Exfoliate is easy to use. Here are the three simple steps:
1. Set your preferences. Indicate the age of the items you wish removed, from where (your wall and/or friends' walls) you want the items removed, and the type(s) of items you want removed (posts, comments, likes, photos).
2. Log in to your Facebook account using Exfoliate.
3. Start the automatic cleaning process.
Exfoliate uses web transactions to access and remove your unwanted content. To do this, Exfoliate requires that you log into your Facebook account from within Exfoliate. This login is not accessible to any other application on your device nor is it used for any purpose other than to delete the content matching your chosen preferences. Exfoliate communicates directly from your device to Facebook. Neither the makers of Exfoliate nor any third-party are ever presented with any of your data. On your device, Exfoliate saves only the minimum amount of data necessary to perform its functions and complete the process. With a single button, you can purge all of the saved data. Exfoliate, in short, completely respects your privacy. After all, privacy is Exfoliate's purpose.
Exfoliate will find and delete all the items matching your selections. Behind the scenes, this requires a large quantity of web transactions. This is due to limitations in Facebook's API, and Facebook throttling of users of apps. It is not due to issues in Exfoliate. Exfoliate is optimized to get its work done as quickly as possible while having minimum impact on your phone. To manage the impact, you can stop Exfoliate at any time, and restart Exfoliate later. Exfoliate, when restarted, will resume where it left off. Ideally, run Exfoliate when your device is plugged in. Also, Exfoliate may perform much faster on a WiFi network, so you may want to run it at home, through your WiFi, while you are asleep. If you have chosen to disallow background data transfers on your Android device, Exfoliate will not be able to function as designed. You can authorize Exfoliate to do its work despite this setting by enabling the “Allow Background” setting in Exfoliate advanced settings.
Exfoliate will likely take many hours, or even days, to complete its work. This can be especially true if you are fresh out of college, facing the job market with four years of forgotten social networking data scattered across hundreds of friends' walls. To make this long process more manageable, you can start and stop Exfoliate at any time. The next time you start it, it will resume where it left off unless you optionally delete all clean-up data. You may choose to limit what content you ask Exfoliate to delete so you can get more immediate results. For example, if you choose to clean only your wall, Exfoliate can complete its work fairly quickly. Cleaning your posts, comments, and likes off of your friends' walls is what takes the largest share of the time. By default, Exfoliate does this after completing the process on your own wall.
Facebook(tm) is a registered trademark of Facebook, Inc. Exfoliate and its makers are in no way affiliated with Facebook, Inc.
Recent changes:
- Photo Galleries can be cleaned separately.
- Faster than ever.
- Even less network data transfer (Exfoliate uses far less data transfer than doing deletion by hand or with "script" solutions.)
- Please report bugs to exfoliate.help@gmail.com

The unfortunate truth of today’s world is that many of you are job hunting. Potential employers, looking to hire someone who doesn’t spend Friday to Sunday double fisting drinks at seedy underground clubs, are increasingly opting to do some online research about their potential hires. This made Michael Devine uneasy, so much so that he used his programming skills to write a $3 Android app called Exfoliate. Once enabled you can set it to delete your Facebook wall posts, likes, comments, even posts you’ve left on friend’s walls, that are older than a user specified time period. The person you are now is likely not the person you were 2 or 3 years ago, yet Facebook knows exactly what you were up to back then. Run Exfoliate, and Facebook no longer has that data. Devine says: “When you really think about it, it becomes clear that there’s actually no reason to

Facebook’s new timeline profile encourages users of the social network to share more of their past. Exfoliate, a new app for the Android platform, basically functions as the anti-timeline. Exfoliate allows users to automatically remove content from Facebook, simply by specifying the type of content to be deleted, and which date to start from. The app costs $2.99. Users can choose to purge their own posts, comments, and likes, as well as any of those three types of content that were posted to their page by their friends, or that they posted to their friends’ pages. The developers of Exfoliate claim that although users must log in to Facebook to begin the process, neither they, nor anyone else, will ever gain access to any personal data. Be warned, however: Exfoliate is a huge battery hog. This comes from its description on the Android Market: Exfoliate will find and delete all of

Everybody has heard horror stories of the Facebook past of job applicants coming back to haunt them. In fact, a large proportion of final year students will now be trying to figure out how to expunge the unsuitable-for-work comments, photos and updates they have accumulated on their profiles and walls of friends. It is no easy task. The Wall Street Journal reports. Devines Android app, called Exfoliate, allows you to delete batches of posts based on how long theyve been up. For instance, you can have it remove posts that are older than three months and various time periods up to three years. You can clean just your wall, or also remove posts from friends walls. And the kind of content you can select for removal includes your posts, comments and likes
As it is, CNET warns, the app is a bandwidth hog which takes several hours on a Wi-Fi network.

Yes! And this feature doesn't come with facebook. Hint hint Google!!!
ian
Awesome This is such a great app! Works just as it says. On cm7 og evo and tiamat kernel, runs like a dream doesn't affect battery at all.
Lindsay
Great app! Such an awesome idea. Does exactly what it says - capable and relatively quick. Took about 24 hours to delete my posts older than 3 months. Didn't find it to hog/drain network or battery resources much at all. Super responsive dev. Very happy with this app!!
Walter
Excellent premise, lacks a couple features The app doesn't appear to remove tags from photos that aren't yours you're tagged in, nor does it delete your messaging history. Otherwise, fantastic!
Luly
Uses alot of data and takes forever Let it run for 3 days straight and it never finished 100%. Also used a crapload of data. It did delete alot of junk but again not everything.
Dave
It's been working for a week now. Hope it finishes soon
Great Keep updates coming please

Good idea, room for improvement. I like the program, but it uses a lot of bandwith though, but the author warns us about it. Better if I could choose friends to ignore.
James
Great Does what it says but runs a little slow
Michel
Works great, mostly Although it took a couple days for it to run, I was able to delete four years of my old posts. It didn't clean up my picture galleries, though.
Sascha
Works well! App works perfectly, thanks for the great update.
Brad
Getting stuck Long-standing problem of exfoliate getting stuck on a specific account still exists. Please fix!
Tarik
Great idea! Works great. Don't have to worry about the junk I put on fb anymore. Glad this exists since fb doesn't make wiping data easy
