Google Music has gone and gotten itself an update in the Market, and that Beta tag has finally been lost. That's right folks, invitations are no longer required and Google Music is open to all. Open to all though still only applies if you're within the U.S., so for the rest of us, there's still no official way of setting up an account. The application update also brings with it a host of bug fixes, and the seamless integration with the Music store in the Android Market. The application received an update in the Android Market yesterday, bumping us up to version 4.1.511. Of course, there’s nothing new stated in the changelogs yet, but from what I can tell, there are a couple of UI additions that weren’t previously there. The two things I’ve noticed so far (please correct me if I am wrong) are the Market and search button in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. Unless I have somehow managed to overlook them, these are new goods that will help to simplify navigation and discover new music from Google’s Music Store. The UI also looks a bit more ICS-ish, but I’m also running an Ice Cream Sandwich ROM, so I’m not sure how much of an effect that has. At any rate, it’s time to get your updating shoes on, kids. Here we have our first look at the new and improved Google Music app, which -- surprise, surprise -- is pretty much what we saw tucked into an early Ice Cream Sandwich build. The fellows at Android Police have their hands on a couple new apps from the Ice Cream Sandwich build that's floating around out there (how 'bout a dump for the community, Mr. Anon?), and with it comes with new Google Music and Google+ apps. The new music app has a bit of a UI makeover, with more sleek (and less screen real-estate wasting) controls, most noticeable in the "now playing" screen, and a search button has been included since ICS has no dedicated search key. It appears that everything we know and love about Google Music is there, but in a more refined package. The Google+ app at first look appears much like the current version in the Android Market, until you look at the Huddle Messenger portion. Its a good music player. Better than the stock one. It needs lock and notification screen controls but it is pretty good. Also needs an equilizer. I like that you don't have to connect your device to the computer to get music also that you can edit it. I think it needs a little better UI and to store music on sd card

Two stars nuff said...i can't delete the corrupted music files the app downloadEd to my phone... When i found the songs in my phone guess what? They're all numbered with no id info so i can't delete the damaged files...sigh this app has very poor data options in fact they're completly missing... Google come on you can do better then this... Add options to send to sd understand and data management settings and options in your settings ui, also lock screen and notification scren controls understaaaaaand? ? ?

This app is very useful, as i use it on my ony Google TV anf my Epic 4g Touch. I love it, but it has more bugs than a monkey from the amazon. Music is often not kept in order from playlists -I often find myself deleting and reinstalling Google Music from my computer and reinstalling it. It fixes the issues temporarily, but then its back to the same thing again. Also, it is very buggy on my GTV; it often freezes and shuts down by itself. i deleted and tried reinstalling in the "Play Store" (I don't know why the heck they started calling it that in the first place) but the app say 's that it is "No longer available." luckily i was able to download it to my GTV from my GTV's browser. all in all, this app is a useful tool but in need of some serious updating and consistency. If Google products were more consistent and less buggy, Apple wouldn't stand a chance.

I've always had a good experience with this app there's not much that could go wrong for an app like this, it simply plays your music. It's always worked for me. 4 stars because I feel like somethings missing but I don't know what it is
I love the idea, and I don't hate the app. But it desperately needs an update to fix all the bugs. If that happens, it will get my 5 stars, and android would finally be able to truly compete with iphone as music player.

Concept is great and interface is fine, but it won't reliably add new music. The only guaranteed way I've found to get it to refresh the songs is to uninstall/reinstall.

Hi, I like this app a lot. I wish I could change the font I cant read some of my playlist names they are too long. If Icould push the search button and type one letter and see search results for items starting with that letter that would be helpful. Also the only tab I want to use is playlists but the artwork doesnt show up in that view. Finally the little hedphones button that goes back to the main screen and the searchshould be bigger are hard to access while working out. Thanks. God bless. Aaron.

Why would a company dictate which music player one uses to listen to the music one purchased? This app is terrible, and quits out during use, and doesnt even load the music i resently purchased. Google is terrible with their apps. Should consider sticking as a search engine....

... Which is hardly ever. Absolutely pointless. I've given this app so many chances. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. The old glitches were resolved, but now I've got new, more irritating ones! Awesome! Unreliable, unusable, and glitchy beyond belief. This new trend in quality with Google makes me livid. No one wants a new icon! Just give us the overdue update for an app that WORKS.

Okay, I used to like it before the play update. It does not work very well on my rooted Photon with Miui ICS on it. Ew. I think I better use my 32gb card to use and put my music on there. Plus the Miui player is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen! So long Play!

This app is complete garbage. I love the service, and the web version works great on a computer, but this app is the most unreliable POS. It never updates the changes I've made no matter how many times I tell it to refresh. I constantly have to uninstall and reinstall the app just to see the changes I made. Not to mention my free and purchased playlist doesn't show up.

This is my first review. But this app is incredible. It delivers what it promises. I can easily sync my itunes to my phone. Uploading took a while but with 4000 songs, I expected that. This app has worked perfectly on my epic and I absolutely recommend it!

This app is great except for a couple small things. First, it would be great to not have to go all the way back into the app every time I wanna skip to the next song. Second, it's a bit annoying that a buffering song will start over completely. Please fix!

I LOVE THIS APP! I have had no issues with it. I completely abandoned iTunes for Google music. Will only get better with upgrades. "Could use lock screen controls though". Next up grade maybe!

The app has a realy great GUI, and syncing works great (minus a few odd bugs here and there). However, the biggest reason why this isn't my main music player is due to the lack of an equalizer. I would really like to see this included in the next versiøn, along with a similar service for videos that play music has. Overall, its a really great app that i would recommend to anyone.

Needs better way of syncing. It would be awesome if it had desktop software for managing your music. As of now. If I change the metadata on my computer it sync that change to the web....which sucks.

The lock screen controls in Google Music hide the current date when I enable Security (pattern, pin, etc) which is information I need at a glance without unlocking my phone. Everything else is great!

Love Android products, and I use this app all the time. However recently purchased a A/V Reciver that has DLNA and Airplay. My phone can push music via DLNA but this app wont support. This factor alone makes me go back to Apple products. GOOGLE your big brother APPLE is kicking your butt because you forgot to integrate a simple feature already on so many phones!

This app still has issues. First, my music will not sync to my mobile device. First, it only synched maybe 20 songs out of 120. I tried everything to get it to sync the rest, but nothing has worked. I installed the app and reinstalled, and now none of my music is synching. This app is useless if they don't fix it. And soon before I uninstall for good

You'll get 5 stars when you integrate an equalizer or SRS effects that are available on some phones. UI is good, anyone who thinks otherwise is probably a scrub or doesn't know any better.

The biggest issue i have is, the music i've removed from the web will not refresh to the app. Tons of cover art missing, no good playlist options. That being said, fix that....great app.

I like the app. I like being able to add my own music for free... however, 1 star because there are a lot of popular songs/artists that aren't supported. Some songs can only be got by purchasing an entire album. Need lock screen options! I had all of my songs available offline, however, for no reason cover art and song titles got all mixed up! The only fixed was clearing app data. Very annoying!!! Still has lots of work if it's ever going to match up to iTunes... -_-

It seems sweet until you realize that anything you buy won't show up on any other music player...then half the album artwork is missing....oh, & guess what? None of the artwork grabber apps on the market will work with Google Play! Get it right Google!! If we wanted someone to control everything, we would've bought an Apple product!

This app really is very good, with only a few bugs. The first is when you put shuffle on, it doesn't go through all the songs before playing a same song again. Another problem is that the playlists that I make don't keep the songs in them. I'll add songs and then listen to the playlists but if I leave the playlist song loop, the songs will be erased from the playlist leaving it empty

I've had it for a month and realized that it screws up some artist info and puts all unknown songs under any artist with a unknown album instead of just the artists songs. It started playing with glitches recently and started playing songs by itself, pushing buttons and refused to play when the screen was not backlit. Just uninstalled and hopefully will work again. Other than that its great.

I cannot express in words how much i hate this app. It is not really very intuitive. The GUI is soooo annoying. And please stop sending me music recommendations. If there is a way to stop this, I have a life and can't be bothered to figure it out. I think I've only written one other bad review but I am just so disappointed in this.

I love the accessibility of my music, as with all gapps and my data, but the UI of google music leaves a lot to be desired. I find it a bit clunky and that it just needs work. That said, i use it exclusively and don't plan on changing. I've recommended to countless friends, and so many I know are now using it. Keep up the good work. Also +1 to the comment for an improved lock screen controls.

Where are the updates?! The last update was just a change in the icon and name! Here's a few... 1. Better widget w/ a prev. button, maybe mini album art like in the ICS lockscreen. 2. Bug fix when selecting a playing song, from anywhere in the app it will restart the song from the beginning, fix it to keep the song playing, not start it over! 3. BETTER shuffle! 4. Some sort of Equalizer. 5. Basic mp3 editor. 6. Ringtone support. Thats just a few, it's all possible. Don't abandon your users Google!!!

Overall I'm pretty happy with it but like most of the comments on here, there are little things about it I don't like. No lock screen controls is a big one! There are Third-Party developers that have lock screen controls on there music apps I mean Google c'mon! Plus the widget is a little lacking, you guys should spice it up a little bit! The UI is pretty intuitive, no complaints there.

I would like to see this work more fluidly. A lot of bugs to work out yet. Add a queue option for tracks so i can pick my next song. Also would be cool if the lock screen had controls to change song, pause, etc

Totally non intuitive User interface. Its a music player for god sake. I don't see a play button until I click on the little corner arrow. Stop over thinking make a simple music player. This should integrate with the built in music player. Why do we need two music players. That's makes Apple better. Keep things simple stupid.

What would really polish this app off is the ability to upload and manage my Google music directly from the app. This would free me from having to us “one of those other computers” to upload my music. If it had that capability I would give it 5 stars.

Purchased a few albums, and was dismayed to find out that Google encodes & labels their Play music files so that it is very difficult for my music player of choice to recognize them. Shame on you for stooping down to Apple's level of disrespect for the consumer. I'll buy my music from Amazon instead.

no complaints about the current app, but is it possible to code in DAAP services capabilities in future releases? iTunes offers it, so why shouldn't Google? the current DAAP client app in the Android market is very basic & doesn't have album art, so perhaps adding that could be considered as well...

On my rooted Nook Color with ICS CM9, the app didn't work so great; wouldn't play music offline and some songs it wouldn't play at all. Now that I have the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, I am playing it right now as we speak, and it is smooth sailing so far. Could the app still use some work - yes- but I'll use it over Itunes any day!

Great app. But still feels like beta, as others have mentioned. Would love a move to SD card option, as it's rather big, compared with other music apps. Playlists could be better. Love that it finds all of my music and the fact that I can stream music or save it to my phone.

However please add better scrubbing capability for long tracks it jumps too easy. Allow a way for long song titles to scroll, improve searching, and remove default to "recent" page everytime I open I have to swipe over like 5 times to get to my playlists.

I love most of the app. It could use a little flushing out, but it's otherwise awesome. Two major features are missing however. 1) there is no lock screen player for me. Tf201 ics 403 2) there's no option to purchase extended music capacity. I'd gladly pay $2.99 per 50k additional songs. final thought: the concept behind play music needs to be taken to videos and books as well, and something similar added for apps as well. When I can buy 50k extra song slots for $2.99 and at least play/pause/prev/next from the lockscreen, this app gets 5 stars.

Google Play Music is absolutely brilliant, in my opinion. It saves me several gigabytes of space, and the music streaming works flawlessly. The only problem that I encounter is horribly pixelated (and sometimes missing) album art for almost everything in the library. I sync Google Play Music to Windows Media Player on my computer, where I have album art for everything. If this issue was fixed, this would be a perfect app with no flaws...

The music player is great. However it has one major bug that needs fixed. It often deletes my songs marked available offline and re-downloads them. It's rather annoying and needs to be fixed.

Google Play Music is simply great. The UI is wonderful. Having the ability to store so many songs in the cloud is nice. Sure some things could be added but this app is both more beautiful and functional than other music apps I have tried. :-)

I love the smooth GUI and music on the cloud. No more storage space issues. And to everyone bitching about the lockscreen, I have no clue why you are complaining. My lockscreen on G2x has pause, play, skip and back ....works like a charm.

I love this! However, I experienced sync problems with my first album. Uploaded was 13 songs. Music manager said 13 were uploaded but Google Music only showed 12. I had to split the upload to get all 13.

Needs pause/next buttons in the pull down menu and ringtone support. Also, navigation is rather difficult when you have to press the tiny logo in the upper left corner to go up one menu

This app needs a couple things: Equalizer, integration with the phone's local system, and ability to communicate with the app via headphones. Equalizer: This just flat out needs to have an equalizer. My music sounds MUCH better when used with other apps. With out an equalizer, my music sounds extremely flat and dull. Phone Local System: When you make music available offline, I am assuming it it being stored somewhere on my device, locally. If not stored, at least cached somewhere (which is practically the same thing). The cahced/stored music should be accessible by other apps on the phone. (i.e. On the droid Razr Maxx, using Smart Actions allows you to extend convenience of the device, however, since Google's music player is my main player, I am unable to access any sort of playlist that I do have on the app) Headphones: Convenience would be lovely.

I love the simplicity, and smooth gui. I know there is bugs to iron out, like dup songs, but I have mess with it and found out if your running the app whilst modifing on your computer it may not update immediately. All I really want out of this app is a lock screen =) but it don't stop me from using it. Bluetooth sync with my car works fine, however it doesn't go back but does play,pause, ffw, but that's ok! =) I've had this app for 3+ months now from the beta to now... looovvvveeee it. Thanks google!!!

Sampled the "Google Music" process on a $0.25 album. Had to download the Google Play app, then it would not download directly to my phone(Droid 3). Had to use computer which is silly and then told I could only download it twice. No lock screen music player functions which means I will never use this at all except maybe purchase, cheap music. Google, you can do better. Amazon MP3 has you beat!

On mobile data or WIFI, songs always take longer to cache as more songs are streamed, eventually not playing anything at all after a while. Also, can the thumbs up, thumbs down feature be added to the lists view? this would be nice to quickly sort something based on thumbs up/downs, and sort and organize uploaded tracks on the website Play Music as well. WHAT WOULD BE EVEN BETTER, is to be able to delete and sync to the website from the app, delete from the app, and sync the app to the website. Just like how the Gmail app and website is! Oh yea, and the memory allocation SUCKS! I use ONE other program while this is running and the music goes wacko. :/

Not quite as feature rich as something like Poweramp, but for a large majority of listeners, it works great. The cloud storage is nice, but irrelevant on most modern devices with dozens of gigabytes of storage space. However, despite steaming from the clouds, it doesn't kill my battery like Pandora.

Hey idiots with the offline issues, the "offline copies" can only be played through Google Music, and anything you purchase is in the cloud unless you download it from the web or music manager and put it on your phone. Maybe if you read you'd realize that.

Needs media controls from lock screen and more customization. Shuffle could use a fix so it won't play the same song 2 or 3 times in a row on small albums. Great for just being out of beta though. Also could be a bit faster.

Alright, this is the best app on the market hands down. But it does need a lot of work. Let us delete music! There are files showing up that arent even songs! Also, whenever i click the headphone icon in the top left, it locks my phone and turns the screen off. Other than that, there are only a few bugs and the app is great.

When my Evo updated the Market to Google Play Store, all of my music on my SD card, HTC & Amazon Music players got deleted! All of my pictures & videos are gone, too! I'm crying! WTF? I hate you, Google! Update: My music & pictures were on the SD card when I connected to my laptop, but my phone's gallery & HTC Music Player says "Insert SD/No Images Found," when the SD is inserted. Nice to have all my music with me where ever I go. It is easy to use and the quality is good when streaming. Nice option to make music available offline. The only thing that could be added is a simple equalizer. I have beats and I would really like to bring out the bass. Otherwise great app!

It won't allow me to play music sometimes, and since I ude my phone for almost all my music it really screws with things. Google really produced a giant piece problem of an app with this. Sometimes when I try to open the app when I click on it it opens up a different app. The only way to fix is to delete the app and reinstall it. Its still a matter of time again until it does it again

I find this app difficult to use and just tedious. The commands are difficult to find. Why do I have to go through and check all my songs or albums so that I can listen to it off line. Of course I want to be able to listen to it 'off line'. Seriously, does anyone know if I can put the songs I have purchased off of Google Play onto my iPod? If not, I have wasted my money. App uses much more bandwidth than Slacker or Pandora. As a result, if I don't have excellent signal strength, the app can't stream full songs without stopping to buffer more data. Other times, it just stops playing for no reason and I have to force close the app manually in order to get it to play again. Verizon, Droid X.

All it needs is the option to choose what ever song, album, or artist to an instant queue without having to make and save a playlist. Love that it automatically syncs with the music on my computer, but one thing that drives me absolutely crazy is that when I use shuffle on a playlist it will Play some songs 2 or 3 times and other songs not at all!!! Also it would be great if it would create a playlist or somehow differentiate songs that are stored in different folders on the computer. It also seems that you cannot remove a thumbs up on the phone unless you thumbs down the song. Finally it also needs to sync music stored on the phone

Pretty disappointing effort Google. Upload process is a bear. Album art does not import correctly and the only way to correct is manually. To do so you have to manually find or download the album art image...there is no automated sync process to clean up. Only way to remove an album or artist is one song at a time...only way to add a song is by album/or artist folders. Very poor user interface. widget blows. The only reason I use this music player is so I can easily listen to my google music on my phone. I would rather use some other music player like Winamp or something for my local music. This wouldn't be so bad if the UI wasn't so sloppy, its almost as if it was just thrown together in a day. The Google Music web page on a PC is clean and polished, but this needs some work. Normally Google does a much better job. Please fix.

Overall, this app is great! Being able to have all of my music in one spot without having to buy an isomething is wonderful! I really wish that we could actually close the app instead of just pausing. Every now and then I accidentally open the app and end up with music blaring sometimes in inappropriate places. I also think the search function needs some work. For instance, if I search for a song, I can't go to the rest of the artists songs.

*Pros: I can store my entire music collection in the cloud and stream it from anywhere. No ads that I know of. *Cons: The UI is just a little tricky but not bad after you get used to it. Lacks the ability to see my notification bar and its missing a native exit button. Right now I have to hit pause and then press the back button several times to exit. *Overview: If I had the option to see my notification bar, exit the program entirely and maybe have a stop button. This would be a 5 star app no problem.

Works great for having my whole collection with me at work or on the road. My only real complaints are that downloading individual songs as opposed to whole albums from my library to my phone isn't very intuitive, and the shuffle isn't very good. If I make a playlist with 120 or so songs it seems to play the same 15 or 20 songs repeatedly. Sometimes the same song is played again with only one song between.

This app is terrible. It will not sync to my iTunes account, so all the music I have downloaded either through Amazon or iTunes doesn't show in Google Play. I thought this was supposed to free up space on my SD card, but really it uses more than it frees up. I would love this app...IF it would just sync the songs from my iTunes & allow them to play in Google Play. But it won't, & it doesn't. It is a big waste of space. I'm uninstalling it today.

Google Play Music does a great job of playing any music downloaded from the Market, HOWEVER, it won't play locally stored mp3 or flac files stored on my SD card, nor will it upload my music collection from my phone or tablet. Offline music is only available using this app. I cannot export to USB to play in my car or other devices. f you don't use anything but one device 4 stars - if you're iSheeple type then this is a good app. If you want to play your purchased music on another device then this is not the app for you to use to buy music.

Subscription music has really caught on for me, even though the Spotify app for Android still looks like it was designed for Cupcake. Google Music, on the other hand, has a slick interface, and is handy for having my music collection available anywhere. This new icon is way too similar to the one for Google Listen. . . . The new icon and name are extremely tacky. Also the webapp has way too many disjointed elements. The top is a nice cool grey, but the deals have an ugly black background. Also the gloss on the icons is terrible, Apple is best known for having overly glossy icons on iOS, don't bring that to Android. Please do change it back.

Good News - Google Music lets you stream your own music for free. Bad News- It has tons of glitches and will screw up your library and when you contact Google, they say "we know - those are known issues" like every other Android problem. Playlists gets screwed up, songs get multiplied mysteriously, metadata, cover art etc is all messed up. Even when things are correct on the Google Music Manager on the web, they still somehow manage to get messed up on the app on your device. Its just one frustration after another with Google Play and Music. Im ready for an iPhone and no more problems.

Up to 20k songs on my phone? An intuitive interface? Awesome. But this app does not seem to be built for the way that I listen to music. It always has a pause between songs (even if they're local) and selecting a specific song will not play the next song on the album next. Lastly, I cannot play playlists based on a song from the screen that pops up - I am forced to select the particular playlist from a list and play it from there. Good app, a couple of annoyances that commonly occur.

The widget is an eyesore - Google has a thing or two to learn about quality design aesthetics. Inability to crossfade or preload (meaning a song will hit a wall of silence when switching albums or playlists) makes it virtually unusable in social settings. The cloud storage is excellent but that should be held separate from the mobile app itself which detracts from the overall experience.

If you install the Google music app on your pc, then you can download your purchased music. It will download as a zip file. Just unzip and you will have your mp3 s. Android app needs work.

This is an awesome app. I love it. Found a program to download audio files from youtube, so I'm loving this. Couldn't care any less for the name change, but, the app itself is good. I wish the screen wouldn't turn off when I'm actively listening to the music. Also, wish the desktop manager allowed me to download specific songs, not just the entire library. The cloud service great and so is the app. Put it on my computer and had it so it uploaded all my music from iTunes, then I went on my other computer and streamed them. Then I went back on my tablet and downloaded them and streamed and a few with no problems. It even holds up to 20,000 songs for free.

Love the app. I use it daily. Noticed a rapid decrease in battery life since update yesterday on my t-mobile galaxy s2. Anyone else have this issue? Also google music has trouble differentiating greatest hits albums. Hard to find songs because multiple artists are grouped together in that respect.

Lock screen disappears after pause or doesn't work properly when you try to start up the music again. More important however, if I stop a song and close the program, the next time I get a call and end the call, that song begins playing again. Very unsatisfactory! Also, please add a back (<<) button for the widget!

Still can't store all my songs offline and play them. This is a waste of my time and causing me to waste money. I don't want to have to and shouldn't have to use up my data just to play the music I already paid for. The music play that came with my phone is better than this. I will be using it and Amazon Mp3 from now on. At least everything I purchase on there I can store and listen to Off-line.

How do you get 80 GB of music on a 16GB phone? This. I don't stream music, just use this to swap music on/off the phone. Settings to use WiFi only are dead simple-won't overload your data plan. Interface is slick. It is taking forever to upload my 16,000 songs, but that's more of an issue with my ISP, isn't it? Thinking this will be stock in coming android versions... System integration (volume button track skips, widgets, etc...) would make this perfect.

This is a pretty good app in general but it has one major problem for me. When I shuffle songs (all on cloud), it tends to repeat songs instead of shuffle. Some time it actually goes to a different song, but more than often it just gets stuck on the same song and keeps repeating (and no i don't have repeat turned on). Please fix this!

Can't stream music to phone either by 3G or WiFi. Reinstalled App and now it doesn't see any of my music. App is annoying (stupid scroll at top rather than seeing all options)and frustratingly limited in scope. Can't rate. No 'most played.' No 'Gesture Search' Is only able to pull about 1% of album artwork. No way to log into your library or other's libraries. Doesn't update when you add music. 20K songs max needs to be improved upon.

I really love the idea of this. I'm wanting to be a big fan of Google Music but there are a few things that are hard to look over. 1) I could use a little extra volume. Not a lot, just a little bit more. 2) Having trouble deleting artist I don't want. They keep popping back up. I did just discover that it works with my earphones so I can skip songs forward and back. This may be a sporadic issue, but the settings option isn't appearing in the app when you click the menu button, only shuffle and search, and I have a music beta account. Tried everything but a system reset. I have read of others having mixed results. Some get fixed after a reboot, others after a reset. Shouldn't be this difficult.

The app is great. I love being able to have my entire music collection available to me without having to buy a bigger SD card, or filling up my current one. There are quite a few bugs. For instance, some songs will repeat even when repeat is turned off. Some songs don't always buffer correctly. No lockscreen integration like the normal Music app. Google has a long way to go as far as this app is concerned, but it's a great start. Keep it up. Device: DROID X2

I love Google Music as much as the next audiophile and uploading (and updating) my iTunes library is painless. But although the app is nice to look at and functions well, it is sometimes quite slow and there have been a few times where it would skip a song (or two). The lack of lockscreen controls keep this app from being my go-to music player. Also, my DROIDX running 2.3 has rebooted a couple of times while playing a song. Until these annoyances are fixed I will still use the default music player.

I was ready to completely give up and give a horrible review until I decided to try restarting -- which worked splendidly. Overall I really like the UI and the idea behind Music by google. One of the problems I have been facing is that the app runs sluggish on the EVO 4g. When scrolling though my library locally it should feel smooth and fluent, but the app is not really delivering when it comes to that. But other than that, other improvements such as an EQ, and a desktop client would be really nice. A client that organizes my music and updates my albums with information. But great service :)

Music manager for Music Beta wasn't reading mp3 tags correctly so the library showed up as a mess on the app. Worked around the tagging, deleted all my music an re-uploaded it to work. Really love the player/widget/UI, but it doesn't have a few things that some of the other music apps have (settings menu...?). It'd be nice to have a lock screen that displays the music controls so you don't have to unlock your phone every time to change the song. Also wish you could make it the "default" player for the headset controls. Right now when I click the button on the headphones it opens up the stock music player.

The program works really great. It loads songs very quickly, and queuing an entire album is great. I would love, however to have an option to sort by genres, then in that tab sort by artist. Managing a 10,000 plus entry library is tough, and requires lots of filters. I would also love some lock screen controls. Keep up the good work!

looks nice, and I like the idea of Google music, but the app is buggy - songs repeat themselves, songs actually "skip" when streaming over 3G (like on a vinyl record!), albums randomly play out of order. Also seriously feature lite. No way to add music to the currently playing queue is the main missing one, the widget is so minimal its ridiculous, the thumbs-up feature from the browser version is missing too. Also the cool carousel is only for recently added music, why can't we browse all albums this way?

The app is great for syncing music to your phone and playing music on it. The benefits end there. I like to listen to the music stored on my phone through my phone on the go, but at home I want it on my stereo. The app is not forward thinking enough to include native dlna support - but it gets worse. Sync'd music is named with a number and stripped of id3 tags. As a result, even if I connect via 3rd party DLNA or Upnp to my phone from the xbox or stereo it is impossible to find a song/artist/album.

But i miss some function. - You must select each album seperatly to make it offline reachable on your device - You cant set the sd card as space to save the music - It will be nice when the downloaded music will save formated. eg. This is a great app, but it needs some more features, such as queuing a song to the "Now Playing" list, or playing it just after the current song. It would also be nice if it didn't group the songs with no album tag by the folder they are in. Overall, though, it's quite nice.

My only complaint is that on the Thunderbolt with stock ROM it repeats songs, it is an known issue and it doesn't happen with Cyanogenmod, so its the manufactures/providers fault with breaking Google's beautiful Android. (fingers crossed for a pure Android OS/phone) I have no issue with the app running slow and it was a lot smother on CM and had lock screen control. 4 stars for the repeating issue. ****Uploading from the phone would be sweet, too.***** ;)

Another feature poor app from Google. Why is using Google's apps like eating porridge. I want steak dammit! The stock music player has far more features. The main feature of this app is cloud storage. Really? No? Really? Memory is super cheap, and there's no recurring charges. I have over 800 songs loaded on my phone, with plenty of space to go. I'll stick with MixZing, and keep features like scrobbling, equalizer, lock-screen widgets, album art look-up, and auto-start when I plug in the headphones.

2 primary gripes i have is 1) it would be great if i could increase the bluetooth priority so the default music player doesnt randomly highjack my BT button presses, and 2) it'd be nice to be able to limit/forbid this from playing local files since its primary purpose is to stream my cloud content. I think it goes without saying that the UI could use some improvement, especially the widget, but i understand that G Music is still in Beta and has greater concerns (like scalability and uptime) at the moment.

There SERIOUSLY needs to be support for a "QuickList" or "Add to Now Playing List" feature. We need a way to be able to queue up our own quick mix! Not having this feature is a showstopper for any music player, in my opinion. Also, why can other developers implement the "Install to SD" feature for their apps, but google cant? They created it! Google music takes up well over 10 MB on my Aria, (which has limited space), 7MB without any configuration at all, and Google Plus takes up to 12!

The app seems to work very well on nexus one running android 2.3.4. The main issue is upload speed of songs from computer to "cloud". Took almost 2 full days to upload over 3100+ songs.

Good app but needs delete capability, should be able to long-press and have "delete" as an option while viewing music list, as well as, when playing a song via menu option. An enhancement to the widget is greatly needed. MixZing has a good widget design where music controls are available when phone returns from sleep mode. Because of this feature, I use MixZing over Google Music... Please add this type of functionality!

I really love the cloud integration if I could be patient enough to upload my music. When you compare this to the stock Music app (the app on Stock Android). I love the UI, but there needs to be more functional upgrades. There needs to be a lock screen and notification bar widget as functional as Sense with artwork and play controls. As far as in-app changes I would appreciate better scrubbing, EQ (10-band presets and custom) and artwork like Poweramp.

not a bad start...but not amazing. Stores songs locally with a number like 1234.mp3, no tags on it. This makes it annoying if you want to play them with something else, like using the phone as a usb device in your car.

I got the 16GB samsung galaxy tab 10.1 and I use music Beta. Its awesome! I just pick a random artist to fall asleep to at night, and since I only purchased the 16GB version I don't have to worry about using up all the space on music files I don't listen to everyday. There is an option to select which song files / artists you do want available offline. Good for driving in a car, or sitting out at the pool. Love this App.

sound quality over BT is weal compared to stock player (even with EQ set to flat). hijacks BT button presses, even if default player is already playing. laggy switching between local and "cloud" tracks. with my Samsung Fascinate and my BT equipped Dual car stereo, the stock player works perfect ... as soon as the phone connects, i hit play on stereo, music plays. pause, ff and rw work perfectly. with the gmb app, not so much. uninstalled for now.

The app is great for syncing music to your phone and playing music on it. The benefits end there. I like to listen to the music stored on my phone through my phone on the go, but at home I want it on my stereo. The app is not forward thinking enough to include native dlna support - but it gets worse. Sync'd music is named with a number and stripped of id3 tags. As a result, even if I connect via 3rd party DLNA or Upnp to my phone from the xbox or stereo it is impossible to find a song/artist/album.

Great app. In theory, it does (will eventually do) what I want it to. Right now, it has a habit (and confirmed from a Google group thread) of deleting offline music (or the database gets corrupt, or whatever) when you connect your phone (Galaxy S2) to your computer in USB mode. I've had to redownload my music again after doing this. Hopefully Google will fix this. Once that's done, I'll be a very satisfied customer.

I use this on both of my devices and it is THE BEST MUSIC app EVER. I can listen to all my music FLAWLESSLY! Another google genius. One thing would be to add a streaming option similar to Spotify to listen to those songs that we don't have and interplay with G+ account that would be really cool. This may be a sporadic issue, but the settings option isn't appearing in the app when you click the menu button, only shuffle and search, and I have a music beta account. Tried everything but a system reset. I have read of others having mixed results. Some get fixed after a reboot, others after a reset. Shouldn't be this difficult.

I first got google music beta a while ago and it didn't work on my archos 43 (I know it's not supported officially; and it turns out it was something archos had to fix). Then I was limited to 2,000 songs and well I kinda thought it would suck. However now this app works on my A43 (although not my other phone but hey). any who you have solved this thing with syncing music across devices and you have even bested apple as far as the cloud. Thank you so much, I actually feel bad I almost lost some hope there!

Love Google Music I can't really think of anything bad about it right now besides that it does not have a lock screen control for when a song is playing. This would be helpful so when you press the power button you would see the song playing and some basic controls. It is not needed but very helpful.

Really love the player/widget/UI, but it doesn't have a few things that some of the other music apps have (settings menu...?). It'd be nice to have a lock screen that displays the music controls so you don't have to unlock your phone every time to change the song. Also wish you could make it the "default" player for the headset controls. Right now when I click the button on the headphones it opens up the stock music player.

The app is great. I love being able to have my entire music collection available to me without having to buy a bigger SD card, or filling up my current one. There are quite a few bugs. For instance, some songs will repeat even when repeat is turned off. Some songs don't always buffer correctly. No lockscreen integration like the normal Music app. Google has a long way to go as far as this app is concerned, but it's a great start. Keep it up. Device: DROID X2

I love Google Music as much as the next audiophile and uploading (and updating) my iTunes library is painless. But although the app is nice to look at and functions well, it is sometimes quite slow and there have been a few times where it would skip a song (or two). The lack of lockscreen controls keep this app from being my go-to music player. Also, my DROIDX running 2.3 has rebooted a couple of times while playing a song. Until these annoyances are fixed I will still use the default music player.

This app may work properly in the US with the Music service, but I've tried it in two different phones (Tattoo and Nexus S) with horrible results: - Cannot be uninstalled - Captures the hands-free button, no matter if you have another app running. - No way to remove "songs" from the library. I have many podcasts which I don't want in there. - Does not find purchased mp3, although it can play them via file explorer... this renders the app completely useless.

Music manager for Music Beta wasn't reading mp3 tags correctly so the library showed up as a mess on the app. Worked around the tagging, deleted all my music an re-uploaded it to work. Overall I really like the UI and the idea behind Music by google. One of the problems I have been facing is that the app runs sluggish on the EVO 4g. When scrolling though my library locally it should feel smooth and fluent, but the app is not really delivering when it comes to that. But other than that, other improvements such as an EQ, and a desktop client would be really nice. A client that organizes my music and updates my albums with information. But great service :)

The program works really great. It loads songs very quickly, and queuing an entire album is great. I would love, however to have an option to sort by genres, then in that tab sort by artist. Managing a 10,000 plus entry library is tough, and requires lots of filters. I would also love some lock screen controls. Keep up the good work!

Until I restarted my phone, this app didn't find any music other than what was already on my phone and didn't have any setting options to work with. I was ready to completely give up and give a horrible review until I decided to try restarting -- which worked splendidly. looks nice, and I like the idea of Google music, but the app is buggy - songs repeat themselves, songs actually "skip" when streaming over 3G (like on a vinyl record!), albums randomly play out of order. Also seriously feature lite. No way to add music to the currently playing queue is the main missing one, the widget is so minimal its ridiculous, the thumbs-up feature from the browser version is missing too. Also the cool carousel is only for recently added music, why can't we browse all albums this way?

My only complaint is that on the Thunderbolt with stock ROM it repeats songs, it is an known issue and it doesn't happen with Cyanogenmod, so its the manufactures/providers fault with breaking Google's beautiful Android. (fingers crossed for a pure Android OS/phone) I have no issue with the app running slow and it was a lot smother on CM and had lock screen control. 4 stars for the repeating issue. ****Uploading from the phone would be sweet, too.***** ;)

Great layout, though lists often don't populate without stopping/restarting app service. Very sluggish. Constantly crashes my DroidX2 and forces it to reboot. old version did the same thing. Very annoying. Could use a screen-lock widget with better features. Integrated volume controls would be easier when charging in landscape (puts buttons underneath phone). Other reviews have great recommendations for improvements also. I'm currently looking for a better app.

This is a great app, but it needs some more features, such as queuing a song to the "Now Playing" list, or playing it just after the current song. It would also be nice if it didn't group the songs with no album tag by the folder they are in. Overall, though, it's quite nice.

2 primary gripes i have is 1) it would be great if i could increase the bluetooth priority so the default music player doesnt randomly highjack my BT button presses, and 2) it'd be nice to be able to limit/forbid this from playing local files since its primary purpose is to stream my cloud content. I think it goes without saying that the UI could use some improvement, especially the widget, but i understand that G Music is still in Beta and has greater concerns (like scalability and uptime) at the moment.

Very impressed by google and how they let you take advantage of their infinite space! lol it seems soon everything you do will be via google (if it isnt the case already) but honestly its a great app, i just gotta take the time to add more songs. but overall great app. Be cool if you guys could do a section like pandora to online stream music playlists or just youtube playlists rather than just what you upload (unless there is such a feature that i didnt stumble across yet). Another feature poor app from Google. Why is using Google's apps like eating porridge. I want steak dammit! The stock music player has far more features. The main feature of this app is cloud storage. Really? No? Really? Memory is super cheap, and there's no recurring charges. I have over 800 songs loaded on my phone, with plenty of space to go. I'll stick with MixZing, and keep features like scrobbling, equalizer, lock-screen widgets, album art look-up, and auto-start when I plug in the headphones.

This app is amazing, I use it all the time, however, when i select a song to be kept for offline play, it should be stored on the SD card, not the internal memory. There SERIOUSLY needs to be support for a "QuickList" or "Add to Now Playing List" feature. We need a way to be able to queue up our own quick mix! Not having this feature is a showstopper for any music player, in my opinion. Also, why can other developers implement the "Install to SD" feature for their apps, but google cant? They created it! Google music takes up well over 10 MB on my Aria, (which has limited space), 7MB without any configuration at all, and Google Plus takes up to 12!

I really love the cloud integration if I could be patient enough to upload my music. When you compare this to the stock Music app (the app on Stock Android). I love the UI, but there needs to be more functional upgrades. There needs to be a lock screen and notification bar widget as functional as Sense with artwork and play controls. As far as in-app changes I would appreciate better scrubbing, EQ (10-band presets and custom) and artwork like Poweramp.

Good app but needs delete capability, should be able to long-press and have "delete" as an option while viewing music list, as well as, when playing a song via menu option. An enhancement to the widget is greatly needed. MixZing has a good widget design where music controls are available when phone returns from sleep mode. Because of this feature, I use MixZing over Google Music... Please add this type of functionality!

sound quality over BT is weal compared to stock player (even with EQ set to flat). hijacks BT button presses, even if default player is already playing. laggy switching between local and "cloud" tracks. with my Samsung Fascinate and my BT equipped Dual car stereo, the stock player works perfect ... as soon as the phone connects, i hit play on stereo, music plays. pause, ff and rw work perfectly. with the gmb app, not so much. uninstalled for now.

The app seems to work very well on nexus one running android 2.3.4. The main issue is upload speed of songs from computer to "cloud". Took almost 2 full days to upload over 3100+ songs.

I got the 16GB samsung galaxy tab 10.1 and I use music Beta. Its awesome! I just pick a random artist to fall asleep to at night, and since I only purchased the 16GB version I don't have to worry about using up all the space on music files I don't listen to everyday. There is an option to select which song files / artists you do want available offline. Good for driving in a car, or sitting out at the pool. Love this App.

Great app, many bugs The app is great. I love being able to have my entire music collection available to me without having to buy a bigger SD card, or filling up my current one. There are quite a few bugs. For instance, some songs will repeat even when repeat is turned off. Some songs don't always buffer correctly. No lockscreen integration like the normal Music app. Google has a long way to go as far as this app is concerned, but it's a great start. Keep it up. Device: DROID X2

Works Great, few suggestions The program works really great. It loads songs very quickly, and queuing an entire album is great. I would love, however to have an option to sort by genres, then in that tab sort by artist. Managing a 10,000 plus entry library is tough, and requires lots of filters. It can't play an album without inserting gaps between each track. With music players, gapless isn't a feature; lack of gapless is a bug.

WINNING ! This app is great ! no wifi, you have phone music, have wifi/3g/4g you get cloud music. Interface is sweet. The PC Web App is a great iTunes/RythemBox clone. Nicely done Google.

Still in alpha Installed 3 times from the market - 3 times stuck on "application installed successfully" next to an icon saying "installing". Web-based market says "installed", while phone version claims it's still installing. No settings - can't sync with the cloud service. HUGE! Had to delete 10 apps to get on the phone, as it turns out for nothing...

Redefining Portable Music Google has made me change the way that I store music...and it's actually easier. I no longer am tied to a device or computer. I don't have to worry about a hard drive or a memory card corupting and losing all of my data again. Kudos Guys. Keep up the good work up Google Music Beta.

Much better than original Music Player! I was accepted to be part of the beta program, so I downloaded this to my phone. The differences between this and the original music app are day and night! More fluid and easier to navigate! Not to mention the cloud storage thanks to Google! It's a must have for all Android 2.2+ users!

Very Comprehensive, full of options, and functiona The Google Music player has lived up to the anticipation that came with waiting for the invite. Not only does it automatically detect the music on your PC but also gives the option to suggest free music based on your Genre of interest. The integration of the PC interface when synced with the Android App is seamless and synced up in seconds. WiFi connections or 4G are DEFINITELY preferred for the Android App but once your Google account is added in settings, the app immediately finds the library. 5 stars

Horrible Update-Shame on Google Lags a lot and is plagued with bugs. The menus are confusing and don't make sense. I don't like that you can't just start typing to search for a song you have to press the search button. If I press show options for shuffle and repeat most of the time they don't show up. I have to the song on the list to delete it which is stupid. Randomly chooses songs on its own. Still no recently played playlist. I would like to have the droid status bar available at the top to check messages while in the music menu.
