This is the best siri knock off so far. That being said, it still sucks pretty bad and still will hardly do anything right. It couldn't tell me who Elvis was, it wouldn't search the internet for me no matter how many different ways I tried, and when I asked it "can you smell what the rock is cookin", it gave me some recipes for stuff like spicy mac n cheese. I kept that one. Just keep using the stock voice actions from Google, ESPECIALLY if you're rockin' ICS new voice control.

Need more updates I cant get phone numbers for stores even. I rated it a 5 bc of the speed in which they released a siri competitor but to be honest since I hvnt noticed much change. I don't understand why I ask a question then iris asks me a question and the reply has nothing to do with the orginal subject. Good luck designers ill b happy to pay when it becomes more useful

I think if it does not repeat everything like "you asked" then it will be a bit more natural. And maybe if the src parr is not spoken after a search. Otherwise it is fun to use!

This application is still primitive. I asked it how far away norway was from my current location. She heard me correctly and transcribed correctly into the search window, But the search results came back with an address for a theater in kansas. Uninstalling and waiting for the beta.

Love it!! Iris is great. Lets you ask anything except i would like it to answer with more "adult" answers. Maybe an ADULT version of Iris could be released aswell. Ive downloaded and sampled other chatterbots but none are as good as this.

The app is pretty good. It's improved far from the first-look videos on YouTube. The UI is clean and minimalistic. It is ad-supported. It still has difficulty reading text results, especially with definitions.

I asked it "what is the best way to enjoy marijuana?" And it said "I like to smoke marijuana from a water pipe with my friends" obviously, the correct answer. I asked my friend's Siri and it replied "the best way to die? ..." so iris definitely is smarter than Siri, and just fun!

You should remove the splash screen, it's unnecessary delay when you just want to get straight to the app. 2) when you long press the app, it should automatically start recording for convenience. These are the only things stopping this from getting a 5 star.. Hope this helps your development and look forward to seeing these in the next version!

Works really well. Does not seem to integrate with my Vizio [86.99.68.181] vtab hardware well.. But I asked it for the fastest production csr and it was correct.. and it gave a detailed response with a reference source. Voice needs much improvement.

I gave it a five initially but now its good for nothing, I ask it for a movie recommendation and it asks me to recommended one to it, it doesn't even search info now, just a plain dictionary, waste of time, really dissapointed, the initial versions were better.

Being an alpha version of the app makes it quite good it is really helpful if you speak really smart . Iris answered pretty much everything I threw at her she used google utilities in very well mannered. I mean just look at me bout like this app so much I'm actually using 'she' to describe it. By the way this in tire review has been written using google's voice recognition its good but not yet complete

Very beautiful interface. But it just looks good. Functionally, please make it more easy to use. Also, The Assistant for Android does a much better job at giving thoughtful responses.

I raced manual method vs iphone siri and manual won every time. Much faster to tap a icon than to ask a question and wait. That said: this app is a hit at parties. Ask it dumb questions, it's hilarious. Good job.

Every time I ask "where", it thinks I'm saying "strayer" no matter how many times I ask or variations in pronoucement. Frustrating. Lots of other recognition issues.

After the update, the user interface looks horrible! It no longer shows previous questions asked, and only shows one question and one answer page. Swiping left and right to look through previous questions was not smooth! Despite a nice new white background, the new way if viewing previous questions was horrible. Take this way please Dexetra!

Such a great app. The only issue is that she tries to answer everything as a question. I wish I could just talk to her LOL. Otherwise, she is pretty on point. So metimes she gets words wrong. Maybe have a way to correct that or a way to input spoken words? For people that don't speak clearly or have an accent. Took a while for Iris to understand Siri. Great n thanks MUCH!!!

Fun and funny, has a lot of potential, but uses way too much resources even when not in use. Phone became really slow and I was unable to play any game until I uninstalled and restarted the phone. Now everything is working normally. I will give it another try if fix.

Its gotten better. I can't decide weather to use this or skyvi I though, there both about the same. I only had one problem with this and it wasn't sending my texts but iv recently tried and it works now so idk why that way. Keep the updates coming to make this stand out.

Iris is a good app, but fails in a couple areas. When siri doesn't understand you, she'll tell you and recommend a Google search, iris will just ask you an unrelated question. Iris cannot do Google searches, create calendar events or interact with any other app in any way. Iris was just too half-baked.

I don't see a real need for it besides entertainment. I have tried texting people & it says it was sent but it never really is. All the productive traits can be done just as easily while using Google speech search. Good for being alpha stage though. Worth a try

I love this app! it's easy to use and she can answer most questions:) best 'siri copy' i've seen about. Only downside is the voise used it's too computerised and would be better off if it actually had a voice like siri, but that's the only problem i've had so far! overall good app:)x

This is very excellent, it can answer questions with great accuracy. It even has the comedy side to it like Siri, just ask it to tell you a joke or talk to it about random things, for example it doesn't think much of Steve Jobs, "he hasn't done anything to it". Commands for call and play music work ok too. Very cool and fun software for free. Not as good as Siri, but definitely the next best thing for Android. Keep up the development!

Doesn't speak out loud on my device or maybe it doesn't support 3rd party TTS? It doesn't even give appropriate answers, very poor responses. Quite unintelligent AI if you ask me. The UI is made for a phone, looks horrible on a tablet.

Iris comes up with weird answers. Also, everytime I ask a question it replies with "Your answer is". Well its not my answer, I'm the one asking the question. It is Iris' answer. If I knew the answer I would not need Iris.

Anyone who is a huge fan of Siri on the iPhone definitely needs to get this app. It does everything that Siri will do, so its pretty amazing! But I will say that Siris voice is less robotic. But it doesnt matter because it still tells you what you need to know. Very fun to.mess with. Good Job and please keep updating.

I really would like a widget. Also it is a little glitchy when asking about movies. It recommends rentals, but wont tell,me about new movies in the theatre. I may be asking wrong. I like the app though. I wont be removing it.

It comes in handy and works just fine on my htc G2. It would get 5 stars from me, but it needs a volume control. I try to lower the volume even as iris speaks, but it only lowers the ring volume

I havent had the chance to see just how practical Iris is yet (i.e. driving down the street, background noise, etc), but just messing around with the app at home has really got me hopefull! Very informative answers to my questions and seems like Iris has a much better time understanding my commands than all the other Siri-like apps I have tried. Keep up the good work on this one!

Not bad not bad, asked it about the size of my member... It told me to "relax big boy", gave me the average size and then told me the biggest on record. It ended by saying something about size doesn't matter, motion in the ocean and whatnot... Needless to say I was lol literally and impressed cuz that's a normal answer from a woman

This app is almost there it just needs a little work like being able to send a message one shot so that it doesnt ask you to who or ask who to send the message to and it needs be able to launch independent apps and a wake command but otherwise it is on the verge of greatness

Very fun and funny to chat with. Asked if she likes bowls. She thought I asked if she liked my balls! 5 stars for the laughing alone. Although a lot of fun it didn't always give me fact based answers and seems slanted towards the response authors opinion rather then impirical evidence.

Not very accessible Screen readers try to read the prompt to speak, but the app hears the screen reader and not the person trying to give it commands. Can you gag the prompt? The beep is good enough. Also, the button to speak is unlabeled.

I have not used the App yet, but I do know what "alpha" means. I wish people would stop giving bad reviews for App's that are new, because they don't understand the fact that it is in testing stage. For those of you that don't know, "alpha" means the App is in testing stage and might not work correctly and is NOT finished. If you are NOT willing to deal with this fact, DON'T try it!

voice recognition is generally good but has issues with 'a' and 'e'. Could not find some of my contacts because vr assumes an e in most cases where there may be some ambiguity.

I would like it more if it had listening capabilities, like Vlingo-in-car, and if it was useful for more then just getting funny, smart assed answers. This app is horrible. It doesn't provide much function over the stock voice recognition software. Answers are either attempts at humorous canned responses or completely incorrect. The fact that they want to brag they developed a "Siri competitor" in 8 hours is a joke. Its not remotely close to that. The only thing I got Iris to do right was make a phone call, but instead of just calling the contact it asked me to approve it, thus adding an extra step over the default voice software. Waste of time.

Obviously most of you haven't read up on it. It's only in the alpha stage which is pretty much ground zero so of course there is going to be bugs right now the only things you can ask it is to a call a contact or search the web. Ask it questions about the past not the future. You can't ask it about the weather or to open apps yet or anything like that. Just wait for some updates. After a few months it will be better than siri for iphone ever was. Its still pretty good. Can't ask it to text yet though.

Not only is siri/iris a gimmick and really has no real fluid use in a touchscreen smartphone its also a FREE application, don't complain about free things, just uninstall if its not your thing. When asking simple commands like what is the weather, it reports some random garbage and not the actual weather forecast. I see it more fit to use a combination of Vlingo and Google Voice Search for my needs as those actually work. This app, sadly, doesn't work well and doesn't respond correctly to the commands given. I wouldn't recommend it at this time.

Great job! Its a lot of fun, and my girlfriend played with it for about an hour asking various questions. Is it Siri? No. But, what do you expect for 8 hours. If the app continues to be developed, I would pay for something with Siri-like functionality (weather forecasts, antecedent understanding, scheduling reminders, wide app interface support, etc) and Iris' current snark. I'd love to see more development on this!

I've noticed that when i ask iris to look up a contact it doesn't use my contacts app Go Contacts Ex. Right now it just uses the default one that came on the phone even though i have Go Contacts Ex as the default. This is something that needs to be looked into getting fixed for future versions

LOL! Best laugh I've had in weeks! I've got plenty of TTS apps on my Samsung Galaxy Tab and they operate brilliantly, especially Digital Recipe and my Google GPS. Iris, however, is like a BFF, who is constantly drunk! I said, "Nearest Burrington Coat Factory" and Iris replied, "Do you like me?" Bwhahhaaaaaaaa! Just love the fact that Android has had voice commands/actions for over a year, yet the iLovers just got it and, as usual, ga ga about the technology. iris was built in 8 hours (according to the developer webpage). Awesome work for such small development time! As with other voice features, it has difficulty understanding the British accent, but its getting better! Oh, and if you want a better voice, install/buy SVOX classic. This works perfectly with this TTS and makes Iris much more life like!

Five stars for the concept and for its "anything you can do I can do better, well maybe not better" attitude. Obviously an alpha, as someone mentioned (all in caps, I know you are ticked, but it's still rude.) I look forward to improvements, but for now it is funny to see what it comes up with. "What time is it" returned an answer 35 minutes in the future, so obviously this is a forward looking app.
Gives you some good gag answers to joke questions. Not very usefull though, if you want a usefull assistant, try "speaktoit", but this is more fun.

For those saying how little it can do should remember it's still in alpha (software testing). They already know It's pretty much showing the potential of the technology which to me is incredible. The first edition of this was made in 6-8 hours for crying out loud. Give it some time to move onto a beta, and a full release before complaining about what it can't do.

I did install the SVOX Classic as mentioned below and I have to say that I am really impressed. I would love to see a design as shown in the screenshot on the dev's website. I like the simplicity. It just works, albiet a little off at times but still very handy once the app matures a bit more.

It's funny and works but you must deal with a true non-productive personal assistive. You must fight your way through it's jokes to make it actually work. For an 8 hour project, surely impressed. in the meantime I'll use SpeakToIt. It works while having minor humor (less than Siri or iris but more than nothing) intact. non the less Keep it up! This works great. Iris likes cats apparently :) Some of the reviews are holding it.... errrr doing it wrong. Say, "tell me about __________". I get pictures, blurbs, it read back to me, and the option to click for more info". This is not "just google search". Great work Dexetra, also heard from a news story that it only took 8 hours to program the app! WOW!!!

I get a message that say "no speech input". A window appear to choose between" Pico TTS" or "Samsung TTS". It doesnt matter wich one i choose nothing happen with this app. Im an ignorant about this stuff so any recommendation will be appreciated on what I should do/download to fix this. SGS2.

For an alpha product, Iris is fun and there's so much room for improvement. She can look up most of my contacts without a hitch (some common names like "Kaitlyn" give her problems), send texts, and do google searches. She's worse than I am at math, though! I would love to see a widget in future releases.

Love the app on my GFs stock NS4G. Its hilarious and a great way to pass time. However when I open the app on my Epic 4G runnong CM7, it says "no voice input". =/ I gurss its got to be something broken in the CM7 ROM as its still in an alpha phase. Great job on the app nevertheless .

Im going to simply say that it is going to be a great app once it gets up and going more. For me it worked just fine on my Htc Inspire 4G. i would ask it questions and it would give funny feed back. But when i wanted it to send out an email or a text it would just come back with something not even related. The phone calling option worked fine for me and that was nice. I did ask the question of where is the nearest Taco Bell and it told me in the " Mushroom Kingdom.." what ever that means. Needs sum Work.

My only real criticism is the lack of ability to turn off the reply. I.E. you asked: "how do I turn off the auto reply". I know some people will want it but myself, I would prefer the ption to turn it off in a menu when you get the time to implement it.
