Android users from 190 countries download apps every day, according to one of the infographics. The U.S. is not the most app crazed country either — it ranked fourth behind South Korea (no. 1), Hong Kong (no. 2) and Taiwan (no. 3). Rounding out the top ten includes Singapore (no. 5), Sweden (no. 6), Israel (no. 7), Denmark (no. 8), the Netherlands (no. 9) and Norway (no. 10). Meanwhile, the top categories for Android app downloads include games (25.6%), entertainment (12.2%), tools (11.7%), music (4.28%) and social (4.08%). A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about my first experiences with the Galaxy Tab 10.1. I noted that while its hardware is excellent, there’s a distinct shortage of tablet apps for Android. Most apps will work just fine, but they’ll make poor use of a tablet’s screen real estate. But things are definitely improving. New apps are coming out daily. I’ve tried quite a few of them, and I thought I’d do a quick rundown of the apps I’m actually using on a daily basis. Feedly turns RSS feeds into a stunning digital magazine. The popular web service for movie and TV info known as the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) has just arrived for Android phones in the form of a new mobile application. Like its iPhone sibling, which launched six months prior, the Android application has an optimized user interface for the small screen of mobile devices. Within the app, you can search for movie and TV info, actors' bios, crew info, listings, reviews, trailers and anything else you could find via its desktop-sized website for PCs. Eu fiz uma review negativa em tempos, mas finalemnte alteraram o maior problema que esta app tinha. Agora ja da para fazer login, fazer rating e por filmes na watchlist. Agora ate tem notificaçoes... Para ser perfeito faltava so fazer notificaçoes para os episodios das series como o The Series Notifier faz, mas com o tempo devem caminhar para lá. Passou de 1 para 5 estrelas.

Excellent app. Only feature I really miss is the ability to sort the watchlist by title (A-Z). Can get tricky to manage when you have a hundred or more films in there! Otherwise top notch.

Has been a great app on phone and tablet, use everyday. Phone recently seems to have large battery drain once app launched unless manually force closed. Maybe since ics upgrade, or my phone as no one else seems to be reporting issues. Awaiting dev reply.

Re: IMBD's response to my complaint that videos won't play w/o stoping 5~6 times. Even the shortest: Previews that are MINUTES long .( ... When you reply to my email that 'you don't respond to individuals' that REALLY means 'you don't care wht you customer thinks. So, seriously.... what's the point of you guys sending me notifications for previews, when I can't WATCH THE VIDEOS w/o a major hassle. BOO~HISS!! This app is a waste for watching previews. You scroll thru the trailers in the Coming Soon section. Pick something to watch, and then decide to go back to the list to see what else is coming. Does it take you back to where you left off...nope, back to the top of the list. Come on IMDB app. This makes watching the trailers very annoying. Dont you use your own app? You would be annoyed by this too.

I don't like apps spamming me with notifications. There's no need for notifications in this app, and any that uses them should allow for the user to disable them, which this app fails to do.

This is a great app and I use it all the time but it seems in the new redesign they got rid of one of my favorite features, the "Latest Trailers" tab. Don't get me wrong you can still watch trailers but I liked having them all on screen newest at the top and being able to scroll through them quickly. I had to give 3 stars because I hate seeing developers removing features in new updates.

Having recently changed to Android from iOS I love to see that the developers has kept the great design and usability in the Android version. I really like the "Watchlist" and use it all the time, but I would like to see an equivalent like "Movies I have seen" - or at least a way of marking a movie in the watchlist as watched, instead of having to make a new custom list.

New update is buggy :-( When I start a trailer and then pause it untill it buffer, the phone go to screen saver, but when I unlock the phone the trailer start reloading from the beginning !!! Why did you make 720p trailers wifi only? My Verizon LTE connection is faster than my Comcast cable and even if I was on 3g who cares about giving access to me if I want to buffer forever that's my prerogative.. give me 720p trailers over ANY connection.. otherwise great app that's getting better each update tho!

This was such a great app until the last update. Whilst still great for searching for movies etc. it's terrible for news now - where is the news section gone? I have switched on news notifications but it really kinda sucks. And why the hell is my news notification showing me articles from a week ago, with no 'refresh' option? I was quite happy browsing news articles before. And why no trailers? This was awesome for trailers before. Really considering uninstalling.

I downloaded both this app & Flixster & I prefer THIS app. Why? As I mentioned in my review of Flixster, the movie trailers in Flixster look horrible! They're very pixelated & I have a Samsung Galaxy S II (with a super AMOLED screen so picture quality should NOT be a problem). IMDb on the other hand, the movie trailers are pixel perfect! Absolutely HD beautiful. So 5 stars for IMDb.

This app has been great every time I have used it. Lot's of good info including trivia and quotes about the cast and movie. The only thing holding back 5 stars is that it doesn't give a description of each movie. Some have a read at your own risk synopsis which is good and helps you keep up if tuning in late or if you feel worth watching. I really use this app a lot!!

Got to you phone settings then language and keyboard. It shows English but if you select it, it shows German. Change it to English and then you will have your IMDB back!

I love IMDB. It is my first resource for movie and TV trivia or trailers. However, the one major gripe I have about this app is that after browsing the details of a movie, it brings you back to the top of the previous list when you back out. It should keep you at the same spot in the list, so you may continue browsing. That is a simple, yet important, feature that should be implemented at once. Then, I will change my rating to 5 Stars.

Better than Flixster's app, but still room for improvement. I like the notifications, but I wish that it did two things: 1) I wish there were some kind of icon when viewing a movie list to see that it's on your watch list. 2) I wish I could sort the watch list in an actual usable manner - Like, say in movie release date order, grouped by release date, or some such. I suggested something like this to Flixster, and they haven't implemented it yet.

Never asked for notifications. I have precious little time for movies, and when I see something I like, IMDB generally helps me find other titles I may like, either by actor, director, writer, or whatever. For this, IMDB is the best there is. Still, notifications should be OFF by default. Just because I was curious ONE TIME, what other movies Kristin Wiig was in, doesn't mean I want to be notified when the paparazzi caught her at a male strip club. Why should I really care? Also, the notification configuration is designed very poorly. It took me more than 5 minutes to find and turn off notifications one by one for every conceivable kind of information by . Give me a bloody master switch, for crying out loud.

This is my goto app for when I can't remember an actors movie history or if im interested in movie trivia.

I use this app pretty much every other hour, however, there are a few things that just dont make sense. like a shows synopsis, when they to long it just ends it with "..." sometimes mid sentence sometimes mid-word. It does not allow you to expand to keep reading, no side bar button for more info, it just ends. Also, actor information is another thing. some bits of info is cut off completly, like years on a show or how many episodes they have been on, blah blah blah. All these things make you have to resort to the website which doesnt it defeant the purpose of having the app in the first place?! its the little things, always the little things.

Where are the features for IMDB registered users? Great for finding quick info but I can't use forums, rate movies, write reviews... basically, anything interactive is off limits. Why?? It can't be that difficult to allow users to login to their accounts and access the social features that we use on the 'desktop' version of the site. Hey, IMDB.. it's freakin' 2011!
