to you also able mng ggle reader feeds from there...-doesnt let me navigate within playing clip...also qstion ggl privacy ^s
vtabota
The biggest issue is it forgets the podcast episode it was playing last time. Shuffles episodes. No lock screen controls. Good: has option to only download over Wi-Fi, only while charging.
Ramesh
Not even close to iTunes. For instance, you can only navigate a podcast if you have the app running. It also stopped updating my subscriptions.
jason alfonse
Wont save ne subscriptions, makes my phone restart, never remembers anything its supposed to.
Nuno
I thought this played and made finding podcasts easier . You have to search for podcast. The search totally sucks. Hello Google I thought u were a search company. Please add some way to list podcasts and I'll use it. Use apple iTunes and Miro as an example. Thanks
Eddie Rotten
You'll have to take an extra shower after listening to our show because of this app! THE DIRTY ROTTEN SHOW (RATED R)
Symmetry
Sort of like a more cumbersome to use version of Podkicker. I'd much rather have the podcasts I want downloaded automatically, but if I have to select them one by one I don't want to have to navigate through menus when I do it.
E.A
Interface isn't groundbreaking either.
Phil
Works well. However the search is pretty much useless, so adding podcasts manually is necessary.
David
Wanted very much to like this app, but there are two major problems: 1. The app seems to be written as if you always have a data connection. While it downloads some content there doesn't seem to be a way of reliably telling it to always download certain things while under Wifi coverage for listening later (say, in car or at work). This makes it almost useless for a tablet or anyone who has a limited data plan. There are some limited controls in the Settings area but they are too vague and don't seem to have the desired result. There seems to be no way to tell what episodes are available and what episodes aren't. ** This is a show-stopper. ** 2. The search functionality is very hit-and-miss. Of the 30 or so podcasts I follow, I had to type in at least half the URLs. Finally, the interface doesn't make good use of the screen. This needs to be re-thought out: maybe the intent was to make a dumbed-down player for novice users. Still searching for a good podcast player on Android.
Kardrath
Galaxy s2. Randomly cuts out mid play back. Not too annoying when walking around on headphones but a nightmare when using Bluetooth in the car.
humpynzl
I love this app but I wish there was a mechanism similar to the Audible's Whisper Sync so that the positions in partially listened items could be shared among devices. Other than that I think it's great. I've probably used 5 other Podcatchers, but Listen has been my app of choice for 2yrs now.
Den
I love this app since I am a podcast junkie however one feature I would really like to see added would be the ability to resume on a desktop where I left off on my phone. ie: listened to point 15:24 on phone would resume from this point in google reader (why cant I mark old episodes unread?) or new yet to be invented google web app specific for listen. Still I would 100% recommend this app it just has a few frustrations that have yet to be worked out. Cheers, Keep up the updates! (please) ;-)
Daniel
Come on, it works, then it doesn't...love you Google, but why isn't this integrated onto the Google Music Play app. Windows phone 7 and iOS have been doing this for a while. Get with the program!
David
Works well to find and download favourite podcasts. However please add function not to automatically play next file when current one ends. Also please allow sync between devices.
siameye
Does a good job of downloading my podcasts but lacks a decent UI and enough options. There are options for how often to update, what to download (newer than a day, a week, two weeks) also how many (total) episodes to keep and download only when connected to WiFi or when charging. There's an option to delete podcasts that you skip but not ones you've listened to. The search function is very poor for a product from Google but it is easy to add feeds to your Google Reader account (and then check 'Listen Subscriptions' in the 'Feed Settings' drop down menu), they appear almost instantly. Playback controls are adequate but more options needed, eg the ability to play just one feed or one podcast (currently it continues to play the whole queue). There is no drag/drop function in the queue either (but you can move items to the top or bottom). It really needs a widget on the lock screen as currently you have to unlock before you can pause playback and on both my devices (Galaxy S2 & Tab 8.9) the headset button starts my media player in addition to the podcast! I will keep using it, it's free, it's simple, it does most of what I want and (hopefully) the updates will keep improving it.
Bender Griffin
Have to delete cached items manually. It would be nice to be able to removed played items and old unplayed items automatically
Karen
A simple fix to the search engine would make this app great, but the way it stands, you can't even find the podcast you're looking for even if you know it's name!!
d@n
Sadly, Listen has not fixed its horrendous pausing problem nor added a single new feature for nigh on 18 months. I must reluctantly give up.
Good program but it needs a more enjoyable interface. It force closes with every click of the back button and everytime I reaccess it.
James
I like the fact that this app is free and syncs to Google Reader. It also has a simple to use interface. However, syncing podcasts doesn't work very well. I've had major issues when I've started a download over 3G and lost signal, then couldn't resume it. The worst part is I couldn't even delete the download and try it again, the app just treated the partial file like it had completed. I had to delete the file from the SD card and also wipe the data for the app, completely resetting all of my listened items/queue. At least it kept the podcasts subscriptions though since that came from Google Reader. I've been looking for the source for this app to try and work on it some but haven't been able to find it. This app could be great with some work.
Tony
For the most part this app works pretty well. There are some minor issues pausing for long periods of time (over night/at work for the day) where it doesn't resume where I pause it, but that's easy to work with for now. Needs better search and organization of queued items and more features.
Dylan
Search results show things from years ago. There's no recomendations, featured, etc. This app is just a search engine.
James
It could definitely be better but I think this is the best free android podcasting app. It'll sync at various intervals, and it can be set to only DL over WIFI. Actual playback and queue works fine. Search works most of the time for me, but about 10-20% of my podcasts I had to go find the rss feed and import it. For some odd reason, if I run this and waze at the same time, listen will pause playback after about 30 minutes. I can go back in and start it again, but wtf. No ICS interface (i.e., long-press still brings up a popup menu), which for being from Google is another big wtf.
Andy
I use it over WiFi. It does not retry failed downloads. It often fails to download for no obvious reason. Navigating around it is painful. After some months, I still struggle.
Nir
Please fix the subscription and queue settings. No problem with daily shows, but some weekly shows produce a few items in the same day, and by setting the queue to a week all is well, EXCEPT Listen doesn't remember this setting (I need to set is again every week)
Jon
I really liked this app and used it all the time. I like the Reader integration and the organization. But ICS changed the Bluetooth control variables, and now I can no longer control the app with my Bluetooth headset. Major bummer. I've switched to BeyondPod but am keeping an eye out for when Google updates this to match-up with their own OS. Kinda sad that didn't come right away...
T
Buggy with crap search. Starts by itself when I adjust Bluetooth car control, or other Bluetooth object, while playing Amazon music player.
Jason
Only has the most recent episodes of podcasts. Will list all of the old episodes. But, won't allow you to access them. Why bother showing that they are available at all?
Nikolai
After several weeks I still can't figure out how to get Listen to play what I want every time. The interface is confusing and what seems to be a deliberate feature frustratingly seems to progress automatically to another podcast when finished playing the current one, even when not queued. It's the best tree option I've found though!
Matthew
Great for subscribing to podcasts found on the web and for storing content for later listening. There are a few things I'd like to see sorted out, though. There is a glitch where ongoing notification disappears while playing. The Subscribe / Unsubscribe button in a list of episodes doesn't seem to do anything - you have to be in the screen for an individual episode for it to work. A broken download just refuses to play and has to be erased with Menu->Remove Download: surely this could be automated.
Holdfast
I have tried iPods and most players but this brats them all. I set up most things in Reader and this app just works! Very good that it tries to keep downloads on wifi. Also good that it allows me to override that as I have a proper unlimited allowance. Safe but flexible.
Jon
I like it. Wish it responded to my Bluetooth device's commands and used lockscreen controls. UI is not too intuitive.
Andy
A search engine is nice but it's be nice if it featured popular podcasts too. Also doesn't bring up as extensive results as zune software or iTunes. "We're Alive- a story of survival" is a very popular radio drama that doesn't show in the results. Shouldn't have to manually add it.
MORT
Overall I am very happy with this app. A few features would greatly improve my experience though: 1) widget 2) notification bar when running (it seems to pop up only occasionally) 3) ability to resort queue (specifically long lists enqueued from a subscription seem to be added in wrong order such they they play from newest to oldest) and 4) search list of known podcasts. Thanks for the development!
skyler
Occasionally stops playing mid-podcast. Searching is pointless but just clicking the RSS feed of your podcast in the web browser allows you to subscribe. Could be more elaborate but for free it's suitable and I use it 1-2 hours 5 days a week.
Ryan
Great app, but it will quit when running in background for no apparent reason. Not a team issue. Galaxy S 4G
minnesota.shocker
Really like the app, but has started crashing and restarting my phone. Happens a couple times daily when running in background or when screen times out. Droid x
Ian
It's been the same app -- and quite limited -- for at least a year. Add features... something like iTunes' smart playlist to organize new podcasts...
Matthew
The podcast search is horrible. I end up having to just use google reader site's directory search that actually works... It also wont show any subscriptions unless they are in a folder literally named "Listen Subscriptions." I found out the hard way when I named it to "Podcasts" and all my subscriptions disappeared from this app. Disappointed Google...
Rob
I've been using this app for over a year, and it's just not tolerable. Seriously, wtf google
jacoby
What I really want is to have fuller Reader integration, by which I mean I want to be able to share and star podcasts like I would any other thing in Google Reader.
Nic
Did work well, but now stops loading podcasts at between 1-4 mb. Time to look for a new podcast player?
Joel
Very unintuitive interface, doesn't conform to the typical UI standards in other Google apps. It's very poor by Google's standards. It's apparent this project is low priority for Google. It ought to mature alongside Google Reader since the two products are tied together, but that isn't the case.
Matt
Half way through a podcast the phone shuts down. Doesn't happen with any other app. Worked perfectly on my old phone with 2.2
Shane
App itself works fine and could find all podcasts I listen to but the app was quickly draining my battery even when closed with app manager. MT3G 2.2
shemethy
I use this every day. Keep up the good work.
Roland
Failed downloads hard to recover. Starts playing randomly. Queue vs subscribe confusing.
Patrick
Google, you should be setting examples of good UI not this abomination. For listening the app is good because it doesn't hog resources but other than that, I didn't like it.
z
Adding subscriptions from external apps when the subscription already exists causes force close and eventually corrupts the DB to where you have to uninstall and reinstall.
Darryl
Gets force close every time it tries to dl a podcast on my mytouch-q
bader
Very bad app. I cauldn't listen to any podcast due to an error.
J
Prevents Bluetooth control of the Google Music app. Prevents lock-screen audio control of Google Music app. 02/03/2012. Galaxy Nexus.
macritch
Disappointed I could not subscribe to video podcasts.
Morgan
Latest update has stopped it working on my HTC G1. Crashes and have lost all my downloads & wont download anything else. When it did work it was fine.
Belinn
Episode number not displayed while playing. Cant make it fetch new episodes. Cant usefully jump forward or back. Is this really a google product? It sucks
googed
Doesn't load new episodes, not as accurate as iTunes search function which I use to find podcasts to add to 'Listen'
Otto
Listen and other apps stop playing randomly when installed. Search web for more information. Would be great otherwise.
Rod
Can't find any recent episodes from npr.
jake
Latest news casts are more than a month old. Don't waste your time
nick
Great program, but a little buggy: downloading is unreliable, the order in which things are played are nothing like in the queue, search is useless
Nicolas
Easy and fast.
Louis
I like the integration with Reader; however the application is still buggy. 4 stars if you fix the dissapearing notification icon; 5 stars if you add a widget.
Angelina
This thing sucks crap. Keeps fore closing. Sucks. If you want to upload this, DONT.
Daniel
Every stream says error unable to play :( looks very nice though. Optimus S
Jose
Simple clean interface. easy to subscribe to podcasts. no ads! minus 1 star because intermittenly the podcast stop midway and other times skips to next podcast. I think it could be a bug. Other podcast apps i use: Kera, stitcher.
Cellomj
Search function is terrible - wish they could improve that. Should be better coming from Google.
Jub
I will always be faithful to you, Google, but I must be blunt. The quality of this app isn't Google quality. You can still recover: update! :P Excuse my writing style >30mg addy + THC
Jeffrey
... how about a "download all queued files" button or option? It is nice to queue things up but downloading one by one is painful!
Nathan
Love it, would be even better and 5 stars if it had a broader selection
cwilkie
First week I ran the app, it worked great. After a week I get nothing but an err message
Tofu
After the last update, the playback will randomly stop for no reason - sometimes as often as once every minute or so (no task killer installed, no root).
Brandon
No longer picks up audio files in most RSS feeds.
Jared
Fixed the problem with playback pausing when device goes to sleep.
diwakergupta
* The UI lacks polish. Icons are low res and pixellated. * Search is still broken. Try searching for "global news" or "forum" and you'll see what I mean. For comparison, do the same searches on iTunes. * UI is confusing. Subscription, Queued items, Google Reader integration -- too many concepts with very little clarity. * Buggy: once I added subscriptions for "KQED Forum", and "NPR Fresh Air", the app didn't add the most recent podcasts to the queue. Instead, I had to manually click "more episodes" and then mark all episodes as unread and then add to queue. The overall user experience is just incredibly poor.
kpm
Please add a sleep function to listen to podcasts when going to sleep, when you don't want the phone to play all night.
Tom
I'd never expect anything associated with Google to be so hopeless at searching but it really is! Radio 4 is chock full of podcast feeds and this app can't find a single one within the last 6 months! Uninstalling now. :(
Paul
Does not recover well from interrupted downloads, like when you move away from WiFi range. And how can it need over 6 meg data storage in internal memory when the downloaded files are stored on the SD card?
Ryan
Randomly stops during playback. Highly annoying. Please update UI for ICS Google!
Matreyu
Great app but needs widget on unlock screen. I don't understand why ppl are complaining about FF and RW, it does have jump forward and jump back. Update: It's been a year and a half since my review and I'm still waiting for lockscreen controls. Just saying.
Andrew
Quite confusing UI. Can't get it to automatically download new episodes in background no matter which combination of options I try
Michael
I really like the idea of Listen: it integrates with Google Reader and simply subscribes to podcast RSS feeds. Several things still need improvement through: the search function is not adequate, and sometimes podcasts fail to download even when they play fine within Google Reader.
Angus
Thank god for this app, ease of podcast subscription was an embarassingly high factor in why i used to have an iphone. This app makes android so much more enjoyable.
jb
Googles podcast app need improvement. Its free which is nice. But it doesn't automatically download audio for me and when a download error occurs (lose converage or walk away from wifi) it doesn't recover and I end up with half of the audio.
Jarrett
But it is pretty poorly organized, somewhat hard to use, and has some really fatal bugs
Dan
Works fine with a couple of caveats. I would like a way to exit the process. You can pause a podcast; but there is no means to completely exit/terminate the app. In my case, I paused a broadcast and switched to another audio app. When I quit that app, Listen automatically continued playing the broadcast. More disconcerting: I have it set to sync only when on WiFi. However, I happened to notice that it used 38MB of cell usage one day. Again, I couldn't exit the app so it continued to download. HTC Liberty
Steve
This app really does need to be fixed. Constantly has errors with playback and queue. The resolution of the icons are unsightly. Google needs to either properly support this app or axe it in favor of Google reader with caching/downloading of audio podcasts.
Derek
Biggest issue is that it will not resume down loads after a timeout. If I change the data connection from 3g to wifi or to 4G the download has to restart.
Mendy
The Google Reader integration is priceless.
Daniel
Another thing is that this is way too strict with audio feeds which means it won't find audio for podcasts that do have them. See all the smodcasts.
Dustin Hess
Worked well on my droid, however, on my galaxy nexus, the back, pause, and forward controls don't work over bluetooth. Using it in my car with ford sync. These controls worked with my OG droid, and they work in Google Music, so the blame seems to lie on listen.
Juri
Simple interface. Robust features.... And for free!
Natalie
It offers a good choice of podcasts, but the interface can be confusing and I would prefer it to feel more like a library. More seriously, it often loses track of the place in the podcast and starts skipping about ten minutes in.
Timothy
Won't sync new episodes no matter what I try. Won't delete older podcasts no matter how many times I try to delete them. Bad effort google.
Shawn
I've been using this since it came out. It has frustrating desisign flaws that apparently won't ever be fixed, but the GReader sync is brilliant.
Scott
I actually kinda like this app, but it has several big problems. First you have to use google reader to get your input your podcasts because its search engine is amazingly bad. And you can't select the folder you want it to download podcasts to which probably isn't a problem for most people but since my phone has an internal and external sd it won't save to my sd card.
Ryan B
Maybe too simple, ie could add more features, but everything works well, and is easy to use. If you get errors it can be because the podcast has been taken down by the host.
Amar
Continually runs in the background eating battery. Also has no way of stopping after current Podcast but continues straight on to the next one.
Michael
Subscribing to a podcast doesn't automatically add new casts to your queue. Also, inevitably 30 min. in to any podcast, the app stops playing, and requires the user to open and press play... GNex ICS 4.0.2
Richard
UI a little clunky at times, especially in ICS, but does just what I want. Indicator looks really dated, and doesn't integrate with the lock screen like the Google Music app does; actually maybe this apps capabilities should be subsumed into Google Music.
Complete
I was so excited about this app. It had great reviews, it looked simple to use, and best of all free! However, my experience has been poor. I can download the entire episode of a podcast and almost every time it will just stop playing at around 10 minutes into a hour long show. I came here to look for an update but since there isn't one I'll just remove it and look for something else that works.
mediatedthought
Too buggy to use. Stopped refreshing podcasts days ago. No solutions are found online for this issue which tons of other people have.
Cincinnerdi
Well, my review from Nov 2009 was "It just keeps getting better." But not so much. No significant features added for a looonngg time. One might think it's been abandoned, or thought to be perfect. But no, it needs at least one big improvement: Resume. I'm sure I'm not alone in that whenever I start Listen, I am wanting to resume listening to what I was before. But when you start Listen you have to go thru 3 levels of menus: Start Listen, click My Listen Items, find it in the stack (it will not be where it was last time), then click Listen now. Confusingly, you'll see a little player control at the bottom of that screen that looks like a shortcut, BUT it will almost never play the last podcast, but the last one downloaded. There's a Recently played item that's bit of an attempt, but there needs to be a "Resume last" on splash screen. I could go on, the difference between Subscription, Queued items? Confusing. Cleanup old items? Are they still on my chip? Can't figure any of this out. Still haven't gone back to an iPod, but I'd sure like a spiff up here.
bahathir
Still "losing " focus. Ver 1.1.7 on RAZR xt910 stock Asia ROM.
Steve Cheeseman
I have to say I feel like this is the worst app google has put out. the ui doesnt seem to be consistent with any apps and its just plain ugly. it would have gotten a one star but i thoroughly enjoy the fact that it syncs with google reader. GOOGLE PLEASE UPDATE THIS APP!!!!!!
Andres
If you can't find what you are looking for, just go to their website and click on the RSS feed
Omo
Sorry, Google...on my T-Mobile HTC G2, Listen is useless junk. Unknown errors. Stops unexpectedly. PLEASE UNINSTALL. Thanks.
Desert
Yay! They've fixed the bug that would occasionally stop my music!
Jancis
It can read google rss and its the only working feature. I cannot download for offline listening and i cannot even listen while on internet. Buggy :(
David Sainty
Nice to see an update, but still waiting for the bug fixes!
Roscoe
The design needs some minor improvements but its the best podcast app I know and I tried (and purchased) a lot.
Mark
Listen was a poor solution for podcast feeds to start but with my nexus I constantly get stopped audio and even full phone reboots. I expect so much more from google and have now paid for a much better solution. My phone crashes have stopped once I removed this app.
Mike
Doesn't always download segment. It get to 241 k and stops, there is no way to reset download and redownload it. It it would be nice to be able to back up the subscriptions.
Badwizard
Crash when download, create work folder sd card root.
Wes
Very good program especially for the price. The only problems I ever had were running it on gingerbread. For me it works fine on eclair, froyo, and ice cream sandwich.
Nadeem
Play/pause doesn't work on my Bluetooth headphones. This is one of my most used apps. Needs a few things. Simultaneous downloads, auto delete when podcast is finished.
josh on
Can not work out how to store media on as card. May be a way but not obvious. If downloading fails hard to find way to download ( click settings on media page ). The search sucks, try searching for a podcast by name and you are more likely to get a list of episodes of podcasts that mention the search term. Still it is the best Android podcast tool I have used. It does handle subscriptions well once subscribed!
Mistah Random
UI is uhg ah lee and it doesn't allow me to watch video podcast
Matt
Very easy to subscribe to podcasts. Works good. A little bare boned but its all I need!
TKL
I use it everyday!... i subscribe to what i want and it loads up my queue for the morning commute. would like to "share" stuff (google plus, FB) [edit] Still use it everyday... 2 years later.
J_Slick
Causes my phone (Samsung captivate 1) to lock up a lot when it refreshes feeds, but I have not found a podcast apparently I like better for free. Wish my ipad worked like this.
Mitchell
This app takes care of nearly all my podcast needs. After trying many others I always come back to this. The feature I have seen elsewhere that would really be nice is the ability to pause/play and skip without having to unlock the phone. There is no video podcast support if that is important to you. It is not for me.
Massimo
Tried to add NPR and all I get are feeds from a year ago... Crashes consistently on ICS
frying_fish
This app is definitely great for audio podcasts. Could not ask for more with regards to that (integration with Google reader is useful). It would be nice however if it could work with video podcasts. Only feature that is missing really.
Allan
Needs work Keeps on telling me I have no internet connection But I'm on wifi and 4 g
Tom
For being a search giant, Google's search for podcasts function is lacking, giving tons of duplicate returns and missing extant podcasts. It's not intuitive, navigation is clunky and not like other Google apps, and the only benefit I can see is the integration with Google reader. This is the second time I tried it, and it still performs poorly.
Levi
Used many rss feed apps, and this is by far the best. There are still many bugs, but as long as we all give our feedback and usage data to Google this app will be as good as all their others.
Ammon
Good app but ever since google labs got exed they stopped updating this app because it was part of it. It works ok and is helping me cut the cord with iTunes. Does force close randomly but it is a good app when it works
Mike
The latest update fixed a bug that caused random pauses in music playback. Other than that listen has been great.
Eric
The latest changelog claims to have fixed the issue where Listen steals audio focus from other apps, but I'm still having this problem constantly. Search is unusable. You'd think you could search based on the name of a podcast, but it seems to only search on the name and description for individual episodes. The notification icon constantly disappears. Only way to get it back is to pause and immediately un-pause the podcast I'm listening to. Finally, I can't figure out how to make it fully automatic. I have to go in and manually add episodes to the queue. Everything else seems to work great, why can't I make that just happen?
Chris
Way too many steps are involved to actually get something to play. Searching for podcasts in-app is almost pointless, and there needs to be a way to quit out of the app when you're done listening, so the icon doesn't take up space in the notification bar. But... At least it will (sometimes?) download the feeds so you don't need to stream.
Bryan
This app works very well as far as listening to my favorite shows regularly, integrates with the sync well, too. The only gripes I have are that the app notification will disappear often while listening, and the search function doesn't find some of the podcasts that I look for often (Rev 3 shows, for example).
Chief
This app is the best solution for keeping up with podcasts on Android. I would like to see listen items sync between devices.
TKDWILSON
Come on Google. Crashes, the progress bar doesn't progress when a podcast is playing, horrible search (at least it has search) fails to stream the first time almost every time, I think it might have crashed my phone once. Please do some work on this google. This is your only app I'm not a huge fan of.
stephen
Which is ironic since its published by Google. Anyways, after 3 years of suffering I've thrown in the towel.
Nicolas Couture
Very disappointing Coming from Google, this application which doesn't work is very disappointing. I cannot use the subscribe to podcasts The application also crashes
Doug
Flaky Sometimes skips to next item in queue before current item finishes.
Adam
So-so Works fairly well, but is missing features. No quit option, no ability to delete/mark as "listened", cannot stream content.
Oceanwatcher
Just what I needed I have a few pocasts that I like to listen to and have been searching to find a goo app to take care of it. Most of the apps I have seen has way too much functions. After trying another one that instantly crashed my phone, I installed Listen and had the first episode playing in 5 minutes! I actually prefer that there is no podcast directory to mess up the interface. I just want a good interface for subscribing (I'll find the links myself, thank you!) and an equally good interface for downloading and play.
Richard
Great simple player Works well. Integrated with Google reader.
Mike
Just what I need! This is the app that I have been looking for to replace my MP3 player. It keeps track of all my podcast and remembers where I left off. The only thing I could really use is a timer that I can set when I'm listening to a show before bed and fall asleep.
Leela Krishna K
So so No widget for home screen. Not flexible as a player. Can be much better. Best for searching podcasts.
Don
Decent Does what it's supposed to do but leaves a background process running unnecessarily.
nobodycoo
Good concept Several good programs to listen to. However the search is annoying. Crashes when manually adding feeds. Some programs like NPR Morning Edition missing
celsa
Hey guys if you want to win free prizes from your phone checkout MobilePrizes.Net Just won myself a free $250 amazon gift card hehehe
Chris
Love it, use it everyday but always come across the problem of quiet podcasts. I max the volume and even with earbuds its hard to hear.
Professor
Finally found this as a perfect replacement for itunes for podcast management. Only problem is search never finds the podcast I'm looking for.
Derek
Not what I'd expect from Google. Used it for over a year but im finally throwing in the towel. Can't find podcasts.. can't resume downloads .. etc
Phillip
It would be nice to have some more settings. Such as a sleep timer and the ability to stop play after x items.
xinixr
Not a very comfortable interface even after months of use. Very buggy. Scrubbing through tracks never worked. And the search is horrible.
bela
Navigation is a disaster. Google can do better. Much better. Know what I miss about my iPhone? iTunes and that's all. I wish there was a decent option to listen to music and podcasts on Android.
StupidJuice
It's a little tricky to set up. But I used it to listen to 8 different podcast rss feeds and it finally just started locking up on me all the time. It was great while it lasted though. Now it's unuseable
Tore Sinding Bekkedal
Not up to Google level of quality. Please do some more work on this app; it's too buggy and has an insufficient UI...
rhett
I love Google listen. The one feature I would request would be that new podcasts were automatically added to my queue. As it is they fall into a "new" category and replaced should a newer podcast of the same show is released. Sometimes it takes me a while to catch up on my podcasts but I always do eventually!
Ian
Great but buggy. Only starts playing while buffering. Recently stopped refreshing feeds. I have to do each one individually. Lg ally
Hagge
Decent. Bad search, Some bugs. Cant import all freds. Beyondpod and doggcatcher are much better
Keith
It stopped syncing and I went and got DoggCatcher. Previously I'd said that I'd stopped using my iPod for podcasts. This is absolute favorite app!!!
Sreedhar
Initially worked fine but lately failing to stream on 3g (still ok on wi-fi). Able to listen to podcasts thru built in sreaming player but not thro li
Danjones
I love the ability to sync a podcatcher with a label in Google Reader, but that's really the only thing this app does well. Sorting the queue is impossible, other than "Move to top" and "Move to bottom." That's only useful if you have less than about five items. Automatic sync doesn't work properly. I set it to download new items ever hours. Sometimes it'll go for a full day. There are many other problems, but I can't list them all in the space provided.
Baffling. What's the difference between my "queue" and fresh items"? How come when I try to listen, it complains "your phone is not plugged in"?
Rania
I was able to find rare Pope Shenouda III lectures.thanks Google .Not going back to apple. ANROID is only missing an iTunes like software for PC.
izblah
Yes! Latest update finally works great! Even the seek works... Excellent. Thanks... HTC Desire
nick
Took some determination to learn, but now is great.
Tom
The design and integration of this app give it great potential - there is nothing else like it in the market - but the bugs sink it. If Google were to fix the bugs this would be a great app, but until then it is very frustrating.
Adrian
Could be so good, but in the end just too buggy...also I hate the fact I can't get it out of my reader stream
PRAEst76
Was a good app. Almost perfect. Sadly now left to gather dust in the ruins of Google Labs. Maybe it will return, but for now I'm moving to BeyondPod.
Julian
Great when it works but podcasts often inexplicitly start over from the beginning. Also, random "an error occurred while playing this episode" msgs!?
Matter
Works well for listening to BBC Newspod every day. Can automatically download every day and prefer to download over wifi. Doesn't play .m4a, even though the android can when files are moved into the music directory.
Josh
Thank you for resolving the sync issue so quickly. Back to a four star! Great job!
Samuel
After using steadily for 3 months Listen became so unstable that it was unusable. Reinstalled to no avail. It is unfortunate as I came to like it.
Trex
Always had kinks but latly on Epic it's been majorly problematic, freezin on play or resume, causing the whole phone to hang. Everyday user

Tomasz
Using reader account is very convenient, I can add new podcast from my PC during browsing. Sometimes podcasts are missing last few minutes
karbak
Very nice beginnings, but only half an application till the ability to add podcasts (that the app does not index) via URI is added.
Jen S
Thanks for putting all the important features in such a simple, small app. Best of all, it syncs with Reader! GENIUS!
Matt
It is pretty buggy but once they get it all figured out then it will be outstanding.
Mayuresh
I have subscribed to apm marketplace and the latest episode it gets is from 2010.... Needs lot of work... I guess but good concept...
Minkx
Great idea, but can't find many podcasts. Small footprint is a plus. But going to try stitcher.
pondo13
I hope Google can get their act together, this should be a core android app and not some second hand junkyard biggest.
Dan
Bugs when downloading and when seeking. Doesn't remember where you left off. Finally fed up. Spent $7 for beyondpod. Much better.
Dwayne
For the past 2 weeks, I have not been getting new podcast updates. Also when I look at the feeds, it always looks like the shows need to be subscribed
John Flinchbaugh
This was one of my first apps to load when I got the Nexus S. The options (wifi download, auto download, etc) are great. On long podcasts, the app sometimes stops short, and I have to start the app up again and get back to my current podcast -- at least it remembers where it left off. The interface for rearranging the queue is rough -- drag and drop would be much nicer. I'd love to see these fixed, but I'll be looking at other clients too.
J'vaun
Very useful, entertaining, and simple a most google apps are. Suggested station: "the dark secret place"
Daniel
One huge bug is that it kills the audio for every other app that uses audio, a quick google search will show the problem. Another thing is that this is way too strict with audio feeds which means it won't find audio for podcasts that do have them. See all the smodcasts.
Sony
When it works, it's great but searches are tedious, can't download many subscriptions and can't stop service on occasion. Too buggy
anthrem
To watch google disassemble googlelabs is a sad state of affairs. Many of the cool projects that have come out of googlelabs have been excellent. Rather than focus on these, I will share my thoughts on Listen. It is an excellent podcast manager, in the sense that it is almost integrated enough to make podcast listening simple and effortless. The integration with Google Reader is excellent. Would love to switch from phone to listening on computer thought, would make this a home run app!
Jonathan
Does exactly what I wanted. Stream or download my favorite podcast. This American life, stuff you should know, the moth, savage love. Fantastic!
ema
Has lots of potential - simple but powerful. Unfortunately there are many annoying bugs... streaming is a mess! I'm done waiting for an update :[
John
Needs a lot of work, coming from Google I expected more. You can't even do simple things like import a new podcast feed.
Scott
App is nice. Better sort would be nice. Maybe let me drag queued items around. Resume works great but not clear from bottom bar after device reboot
Bill
Never works consistently, updating Podcasts doesn't work. Google dropped the ball on this one. GET SOME RESOURCES AND FIX THIS PLEASE!
drewmanchu
Very disappointing. Podcast will restart itself when trying to fast forward or go to specific point in timeline. Going to look for another app. G2
Peter
Nice app with lots of room for improvements. Works nicely on my HTC desire hd. I would like to see a 'share or like channel' feature.
Mitch
On Motorola Droid: GREAT, when it works. Constant playback errors, inaccurate time slider, minor streaming issues. Could also be better organized(UI).
Kato
When it works it's simple, and does all I want. however, even pre downloaded podcasts will loop about ten min in. very frustrating.
Thrillgore
Won't work with bluetooth headphone control buttons without skipping all over the place on mytouch 3g slide. Also no video support and lack of fixes.
Joel
Any chance that you will open source this program once Google Labs is shut down? It's really a terrific app, but there is definitely room for improvement. It would be nice to see an update with some of the requests from the other reviewers (e.g. playback speed, widget, fresh items queue behavior, video podcast support, etc.).
Fred
Very good for managing podcasts. Interface could be improved ie; listen now and unsubscribe are very close and easy to mis select.
Rune
Great podcast app, simple and lightweight. But I encounter more bugs than I'd like and auto stopping the sound when something else starts is needed
dan
Such a great podcast app. Ease of use is a 5. Add casts using GRead website. Downloads ahead of time in background. Great for the train ride!
Kate
I'm having the refresh problem, too. I used to love this app, but it's been giving me a lot of problems lately.
Paul
Can't find anything more recent than Nov 2010. Search results seem to have little or nothing to do with query.
Friedrich
no icon in the status bar, cannot switch to running application by pulling down bar. earlier version I used did that.
Carlos
Useless search. Once you have a subscription it works fine though.Playback of downloads is reliable. Can't rewind streaming content correctly.
echoota
OK podcast app. You can add feeds not found under search. Easily keeps current and manages podcast you've listened to. FF and RV are messed up Evo2.1
Shyama
Buggy, fast forward, restart does not work. Google should have a decent podcast player if they want the users to use droid in place of iphone.
Steven
The easiest pod cast app I have used. Simple interface, easy to use. The fact that I can begin playing while it is still downloading rocks. Great app
Grellan
Cool but really needs UI update and ongoing notification (restored?)... give this app some love, Google!
nh
syncs with google reader which is fantastic, but hard to tell download status of an item and have to go into an episode then click menu then download to manually download.
Mike
Idiot reviewers. People need to be much smarter. USE THE READER ON YOUR PC TO ADD FEEDS. Then they will sync to your phone. Not rocket science. Also, when you're home, use wifi to D/L your episodes and it won't use your data plan. It's ridiculously easy if you do 5 minutes of reading and figure things out. It's not iTunes, stop comparing them. This app does many things, but the one thing it won't do is hold your hand.
Cheetahmk2
It says 27 and gives you 30, or gives 40 when it says 300 No method of looking through categories Nice idea, badly implemented
Johan
Not very good. Some basic functions (like search or fast forward) don't work at all. BeyondPod Lite is much better.
Dave
Cool ideas, but buggy playback, recurring & vague error messages, and a rough UI keep it from being usable. Doesn't live up to the Google brand.
Jeff
It's so great, iPhone podcast listeners don't know what they are missing. I have hundred of hours listened so far and never encountered any problems that people are complaining about. Love it, keep up the good work! Nexus S
Will
Laughable that this is a Google branded product. UI looks like a high school senior project. Stability is awful.
Torsken
Severely buggy, small catalog, ugly UI... one of the many reasons this is my last Android. I can't believe Google is behind this junk.
Steven
Is Google ever going to update listen? My downloads on nexus s never finish downloading even if my phone sits right next to my router.
Guy
I prefer this to Doggcatcher's cluttered UI and needless features, but I wish it was more feature-rich. Google obviously has abandoned further development, which is sad considering I use my phone for podcasts more than anything else.
Bryan
Terrible search function, also I can't get PTI to sync for whatever reason. Other than the glitch of it cutting off my music it's not bad.
fabian
Nice app, google reader implementation is very useful. The skip forward bug is driving me nuts though!
Sean
Podkast is so much easier to use and can play video podcasts. Wasn't really user friendly compared to podkast
Prith Hallikeri
Reinstall fixed sync issues. When it works it's usable but not easy. The playlist should be easier to organise, too many long presses.
jim
Often doesn't ff correctly. Would like other ways to organize que. As a new Incredible user, don't have much to compare to, but I like it.
daafies
Doesn't download new episodes automatically. Other annoyances. Ffs google
Danny
I love this app but it need some serious bug fixes. Now 4 some reason it d/l slowly over my data conection. Even though my speed is 5mbps.
Daniel 12
Really nice app if switching to android from iphon If you were use to going to itunes icon and download manually your podcast, well, no more if you own an Android. You can configure this app to download your podcast automatically! I love it.
Dave
Great podcast app. Wish there was a way to queue all subscribed casts as they arrive. Also wish it was easier to discover new content.
Pure crap! It stopped updating subscriptions a month ago & pressing refreshing causes a Force Close 100% of the time. Update did not help. N1 w/ 2.2.1
peewee
This is a fine app, does what it needs to do quite well. Seeking within a podcast doesn't really work, which can be annoying.
Tom
If the bugs were worked out, this would be the best podcast manager ever. But the playback bugs make it impossible to use reliably.
Ryan Smith
Needs an option to schedule download times rather than just "4 hours" and whatnot. Video support would be nice. Other than that, it's great.
Luke
Great simple podcast grabber. If you're looking for a flashy UI, it's not here, but for just plain podcast listening, there's no better alternative.
bryce
Im glad it's not just me or my phone. It is a combination of awful tmobile service and this unusable app that i gave such a poor rating.
Russell
Well not perfect, it's my favorite podcast downloader and player. Remembering your playlist between rom flashes is also amazing.
Gabriel
Great idea. Pretty cool app, I hope that soon more media companies join, so that theres more to listen to. Needs some bug fixes.
Goon
Gets better. Still the most stable and bug free podcast app, even though it isn't exactly feature rich.
Eddie
Love this app, use it daily but like a lot of others on here have said, it's stopped refreshing. Now having to manually refresh 40+ pods.....
Jared
Good but when my archos 43's screen times out, the playback will stop. I like the app and hope that this can be fixed soon. It would also be nice to see a download button on the actual episode to make it easier to download.
Ron
Pretty flaky at times. Great when it works. Sometimes won't resume interrupted downloads properly. Integration with Google Reader is often good.
Jim
Great app, but user interface needs some tweaking. What about "in queue" and "played" lists, rather than instantly delete? And group by podcast?
Andy
First impressions are good. Simple Android navigation. Downloads are super fast with WiFi. Podcasts seem to mark as "listened to" before you have
BetaSve
This app seems great and I am happy to use it. It's just that one thing that bothers me, there's not much to see new featured podcasts coming. Yea, there are popular searches but that is not the same. It would be great if there was some kind of categories or sections telling people "Ok, you want tech, that are the top 10 most listened podcast we have here". I think that's pretty much all of it. Keep up the good work, guys :)
STLDAVE
NEEDS 2x playback speed for audio podcasts. My 1st gen iPod touch has that... hellloooo.... anybody at Google "Listen"ing??? {like that?} And, yes, video feeds please. Would be nice if this was, you know, updated once in awhile. I'll give you one star each for those items.
johnseebach
Barely works anymore It's unfortunate: I loved this app, but bugs (random episodes being deleted, random errors trying to play podcasts) make it essentially unusuable. You would think that google could do better than this.
rocketsk8s
I've tried ALL the free podcast apps. This is best hands down. Yeah, the paid apps are more feature rich but this is a clean app, easy to use.
Tsu
The most recent version of this app cuts off after ~40 minutes of playback. I've seen this behavior on FroYo, Gingerbread, and Honeycomb. Other than that, it's the simplest and best app for podcasting on Android. Management through GReader is great. Lots of room to improve here, but still a great app.
RICH
Brilliant - really impressed but plays podcasts continuously until manual stop. Needs option to stop at end of current track or a sleep mode (or both)
Mike M
Originally great, now not so great. Latest version buffers poorly, leaves 3G constantly operating-even after quiting. OS 1.6 on G1
Baffling. What's the difference between my "queue" and fresh items"? How come when I try to listen, it complains "your phone is not plugged in"?

On Motorola Droid: GREAT, when it works. Constant playback errors, inaccurate time slider, minor streaming issues. Could also be better organized(UI).
daafies
Doesn't download new episodes automatically. Other annoyances. Ffs google
Steven
The easiest pod cast app I have used. Simple interface, easy to use. The fact that I can begin playing while it is still downloading rocks. Great app
Peter
Nice app with lots of room for improvements. Works nicely on my HTC desire hd. I would like to see a 'share or like channel' feature.
Guy
I prefer this to Doggcatcher's cluttered UI and needless features, but I wish it was more feature-rich. Google obviously has abandoned further development, which is sad considering I use my phone for podcasts more than anything else.
Jonathan
Does exactly what I wanted. Stream or download my favorite podcast. This American life, stuff you should know, the moth, savage love. Fantastic!
echoota
OK podcast app. You can add feeds not found under search. Easily keeps current and manages podcast you've listened to. FF and RV are messed up Evo2.1
Fred
Very good for managing podcasts. Interface could be improved ie; listen now and unsubscribe are very close and easy to mis select.
Friedrich
no icon in the status bar, cannot switch to running application by pulling down bar. earlier version I used did that.
Shyama
Buggy, fast forward, restart does not work. Google should have a decent podcast player if they want the users to use droid in place of iphone.
Grellan
Cool but really needs UI update and ongoing notification (restored?)... give this app some love, Google!
Danny
I love this app but it need some serious bug fixes. Now 4 some reason it d/l slowly over my data conection. Even though my speed is 5mbps.
Carlos
Useless search. Once you have a subscription it works fine though.Playback of downloads is reliable. Can't rewind streaming content correctly.
Prith Hallikeri
Reinstall fixed sync issues. When it works it's usable but not easy. The playlist should be easier to organise, too many long presses.
Luke
Great simple podcast grabber. If you're looking for a flashy UI, it's not here, but for just plain podcast listening, there's no better alternative.
Rune
Great podcast app, simple and lightweight. But I encounter more bugs than I'd like and auto stopping the sound when something else starts is needed
Tom
If the bugs were worked out, this would be the best podcast manager ever. But the playback bugs make it impossible to use reliably.
Will
Laughable that this is a Google branded product. UI looks like a high school senior project. Stability is awful.
Dave
Great podcast app. Wish there was a way to queue all subscribed casts as they arrive. Also wish it was easier to discover new content.
Daniel 12
Really nice app if switching to android from iphon If you were use to going to itunes icon and download manually your podcast, well, no more if you own an Android. You can configure this app to download your podcast automatically! I love it.
Johan
Not very good. Some basic functions (like search or fast forward) don't work at all. BeyondPod Lite is much better.
Goon
Gets better. Still the most stable and bug free podcast app, even though it isn't exactly feature rich.
Sean
Podkast is so much easier to use and can play video podcasts. Wasn't really user friendly compared to podkast
jim
Often doesn't ff correctly. Would like other ways to organize que. As a new Incredible user, don't have much to compare to, but I like it.
fabian
Nice app, google reader implementation is very useful. The skip forward bug is driving me nuts though!
peewee
This is a fine app, does what it needs to do quite well. Seeking within a podcast doesn't really work, which can be annoying.
Dave
Cool ideas, but buggy playback, recurring & vague error messages, and a rough UI keep it from being usable. Doesn't live up to the Google brand.
Pure crap! It stopped updating subscriptions a month ago & pressing refreshing causes a Force Close 100% of the time. Update did not help. N1 w/ 2.2.1
Ron
Pretty flaky at times. Great when it works. Sometimes won't resume interrupted downloads properly. Integration with Google Reader is often good.
Jim
Great app, but user interface needs some tweaking. What about "in queue" and "played" lists, rather than instantly delete? And group by podcast?
Eddie
Love this app, use it daily but like a lot of others on here have said, it's stopped refreshing. Now having to manually refresh 40+ pods.....
Jeff
It's so great, iPhone podcast listeners don't know what they are missing. I have hundred of hours listened so far and never encountered any problems that people are complaining about. Love it, keep up the good work! Nexus S
Mike M
Originally great, now not so great. Latest version buffers poorly, leaves 3G constantly operating-even after quiting. OS 1.6 on G1
Gabriel
Great idea. Pretty cool app, I hope that soon more media companies join, so that theres more to listen to. Needs some bug fixes.
Andy
First impressions are good. Simple Android navigation. Downloads are super fast with WiFi. Podcasts seem to mark as "listened to" before you have
John Flinchbaugh
This was one of my first apps to load when I got the Nexus S. The options (wifi download, auto download, etc) are great. On long podcasts, the app sometimes stops short, and I have to start the app up again and get back to my current podcast -- at least it remembers where it left off. The interface for rearranging the queue is rough -- drag and drop would be much nicer. I'd love to see these fixed, but I'll be looking at other clients too.
Tom
In July 2011 Google announced that they will be terminating Google Labs, which includes this app. Presumably this means that Listen will never get the bug fixes that it so badly needs (Google has not said this explicitly). It's a shame - it could have been a great app.
Jared
Good but when my archos 43's screen times out, the playback will stop. I like the app and hope that this can be fixed soon. It would also be nice to see a download button on the actual episode to make it easier to download.
rocketsk8s
I've tried ALL the free podcast apps. This is best hands down. Yeah, the paid apps are more feature rich but this is a clean app, easy to use.
RICH
Brilliant - really impressed but plays podcasts continuously until manual stop. Needs option to stop at end of current track or a sleep mode (or both)
Fisdu
Doesn't work
Speedy
Wish it worked better I don't remember the last time this was updated and it's so glitchy these days. I don't think it's anywhere near a priority for Google, but I would like it to be.
Slugsie
Works ok Works ok, but needs an update desperately.
Jan
Buggy Too buggy, looses play time pointer in incomplete downloads.
X
Rewind and slider malfunctions PITA
snekse
I'll give it another star once I can install to the SD card. Now the largest downloaded app on my phone.
nick
Great Took some determination to learn, but now is great.
Anonymous
Right concept but app needs work Synching podcast feeds independent of device and platform is the way to go but this app needs some bugfix and usability work.
laverna
Hey guys if you are looking for cute singles in your area checkout DroidDating.Us I find someone new on there almost everyday!
Tracy
I use Listen every day and overall it's good but it drops out and stops playing sometimes, and it's hard to get back to the podcast I was listening to
Brent
Annoying notification always runs. Errors out a lot.
Rion
Poor selection Doesnt support all podcasts
office.valentin
Good, but it jas a background service that allways run, uninstalling.
nom
Used to be great, but now won't sync w my google acct for some reason w android 2.2. Huge bummer, used to use it all the time but now... Can't.
John
Horrid Bugs Randomly starts and stops playing. Truncates media for no reason. Most of the time interferes with incoming phone calls. Klunky interface to set the play order. Has not been updated in over a year.
Danial
Doeskt play Everything works until I hit play amd it say's error. DOES NOT WORK! ARCHOS 70
fred
Horrible on the x2 Listen worked great on my old DROID but not on the droidx2. Any type of multi tasking has a high probability of stopping play.
Michael
Unstable. DROID X. Skips a lot. Restarts my phone at least once a week.weeks Steve
Right concept but app needs work Synching podcast feeds independent of device and platform is the way to go but this app needs some bugfix and usability work.
Tepporn
gdd
Kjetil
Works well and does what I need it to do.
steve
Shame Had potential, if they'd fix some of the bugs (like not keeping wifi locked on while downloading - downloads often fail when the screen sleeps due to wifi being disabled) Now Labs has been disbanded, it'd be nice if they opensourced it so we can fix some of it. Still the best podcast app out there, but it could be so much better.
michalki
Great app, but takes more &more space, esp with database. Please move to SD card??
Kenneth
Ruined my phone For the first week it worked great but after that it has been either very glitchy or hasn't worked at all. Now it randomly turns itself on and plays.
Aaron
Great I use it everyday. But the search is comically bad, especially since it's a google app. Add podcasts through google reader online and all is fine.
Rafael
Simple but powerful Like it a lot
Andrew
Love it. Would be nice if I could increase present max download storage from 80.
Icon
This app use to work great now it doesn't and google seems to have abandoned it.
Sean Collins
Buggy and abandoned Playback sometimes stops, and skips to next item Downloads fail to complete on cellular network, leading to issue above Appears to be abandoned.
Jeff
Works... unless... Works great unless you jump ahead, rewind, or interrupt the download midstream.
fractaloon
Simple app with no updates Google Listen is great at what it does. It's simple and it manages the downloads of my podcasts. I only whish more features would get added to it but I don't think it's been updated since it came out over a year ago.
giuseppina
Hey guys if you want to win free prizes fromd your phone checkout DroidPrizes.Net Just won myself a free $250 amazon gift card hehehe
Peter
Keeps locking up and rebooting! Keeps pausing and crashing for no apparent reason... Droid X 2.3
gsoltis
Totally broken Cannot get a single podcast to play. Just keep getting an error message after the episode downloads.
Sperfect
NO SD MOBILY It would be better if google apps could be moved to SD!
Tomasz
Mostly good Using reader account is very convenient, I can add new podcast from my PC during browsing. Sometimes podcasts are missing last few minutes
mark
Sucks Doesn't work. Just pulls blank search results for everything searched. Won't add subscriptions. Nexus s 4g Sprint
Jay
Looks nice, too bad it doesn't really work Doesn't reliably download subscribed podcasts, Many of the podcasts it does download are incomplete or defective - they loop back to the start after a minute or two.
Jason
Best Free Podcast Catcher As long as everything is downloaded and you add the podcast thru Google reader then Google Listen is fine, but the app needs to be updated.
joanie
Hey guys if you want to win free prizes from your phone checkout DroidPrizes.Net Just won myself a free $250 amazon gift card hehehe
a
Best player i found so far. But it could do with grouping podcast together.
Ben
Blah Limited search results. Would be better if it had more variety and ways to find new podcasts
J.T.
App Never used it, but seems like it would work well.
brent
Works, sorta.. Doesn't update feeds very well and the player controls hardly ever work correctly.
Hari
I expect better from google Few Problems, 1) Keeps giving download error 2) Cannot multi select items for download 3) time and again I have to uninstall and reinstall to be able to get all my podcasts correctly refreshed as the refresh button adds items to the queue but does not download. 4) I have to individually download podcasts that show up as errors for whatever reason. Pluses > 1) integrates with Google reader 2) has a wifi only mode so it won't cost me money like the most irritating Stitcher App
Joel
Open-Source? Any chance that you will open source this program once Google Labs is shut down? It's really a terrific app, but there is definitely room for improvement. It would be nice to see an update with some of the requests from the other reviewers (e.g. playback speed, widget, fresh items queue behavior, video podcast support, etc.).
MARCUS GARVEY or DOCTER !!hihi
Good concept but need more work to make it user friendly , auto updates
Chris Harding
Works great, could do with a better search feature.
Arnauld VM
! In certain cases, starts downloading over 3G even if configured for not doing it! Has already cost me money :-(
Michael
NEVER ever updates, no further development.
V
No audio Randomly stops playing audio, forcing me to reboot phone. Only way to get it to play. Atrix
Tim
Wonderful app My favorite podcast app by far! Seamless reader integration, a queue of content that's easy to manage, and easy to navigate.
rad_thundercat
I wish That google would spend half the time they did on this as they do google music. However, I must say it is my favorite podcasting app. Just fix the bu
zztpost
Maybe cannot work in somewhere
adamfalkofske
Amazing Search could be a bit better, but overall the app rocks. Very stable
RobDickson
Not bad GUI a bit confusing. Search is rubbish. Sometimes fails to update and sometimes doesn't find downloads.
Monsta Cee
At settings adjust your refresh from manually to what ever time you want and it will update and refresh
danwroy
Would pay for a working version I would like it if downloads didn't constantly timeout, has cost me exactly $10 in data fees due to podcasts which hadn't fully downloaded at home
Paul
No new.stuff! Can't find anything more recent than Nov 2010. Search results seem to have little or nothing to do with query.
Oberdorf
Reboots my phone After about 15 mins my phone reboots. Useless. Switching to Acast or Beyondpod.
Scott C
Just clicks, Droid 2 When I hit play, all I hear are clicks and static. Also, there are a lot of choices of what to listen to, but they all sound boring.
yazmin
Hey guys if you are looking for cute singles in your area check out DroidDating.Us I find someone new on there almost everyday!
MaxFragg
Not the nicest ui But otherwise perfect, safes for every podcast where you've stopped and syncs subscriptions with Google Reader
yy
Keep getting connection timed out for large podcast. Used to be OK.
avian
Useful for basic listening to podcasts, but expect a lot of bugs and rough edges.
Skagget
Worst crap ever produced by Google.
Anup
Works half of the time Bad: - Sometimes search function does not work. - Rewind never worked, even on Wifi. - Does not delete downloaded stream even after opting to do so. Good: - Simple and intuitive UI.
Tom
This app seems to be getting progressively worse and hasn't seen update in ages.
BetaSve
Great app for downloading podcasts This app seems great and I am happy to use it. It's just that one thing that bothers me, there's not much to see new featured podcasts coming. Yea, there are popular searches but that is not the same. Hey guys if you are looking for cute singles in your area check out DroidDating.Us I find someone new on there almost everyday!
Lanners
Google, please update this top app
nelson
Not good Used to be great now it just randomly cuts out.
Brett
Used to be better. Mostly works but I can't browse through old podcasts any more. Also recently started marking new episodes as listened.
Josh
Ok Has issues that need fixed
Mary
Ui not very intuitive, few settings options, spontaneously plays, notification frequently disappears
daafies
Poor Doesn't download new episodes automatically. Other annoyances. Ffs google
Andrew
Often doesn't work even with manual sync. I haven't seen auto-sync work at all.
Jason
It kept chopping and restarting my podcasts. Limited selection of "popular" casts.
Jeff
Can't download Can't figure out how to download the podcast except by pushing play on them. Ie if u need a lot of podcasts downloaded daily it is a pain in the butt.
Joe
Great, simple app. Just a real shame that development has ceased. Needs reviving and some more features. 1.5x playback please!!
DennisSylvesterHurd
I've used this app since the first day on Android. It is time for a refresh. I'd like a little "sharing" in Listen: Facebook, Twitter, etc.
namelok
First app that rebooted my sgs2 since I bought it... 1 star
Delfino
Great... but... I wish there was a way to delete podcasts after I listen to them... us that too much to ask?
venkatesh
Awesome app Great app, works flawlessly, nice UI,please provide a widget in the next update, eagerly awaiting the update.
Jin
Needs work on podcast searching. Doesn't find many of the usual podcasts that I follow. Still good app though
emelina
Hey guys if you are looking for cute singles in your area check out DroidDating.Us I find someone new on there almost every day!
Clay
Errors Does not keep feeds updated. Cannot stream podcasts without errors, only when fully downloaded.
lortay78
Overlooked I use this app so much I sometimes take for granted how awesome it is. Thank you Google.
Mike
Mediocre Can't make it sync over night and then listen away from wifi - supposed to work, but audio is never downloaded before I start listening.
Glen
Get what you pay for Switching to one of the paid apps.
Brian
Good be better If it works it is nice, not great just nice. Too unreliable to use often. Doesn't matter if I am wifi or not. Google you are better than this.
rrobe
Playback notification disappears after few seconds, so it's hard to control playback. Nexus S
tmb
Not enough control Not enough control over downloads. Want # downloads per feed, force download now, etc.
RobotMonkey
Left to rot by Google Works properly about 60% of the time. Buggy as hell, no updates since October '10. Shameful.
G
Hasn't been updated in ages This app used to be great, but google's refusal to update it has rendered it useless. Check out PocketCasts instead
Steve
Buggy Works alright, but search isn't very good, changes streams when seeking, and cant edit url without making new subscription
tmb
So close, yet nearly useless Download unreliable. End up ob the train with nothing to listen to. Frustrating!
nick
Could be better. Like Gpodder... Its okay, It doesn't seem to have support for all ogg feeds..
Don
Couldn't figure out Reader integration The search results we're useless and the only way to add a feed not found through search is to type in the URL. Lame.
David
Doesn't find anything. Utter crap
david
Needs follow-through Organizes everything well enough but can't seem to get the RSS reader to stay current. It loads all the podcasts then I add the feed but never updates
Sam
Great ideal. Excellent for the commuter.
Kenneth
Garbage This thing is worthless and WHY won't you let me uninstall it!?
Tom
Great IDEA but buggy If the bugs were worked out, this would be the best podcast manager ever. But the playback bugs make it impossible to use reliably.
AlucardFair
AndroidCentral I get all of em on the go now, thanks!
rafe
perfect Please add a close button and an option to automatically download now. Everything else is great moto d2
ali
Great Great app
Alan Edelstein
I love it! Much better and for me easier to use than Stitcher.
五名
Get with it google Another product launched and then not supported. No updates at all. There's so much potential here, but its languishing.
Anthony
So buggy stopped using it So buggy stopped using it, Im a podcast junkie so now I use pocket casts which is the best podcast app in the market.
Benkő Tibor
Plays files one by one - have to press play for each episode. Automatic download is buggy and weird. No playlist from preferred episodes.
Eden
Enough is enough We're approaching a year now with no updates... Google, please update this like you said you would at Google IO, or just release the source code :(
Bart
One of my favorite and most used apps. I hope this update is better than the last. Hasn't kept subscriptions updated lately. Needs video support!
RobotMonkey
Not perfect, but good :) Kinda buggy, but still pretty great :)
John
Slidebar is horrible Whenever I fast forward through a podcast it plays from the beginning w the slidebar showing my previous position. More to say but no room to say it.
Adam
Development has stopped on this app The ongoing notification disappears after a few minutes. Sometimes it fails to download full podcasts. The search feature is useless.
Stan
Does really download and save podcast. I like how simple it is and hope they work on it.
Samuel
Updates were few and far between. Behaves strangely now. Starts whenever it wants to, dies the same way. Too much of an inconvenience to keep.
kreutz
Did not work as it should and does not allow install itself on SD card.
David
now ok for google apps accounts
David
Buggy So buggy! I want to use this a lot but please fix it!
Tom
Google has cancelled Listen - bugs won't be fixed. In July 2011 Google announced that they will be terminating Google Labs, which includes this app. Presumably this means that Listen will never get the bug fixes that it so badly needs (Google has not said this explicitly). It's a shame - it could have been a great app.
Craig
Nicely designed, but very buggy. Force-closes and reboots the phone all the time. DROID X. Gingerbread.
Mikel
Doesn't work with Google Apps accounts.
ioioi210
Works well But looks could use a boost.
blister
Can't force a download. Kingship percent of my content bad to be streamed, but what if I'm out of range? You can't use it I guess.
zhang you
needs great improvements Not useful at current stage. Stops constantly when download is not finished. Fails to refresh subscriptions all the time. I have been using this for one month now and finally decided to uninstall it. The worst app made by Google.
Kyle
I want to be able to add my own url. The skeptics guide url is out dated and does not update beyond aug/09. This feature would make a 5 star app imo.
thaisbenjamin
Love this app, but it needs some serious updating!
Sidney
Terrible search functionality for finding new podcasts. Google should be able to do better.
Sean
Good, but not Great I switched to Listen after using DoggCatcher for 6 months and getting tired of several annoying bugs. Unfortunately, Listen has its own laundry list of bugs. My two favorite so far are when it goes into a continuous loop of playing 3 seconds of each queued item and when it starts playing randomly. Now I'm stuck looking for something better than this and DoggCatcher
Anis
Update please! It feels like android 1.0
duanev
Pauses audio for notification sounds so you dont miss words - cool!! But can't recover from dnld errs, and can't share podcasts via email/sms.
runamok
One of the beautifully simple, seamless apps that makes Android shine.
jodmyster
Very basic podcast app basically lots of better apps on the market
Review_Pro
Free. Still needs updates. Better search needed as well.
Alex
Go into itunes or whatever podcast manager you use and copy the url link into an email. Email the links to yourself, and copy and add subscription.
Steve
User interface makes it too hard to listen to episodes other than in chronological order. Buggy and unreliable.
Joe C
Lots of play problems on 2.2 now unusable on 2.3! On a google nexus one no less
Mr Slav
Full of bugs. Please update.
Oli
One of my most used apps. Buggy at times but still very good.
Nathan
Can we please get lock screen control? I would also like the option to NOT sync with Google Reader if we don't want to.
James
Any chance of improved Reader integration? Eg. stars, share and comment.
Ben
Often randomly restarts pocast from the beginning but doesn't change track progress time!? Frustrating.
John
PLEASE UPDATE! Great app. Good sync is awesome. Needs one more update for some fine tuning.
Meg Grooms
It asks me to chose a google account & accept permission, then it shuts down, every time.
Mat
Bit hit and miss Lost all my downloaded podcasts the other day and had to redownload them all again. Why, I don't know?
Jochen Schneider
Doesn't work well with Android 2.2
joe
Awesome!!! The only thing I'd like to see is to be able to put all the same network pods in the same network file.
The app works fine as a podcast manager. However, the selection of shows is very limited.
d3
Ok, tried it again after the last update. It started causing my G2 to lock up until I turned off background updating. Deleted...oh wait, not allowed.
Hobbes vs. Boyle
Integration with Google Reader is nice. Interface isn't that great and needs improvement. Overall better than other podcast Apps I've tried.
Danny
Constant errors
Dave
Used to work great but now loops the podcast at random. Then will not let me restart the podcast
AJ
So many errors! And for seemingly no reason.
baby
Randomly and more frequently just won't play episodes noting "errors" of one sort or another.
Badwizard
Google reader account reguired.
Nathan
Cant do podcasts. Uninstall
Beardos
Need to be able to store podcasts on SD card
Higs
What a shame it's stopped working I've just upgraded to Andoid 2.3 on my phone (ZTE Blade) and this has stopped working. It's still there, still refreshes etc but won't download podcasts for listening offline. They appear to download but don't. This was really useful for me when it used to work for listening to music and comedy radio while working overseas (without a data connection). Hope it gets sorted. Is the project still supported?
Peter
Good. Needs SD card support.
Courtney
I cabt seach songs...!!!
Colin
Since I upgraded my droid x to 2.3 the app causes phone to reboot if screen is rotated to landscape. happens a couple of seconds after screen timeout
Eric James
Great when it does what it should, but I feel like I have to do everything myself, including scroll back to where I left off.
Jesse
Not very good. Doesn't have the podcasts I want. Adding them by url didn't work. Uninstalled.
kevinlyfellow
I like this program, but it causes mp3 files to stop playing about one every 1-2 days. Since removing, I no longer have the problem.
alexzk
Randomly restarts podcasts. Fast forward does not reliably work. Uninstalling.
Urboss
Should linkify descriptions - Java Posse is a good example where it would be very useful.
Mahesh
Good app. But, it has recently been stopping playing randomly. Please add video podcast ability. App hasn't been updated in a while
andrew
Dear google, I know you've been busy and all, but this app sucks. Please develop it more as it's been awhile since an update.
Ipsos
Not updated, bad search function.
Jahan
Doggcatcher is the best podcasting app..this app has very few podcasts...very buggy and crappy UI.google..u. an do better than this.
me
Works great on HTC Incredible. Would like to see an "Add all to queue" option in the "My Listen Items"
Chad Pruden
Great app for podcasts. I would like to see a "share" feature for the app. Then it would be complete!
bendshead
I've tried ALL the free podcast apps. This is best hands down. Yeah, the paid apps are more feature rich but this is a clean app, easy to use.
Marcos
Can't live without it.
Chewie
Not bad. Could use better download recovery
Steven
Great app and I would give it 5* if it had a widget
bulldog
My favorit apps. pls add sort feature for podcast item, n option to set smaller font. Tq
Fareed
Improved; many of the problems I used to experience are fixed now. Not the most full-featured app, but it gets the job done.
Voyagerfan5761
Functional, but search sucks This is a good podcatcher app. Managing episodes is a bit unintuitive, as is managing which files are downloaded, but it does work. Unlike other reviewers I have not had a problem with playback jittering or stopping. However, the search SUCKS. Looking for TWiT.tv feeds, I had to use their website to get the feed links. (One exception: Security Now) LG Optimus V/Froyo2.2
John
Works great when working. Recently resets my DROID x2 during play. Should be easier to search and add podcasts. Need link to most. Queue needs improve
Edward
Seems like an abandoned project, which is sad because it had potential! I love how it is tied into Google Reader. main complaint atrocious feed search
Eric
Good, but frustrating when download stops. I'd like to save to SD card.
kichik
Please please please untie from Google Reader. I keep losing podcasts by accidentally "reading" them online with Google Reader.
Guy
Not bad. I prefer this to Doggcatcher's cluttered UI and needless features, but I wish it was more feature-rich. Google obviously has abandoned further development, which is sad considering I use my phone for podcasts more than anything else.
Jeff
Was just ok a while ago. Now it is simply unuseable. Not what I'd expect from google. All parts of this app need attention - please!
Lee
Like it! Only drawback is it won't add the MP3 xml source in RSS for Diggnation. Oh and video support would be nice....I believe that's not present but I've only tried Diggnation
Ed
Just deleted all mu downloaded podcasts for no reason.
Ross
Seems to be falling apart. More and more unfixed bugs.
ABQslim
Not at all intuitive. Going with Stitcher.
Nautilus
Not reliable. Seems like an abandoned project.
Chris
Often forgets last player position and commonly downloads partial podcasts.
Gabriel
Free. Still needs updates. Better search needed as well.
Mike
Decent app for basic podcast use but failed to download complete casts repeatedly. Droid X. Uninstalled. Using Mypod now and it's much more reliable.
Mark
Most subscriptions are ancient, even after refresh. Maybe the blogs' URLs changed, but these are popular blogs Reader suggested. Sad Id like to use it
Incognito
Really old content, and some have missing files.
Cindy
It freezes and then returns to the beginning. Then I can't get it to play anything except from the beginning. Fix it, Google!
CobalticBlue
Good but feels forgotten.sort it out google!
Russell
Well not perfect, it's my favorite podcast downloader and player. Remembering your playlist between rom flashes is also amazing.
Samo
Come on Google! Even as broken as it is, its still one of the best. Update it!
JD
C'mon Google. I know this is a labs project, but an update would be nice. App is so buggy! I really want to love it, but it's difficult to do so.
bcurdy
Stopped working...Never been great but now it's totally useless.
Awestin
I have yet to successfully play anything. Multiple force closes. HTC EVO
Adam
The ongoing notification disappears after a few minutes, sometimes it fails to download full podcasts, the search feature is useless...
siliconeagle
Doesn't work well. Switched to mypod, which works a treat after learning how to use it.
lostinacrowd
Does not work right with Droid Inc. Won't resume podcast where I left off if I close and restart it. Guess I'll go to mediafly.
Boris
Good Would be awesome if this app could work as an alarm clock, to wake up with the last podcasts.
Markus
Nice that it streams podcasts, but the user interface is bad. Why does it play all Fresh Items right after playing the queue?
Chow
Awesome pod cast app.
HexiJosh
Good, but needs work I love having something to grab my podcasts, especially one that integrates with Google Reader, but this needs a less confusing interface and better reorder and sorting options.
Jeffrey
Used to work great but now errors and partial downloads. Fix please.
James
Barely works, horrible search, if streaming a podcast it will restart the podcast randomly
DarthMowzy
Too many partial downloads!
StephenTorrington
Daily error and refuses to play, requires a phone restart to get working again. Samsung Galaxy S
Quik
Below average for now. The app randomly stops any kind of audio playback... why? Also, some options are missing and the UI could be updated.
drdreau
If u listen to podcasts then you will love this fantastic APP!!!
tbrk
The basic functionality and integration with Google reader are excellent but the interface needs polish and maybe a few extra features.
Ryan
There are better podcast apps out there than this. The App restarts itself and the controls won't allow you to get back to where you left off! Sux
Nick
The slide bar doesn't seem to work. When ever I use it my pod cast restarts even though the slider still says I'm only half way through the podcast.
Adrian
Great app. PERIOD.
kenneth
Great app
Jeff
App is truncating podcasts when downloading.
Ian
Works great ... Could be better at updating podcasts. Itunes still does a better job.
Mor
Buggy as hell It doesn't work well if start listening before the full podcast is downloaded.
Aryeh
Doesn't let me skip to various parts of npr podcasts, really frustrating
Dave
Is ok could be better even though it is a google labs product
Minkx
Great idea, but can't find many podcasts. Small footprint is a plus. But going to try stitcher.
sbergus
Operas the way it is supposed to, but it definitely feels like this app has been abandoned by Google.
Stefano
I used and loved it, but too many bugs never addressed and regression with android upgrade to 2.2 (interferes with music player and other programs)
Nate
Not ready yet. Buffering is slow even on wifi. Canteen wait until its ready though.
J'vaun
Very useful, entertaining, and simple a most google apps are. Suggested station: "the dark secret place"
brian
Errors out and will not play audio with 2.3.3. Will download audio but gives an error when you try and play it
Steve
Really useful and simple, but could use a slight rethink in the UI.
T
Doesn't update
Alex
Why doesn't it work with a domain apps account? Also, not intuitive at all. Needs more work, google!
Jack
Read status in google reader unrelated to listened status
Tomasz
Mostly good Using reader account is very convenient, I can add new podcast from my PC during browsing. Sometimes podcasts are missing last few minutes, I hope it will be fixed in future revisions
Jan
will not download podcast and keeps locking up
Benjamin
Works good most of the time. But sometimes it skips the last minute of the track I'm listening to and goes to the next one in my queue.
dph
Good app... needs a go back button (either 15 or 30 seconds)
五名
Another product launched and then not supported. No updates at all. There's so much potential here, but its languishing.
FoodieLite
Rewind feature is useless. Restarts playback from the very beginning. Suck. Also needs a way to sort queued material by criteria.
Tabatt13
I can't believe I'm saying this but please make this more like the Blackberry Podcast app. The latest update is amazing and makes Listen look so bad.
Andrew
Nice job MORONS! Update the app and it deletes all data including downloaded podcasts.
Inuk
Nice that it auto plays casts as they are updated. Wish I could add casts to playlist by checking them and having them play in that order. Some bugs!
natasha
BUGGY. Continuously plays start of podcasts over and over... try to download again but same thing for multiple podcasts.
n8wvi
generally works well, but fails too often Nearly half the time it only downloads part of a file, but it thinks it's complete.
test
Works good overall.
Jake
It gets 3 stars for its google reader integration, but that's it. What's wrong? Its buggy, sometimes randomly restarts podcasts, can't seek, etc etc
Andy
Better then most podcasts apps out. Really like instant pause when headphones are removed.
Cam
Solid option for listening to podcasts, but the program is buggy.
Adam
Not ready for prime time Definitely a labs product and needs a lot of polishing before I would use it again. App could benefit from a widget for controls, better downloading, and stability. I have had the running icon drop out of the the ongoing task bar in the middle of listening, or the player just stops playing on my Nexus S.
Mitch
UNUSABLE, all downloads timeout since t-mobile now throttles MP3 downloads to 10kB/s (even on HSPA+) :( Please help get t-mobile to stop this Google!
Feras
Please fix this app, getting tired of random restarts of podcasts and inconsistent spot saving
Andy
In need of major overhaul. Subscriptions always a day behind. Rev/fwd carver major issues. App has mind of Its own. Please fix.
Jeremy
I have liked using this app for a long time. I'm waiting for a long overdue update to add stability, video playback and visual improvements.
spider
Downlods 900k of a podcast then says error. Useless.
yen hong
Force closing a lot...not reliable..lots of issues..
Rhys
UPDATE THIS APP, FIX BUGS, ITS BEEN CRAPPY FOR TOO LONG! GETTING VERY TIRED OF IT! PLEASE FIX
beardo
Good effort. I like the fact that RSS podcas can be added direct from the browser. Buggy when skipping forward.
syn1kk
Ugg... Not a fun app to use. Takes 10 seconds to open steam and then reports "buffering error". fwd/rev don't work. SUGGEST USING: stitcher instead!!!
longhairbilly
Can't even use it. The search function is HORRIBLE. I can't find anything I'm looking for. The one show I found is a month old and won't update.
Cory
Worst pod mgr I've ever used. Gives me podcasts from 4 months ago and no current feeds
Steven
Is Google ever going to update listen? My downloads on nexus s never finish downloading even if my phone sits right next to my router.
Richard
Does not play through bluetooth. Stops midstream for no reason and cannot skip to where you left off. Too bad. Would have been nice otherwise
Brandon
I hope its not a problem for everyone, but this app is not extremely buggy on the DX. Constantly stops playback or suddenly starts over. Disappointed
No
The app does not synchronize or store podcasts in native music app/SD card, which requires repeated downloads if switching devices.
Chris
Constantly runs a service in the background even after exiting the app. Nexus One
Robin
Great app...when it works. Locks up several times a week (i use it nightly.)
J
Glitchy Glitchy Glitchy. I can't seem to get through a podcast without something going wrong
Moo
Works but that's about it. Seriously needs some love. I can't see why it can't be moved to the SD Card.
Dan
Glitches a lot. But it is the best podcatcher for the price. Please fix the glitches.
koko
Very nifty app. Works amazingly well. Add ability to work with headset control and video podcast and that would make it even better.
Chris
Not completely polished, but does everything you need it to. No problems on HTC desire.
Daniel
Most selections failed I use shoutcast any way...
Sony
When it works, it's great but searches are tedious, can't download many subscriptions and can't stop service on occasion. Too buggy
bryce
Im glad it's not just me or my phone. It is a combination of awful tmobile service and this unusable app that i gave such a poor rating.
darious
Hasn't worked in months.
Donald
Continually restarts podcasts, yielding most frustrating. User. Experience. Ever.
rantdepot
Desperately needs a podcast browser of some sort. Also, please allow feed management in the app so it doesn't clutter up Google reader.
James
Force closing with updates started today...others having same problem?
Jason
Not bad. Visually pleasing but could use improvement: sort options, hide listened to, date stamp instead of relative time.
Nicholas
Crashes constantly.
Jamie
Love it!!!
marcusb84
Lots of bugs. Unfortunately it looks like Google abandoned this.
Umair
Incredible podcast manager
GN
Can't deal with big media files It used to be my favorite podcast until I hit this issue
Emilie
Maybe it's just me but I've yet to find a feed that its leas than a month old. Google should be able to do much better
spex
Corrupts interrupted downloads with no reload/recourse. "Listen Now" will inexplicably start back at the top while the progress bar loses sync.
Mr. Bruce
Did not work on verizon droid, large down loads, but errors instead of playing podcast. Do not understand.
Tam
Great features, but seriously buggy.
Mac
Constantly buffers even over wifi. Must download a podcast 20 times to get it to fully download. Atrix
Brett
Two stars, since its on my phone, just not the best UI for this type of application. Plus got a lot of unable to play prompts
Hashfunction
Wouldn't be paid to install this crap
Matt
I use it every day, but the scrubbing ability is an epic fail. Please fix!
Hassan
Pure crap! Get a grip Google!
Andy L
Wish it would work while USB is connected. Also loses place when resuming listening, goes back to the beginning.
Cory
Doesn't find many podcasts I search for, when some do show up they over a month old. Uninstaled.
Mitch
Was amazing, but now UNUSABLE since t-mobile now throttles MP3 downloads to 10kB/s :( Please help get t-mobile to stop this Google!
Jackbull
This app causes Slacker to pause when it stays open in the background.
Alex
Several bugs. Slider doesn't work. N1 on 2.2
Papa G
A very poor application. Much easier to use individual podcast websites. Cannot uninstall....very strange....DON'T DOWNLOAD
N
No longer supported, source not released, no good replacement. Buggy, skips alot when it actually plays podcasts which is getting rarer.
Calculus
When a download is incomplete there is now way to delete the file, instead I am forced to delete the cache and redownload every single file. Frustrati
Susan
Listen automatically deletes files. I'm redowng to iTunes.Hate throttling.Better off on wifi to iTunes to music player.Google deliberately fails.
jc
2x playback speed and stability is missing, stop deleting shows.
almundo
Please please stop it automatically deleting downloads.this would be a 5 star rating otherwise
Bobby
Nice app, ruined by bugs and lack of updates.
Nathan
Can we please get lock screen control. I would also like the option to NOT sync with Google Reader if we don't want to.
Jason
Can someone please make a widget control for this app? I just want play and pause. Is that too much to ask?
Andrew
Great App for Podcasts! very good application. Saves me from logging into doubletwist every few days and updating/downloading my podcasts. Integrates w/ google reader so it is very easy to find and add new podcasts.
nathan
If the features in this app actually worked, it'd be 5 stars, but they don't--so it ain't.
Tommy
Very buggy. Files sometimes disappear right after downloading.
Chris
Solid podcast player. Have to find feeds on your own, outside the app. Wish playlist mangement was better but otherwise very good.
Rhys
This app works sometimes. Shame about the other half of the time. Seek bar not work. Wont find things. Lots of other annoying things.
Susan
Doesn't seem to work w wifi now.
Ken
Request: speed change 2x. Move to SD card.
arubens1
Great app... when it works. Too often arepodcasts unable to stream because of "errors" and subscriptions turned off. You're better than this, Google
brian
Come on Google. Please fix. It WAS the only good podcast app I could find. Now no refresh.
Josh
It won't shut down its own process! :( always have to kill it by going to Running Services. Uses with tracking and searches ~ rooted Droid Incredible
Pierre
Best Android podcast manager This is the best Android podcast manager I have found in the Market. It was not the easiest app to find but worth the searching.
JM ツ
Use it with reader on pc and it works just great! Thank you Google labs!
tambourineman86
Love it. I can find everything I need here.
Mitch
Icon in notification tray will sometimes disappear while Listen is playing a podcast. But otherwise excellent! G2
Joshua
Work initially for abt a week. Now nothing works. Keep telling me an error occurred on the episode. Evo4g
kalos
Decent but lot of weird design choices. Why does search not look at podcast title?
Becky
Cuts off my podcasts, sometimes after 30 seconds. Also lots of error messages when trying to download.
Conor
Great idea but broken 1.4 v before that was a great player
Nigel
Useless. Does everything except play the podcast. Which is what it's supposed to do!
กิตติธัช
If it can play video podcast, it will be excellent!
Ezana
Utter garbage. It might just be the worst thing Google has ever engineered. On top of this, Google insists on getting my email account linked with it
Drew
Shockingly bad. Nexus S, gingerbread. Simply does not work. Google should be ashamed.
Peteabix
Good but needs better search function.
Avi
Very good....have been looking for a similar one..thanks google
Andrew
6months use now. Recent update made what was a reliable, basic but functional app pretty much rubbish. Deletes, overwrites, restarts regularly.
Daniel
Not all-perfect, but perfect at what it does. This app flowers in connection with reader.google.com. Items marked with "Listen Subscriptions" in Reader magically show up in "My Listen Items." This app does well as sidekick to Reader, where you already manage your subscriptions. However "browsing" for new feeds is clumsy. Wish there was a "popular" or "recommended" categories browser built in. Also wish there was a "double speed" playback mode (for skimming through long conversational podcasts faster).
jslan
Subscribe, download and listen. That's it. Great app!
LjNj
Tried to play, but to many errors during playback
Chris
A reliable podcast app for android? Yes please.
Max
Very nice, but lacks a share button.
dan
Such a great podcast app. Ease of use is a 5. Add casts using GRead website. Downloads ahead of time in background. Great for the train ride!
Andrew
Needs install to SD option.
Glenn
Can't fast foward or rewind w/out podcast starting over..... Very Annoying
Chad
Excellent app when it works. Has major problems when listening to a podcast and downloading it at the same time. Seek seems problematic.
Ryan Smith
Needs an option to schedule download times rather than just "4 hours" and whatnot. Video support would be nice. Other than that, it's great.
Joel
Very unintuitive interface, and major problems seeking in tracks. It's very poor by Google's standards. Get on the ball Google!
jackieo
I would give it 5 stars if I could move backward or forward in a podcast without it starting over. -htc evo
Steve
Often complains of network errors when other apps connect just fine. Often restart from the beginning mid-way through & then chops the end off.
Brian
Nice app
Kyle
Calm down, you can download; add the pod to your queue, go in to your queue, long press the queued pod, and select download.
Brandon
Aweful. Seekbar, rewind, & fast fwd dont work, they just restart the pod'. Pod will randomly stop if doing something else. So many other problems.....
Critter
Please finish developing this app, Google. It's about half way to awesome.
Adam
Just avoid this mess of a app. So annoying that Google can't get this right. I don't want to stream over 3g, kills my dataplan, let me download
trs
I like the idea, but i really love how you can't fast forward or rewind, and how it doesn't play half the time.
Luke
Works well on the G1. Great for podcasts. Minus one star because refreshing could be a little more intuitive.
Michael
Does not work on EVO
David
Started using it more and like it. Please.... 2x playback support, and support for video podcasts (those features are missing.)
Brandon
Would like it if the podcasts were saved with the original file names, so I would have the option of playing them in the standard player.
Mike
Love it! Works great for me. Set it to download over night via WiFi and charger, then I'm set for the day.
Jason
One of my favorite apps!
EmmVeePee
Pro: you can listen to podcasts Cons: you can't rewind, skip, fast forward. Can't load more than 12 episodes. Very poor job by Google
Homer Jay
Still feels very betaish. Doesn't crash but missing a lot of features. Can't handle large files very well. Looks kinda fugly.
Roy
Very great apps, it will great if it can add all the unlistened podcasts to "My Listen Items" after refresh.
ronny
Wow, this app is fantastic! I get my alex jones app and it plays in the background with the ability2rewind or ff! FIVE STARS (droid2)
JN
Listen turned you to be the most frequently used app in my phone. But beware if you have a limited data plan, it uses lots of data.
Dani
Widget, RW button, and special unlock screen integrating Listen controls would be a great addition.
coversnail
Sugesstions: option to NOT autoplay next podcast in queue, sort FF and RW buttons, support video podcast. At the moment 3/4 stars.
Josh
Buggy, doesn't autodownload properly, can only play currently downloading podcasts from the beginning (if you lose your place you're screwed)
anthony
Stopped working now I need to find another pod catcher
brad
Best/most used app on my phone! Stitcher sucks! Learn to use this app b4 rating. It downloads episodes so no dropped streams!
Ken
Lock screen needs play & pause buttons
Gerry W
Just really needs improving, copy the iPhone app... and nics to SD
Akeda
I wish there was a way to change the order in which stuff was played.
J
Use stitcher.... Google listen is too limited.. stitcher had all the pod casts needed
Anukul
Great until I wanted to seek to the middle of a podcast and it would start over. Please fix this
Clas
My Hero gets really crazy when this app is loaded. I can't make calls, the head set won't work and the phone is force closing.
marcus
Fantastic product, but with too many bugs! I really hope it gets fixed soon. A real shame the developers and/or Google don't get it working correctly!
Vasil
Please fix the seek function. I love this app but I'm not giving it more than 1 star without proper seek!
william
Works great. Love how it syncs with my gmail account.
M-Diddy
Best podcast app.
Phil
Doesn't work with my google reader account
ernesto
No pass test IVO- reinstall now work
GnPTurtle
Works OK, but doesn't update everything everytime. Realized that it doesn't because Reader doesn't update everytime...
Don
Even though set to update manually, constantly runs in background updating feeds. Please fix for my Mt3g's battery's sake.
Albert
Booom b!tch
Adam
Was great now it force closes about every 5 min. Captive with Froyo
Kevin
I used to like this app. It no longer bookmarks your place when you switch between podcasts. Extremely annoying. A deal breaker
Amber
Used 2 luv.now that the google accnt bug is fixed, I LIKE it again.I miss streaming! Works just fine if dl completely first, inc ff and rw. DInc
James
Very limited in organization
Seth
Restarts during playback. Otherwise very good.
Griff
I use this every day! Rewind and FF could be much better and have finer control. The slider doesn't work very well. Those improvements would be great!
Na
I don't know what's with all the problems but I've never had any problems nor force closes. Works great!
Samuel
Needs a widget and automated queueing. Otherwise great.
cputrdoc
Buggy fast forward and rewind. Droid incredible
AV Guys
Do you actually test this on phones? Your app dose not work period. Fix it or remove it from the app store.
Martin
Frustrating. Starts up and plays whenever I use my headset hard button to pause music! If I could disable that feature, is keep it.
Robert
My most used and most hated app. Random restarts, some podcast episodes won't load, and frequent force closes.
jakraay
Please fix recently broken sync! Otherwise great product.
/TJ
Had worked great for a year, sync has been failing for 17hrs :(
Mike
Great app. Still in GLabs so there are a few glitches.
okubax
Sync not working
Dave
Used to be a great, reliable app. no longer updates podcasts after upgrading to latest ver. DONT UPGRADE! App now broken.
Kevin Marks
Lots of glitches in 3g playback: losing place, restarting from the beginning. Always prompts when on a 3g network. Dies randomly in the background.
Hoi Shun Kelvin
Buggy
Lauren
So many bugs! Can't start listening where I left off. Buffering error every other time. Randomly stops and starts over. Can't fast forward. ETC ETC.
Eric
Many small, annoying bugs. Decent interface, but could be better. I think my sync may have died with last update -- unacceptable. Droid on Froyo.
Matt
Sync not working
Mark
Keeps telling me i need a google email. I have one and it won"t let me open it.
Aaron
Worked great till upgrade to 2.2 Now always gives the infamous add Google account error
Engerneer
Keeps asking for Google account after update. Had to uninstall.
Mel
Been using for a year with no major problems til now. All errors, and says no new episodes, won't let me subscribe to anything. Grrr. Moto Droid
fatejd
Would be 5 if I could control playback with BT headset.
bpell
I gave this a 1. It used to be a 5. It stops podcasts and restarts them at random intervals as of the last month for me. All fully downloaded.
kilbasar
Used to be great, but gets buggier with each update. Now it randomly skips around while playing. Useless.
Andrew
I join the ranks of others who get the "add Google account"... this used to be one of my favorite apps...
Kelvin
Conflicts with built-in Music player. FF / Rew from Bluetooth starts music in both players at once.
Michael
Please add a sleep timer!!!
Daniel
Good but restarts all the time. Not god if you are running etc.
Red Hot Lava
Politically Bias much Google? When I search for MSNBC, ABC, CNN & and other networks, 100s of items from networks show but FOX is hosed.DISAPPOINTING
Daniel
Don't try seeking forward or backward. It just rests to beginning and you can't get back to the place you were listening.
A
Looks great, works ok - queue is a little confusing, but fine once you get used to it. I wish the dev would fix all the timeout problems reported.
RichCowell
Great, but seems to limit podcast to the previous 10...
Scott
Still pretty buggy, but I use it regularly. Icon won't stay in notification bar which is annoying.
characterzero
Issues with DInc. Won't resume podcast where I left off if I close and restart it.
Alex
Good podcast app. However sometimes it freezes when buffering and the search could be a bit more thorough.
Duke
Great until it stopped working and is asking for another google account.
Allison
Loved this app till it started refusing to recognize my gmail acct.
Dave
Good potential, bad execution
Rafa
Google, what happened? Deleted for Doggcatcher.
Fareed
Seeking is prone to errors, and the app doesn't remember my place in a podcast if I switch to another podcast or quit the program. Needs a lot of work
Teflon Billy
Getting better
kiris
At least some of you got it to open. I can't get past the Gmail error screen.
Malik
You are Google! Everything should work.....same issue evo 2.2
Neil
Too many bugs on froyo. Controls completely unreliable. Too many playback errors. Come on Google.
tneedell
Buggy with podcasts looping. Wish it remembered my previous podcast so I didn't have to scroll down 100+ pods.
Chris
Simply doesn't work with froyo.
hector
I give it a rating 5/10. Problems: using buttons or seek bar to navigate through audio file, starts file over. No way to navigate back Droid X
Turo
Not working since froyo
alan
1 star cannot sync with Google account so won't work - desire
Garrett
Minor annoyances and problems with long podcasts. But great overall.
Jmp
Total piece of crap. Full of bugs and neglected by Google.
Pierre
Dont want to work with my gmail account. After 3 days it worked...
Anya
When I say deny access to my gmail account it should stop asking me to give access every five min. Super buggy after update Almost unusable
Scott
I listen to podcasts on Google Listen every day on my Samsung Vibrant. I do get confused sometimes & think I've downloaded something when I haven't.
Erin
Will not refresh/update subscribed podcasts sine Android 2.2 update on Moto Droid. :( Please fix!
Steven
Works as stated, but has one of the clunkiest interfaces on the droid!
Joe
Used 2 love Listen but newer versions have added serious bugs that have remained unfixed for months :(
Ryan
Have account, will not recognize. Will not launch. Evo.
Steve A
Very buggy. I need to reinstall constantly
abeckley
Listen still broken: requires a Gmail account to sync..Uninstalling. again. 2.2 on N1
Stephen
Still doesn't recognize gmail account. Totally unusable! When will google fix this? Running froyo on an htc aria.
ALok
Never automatically downloads anything. Refresh never works right, so you cannot even download manually. Gets killed on froyo cuz srvc is not foregrou
Mrs
This app has stopped downloading and playing. I keep getting error messages. It told me that downloading was against my phones policy. Magic HTC
Michael
Same problem as most everyone here - doesn't recognize my gmail account. Nexus one froyo
Robert
I love this application. Nice to have a self-contained podcast catcher. Integrated with Google Reader on line. Needs to improve playback control.
Daniel
Headphone controls very rarely work, and are completely inconsistent when they do. Used to be better. Please fix
Christopher
Won't recognize my gmail account. Evo 2.2
John
Interface is a little awkward, but it works well overall.
Ben Moon
After i got Froyo on my Evo, Listen won't let you navigate to certain spot in a podcast. Fail.
michael
More search functions needed
martin
Not work on my nexus. Not sync with my Gmail account ..
Luke
Amazing! Ff & Rw don't work well at all. Moto droid.
Sean Melton
Just doesn't seem to work anymore... That kinda sucks.
Tom
Only downloads podcasts when screen is on, HTC desire
Lane
Make a play/stop widget for this and 5 stars.
Rebecca
Doesn't upload from my google account...disappointing...i hope that gets fixed soon.
Fernando
Yeah.. not recognizes my account neither ... bad bad bad ... my only hope to listen to a foreign podcast
Angrybubblz
Total bug-o-rama
Amy
Since the upgrade, none of my feeds have been updating. Used to work great for me, but now it's not working at all.
Kenneth
The app is great, but the search algorithm sucks. It cannot find anything I search for.
BKuhn
Needs to stay off when answering calls
guitarplyr2255
I have absolutely 0 problems with this app.
Brian
Great podcast app. Would give 5 stars for a widget or standard music player integration. Would like to start/stop playback with Apple headphones.
paulohlp
Is great, but doesn't tell duration correctly.
Jon
Problems: play/pause skips tracks and invokes android music player - Wont keep screen on when plugged in - Proprietary audio extension on podcasts.
Protoman
So incredibly buggy. Wont play ANY podcast until the episode is 100% downloaded. Been using since its release and its still no good. Wtf Google?
Jmp
Great potential but w/every update comes new problems. This app is extremely frustrating.
DyOH
Loves it! :) get my fix of terry gross. And all npr on my Droid. <3 Google.
Wayne
I love it...works perfectly...seamless integration with google reader...just wish it could read the rest of the rss feeds on there also.
Michael
A little buggy, but good nonetheless. The fact that it syncs with your audio subscriptions on Google Reader is a plus.
Imad
The last update ruined what was a great app.
Aaron
Great concept, but a little buggy for prime time. I saw Google literally include Listen in their GoogleTV announcement. Needs a hefty round of QA.
Aide
Fantastic if only it did video too
Sean
Soooooooooooooo buggy and unpredictable. Eh, its free though.
Brad
Won't work if you use a Google Apps account to manage email. Fast forward and rewind dont work well.
Slava
My most used pod cast player. Other than podcasts pausing inappropriately, which might be my phone's fault, it is great.
Martin
can't find much worth listening there.
John
Nice app! The scroll bar doesn't work though on droid eris. No matter where you shift it to it restarts pod cast.
Dave
Reader integration is still annoying but I can work around that
Spider
Works great, I've been looking for this for a long time.
Gunnar
you cannot seek through a podcast whatsoever.
Navjeet
Seeking has some issues. Rest google good.
Cory
Best free podcast app I've used. Would be great if it was a mobile Google Reader and did text and video RSS too.
Ollie
Wow Google! Love it! Simple, efficient and works great! I now love podcasts! :)
Firass
Still needs some tweaking, but that is to be expected from a beta product. At least now I can get all my podcasts on the go without the need for a PC
dan
A) search still can't find some podcasts B) integration of 'new episodes' with google reader doesn't work sensibly
Ise
Doesnt get the latest podcast despite I could view it in my RSS reader
dhoang
This is an awesome app.
ts
A! H? ! AMC V
Johanna
Works much better after updates.
Bobby
Very nice app if a little unreliable. Come on Google, how hard is it to write a podcast app?
Mitch
Broken by update. Won't check for new episodes, trouble playing some episodes, etc. Would happily revert.
Cian
Only refreshes over WiFi not 3G.
Lance
Please fix, the app does not refresh subscriptions properly. Five stars once this is fixed.
Drew
Love this app, but it really kills my phone when running. So much lag :(
tut
Suddenly Works after 1.1.2 update. Has the edge over other apps because you can slide forward with the progress bar.
Ryan Hart
Great app
GoodDamon
OK, 5 stars again, and the integration with Google Reader is awesome. Upgrade really should have been smoother, though.
Timothy
Was good. Now flaky with random podcast restarts and timebar that doesn't match actual place in file
Gustavo
