Advanced Task Killer is also known as ATK. It is a tool to kill applications running.

-Customize item heightATK is often used to kill app and clean memory. We do suggest people use ATK manually kill apps instead of auto killing app.
1. How to use it (for new users to quick start)?
ATK is pretty simple. Open this tool and take a look at the running applications list? Uncheck some apps you don't want to kill (such as Advanced Task Killer and some system apps) Tap the button 'Kill selected apps', it will kill all applications checked.
2. How to use it (for new users to do more)?
If you don't want to kill any app, you can tap it on the running applications list. Then it's checking box will turn to gray.
3. Why there are app running that I haven't used or even opened?
Some app will start up once you turn on your phone or be invoked by some evens.
4. What is ignore list/ignore?
Ignore list is for you to ignore some app you don't want to kill. If you long press on the app listed on the main screen of ATK, the menu will pop up, then you can select 'Ignore', the application would be moved to ignore list. When you tap 'Kill selected apps', it won't be killed any more.
5. What is default action for long press?
You can set your default action for long press and click on the settings. The system default action for long press is pop-menu. That means you when you long press on the application(displays on the running applications list), a pop-menu would shows up. For example, if you want to switch to the application after you long press on it, you can set the default action of long press to 'Switch to'.
6. Why I lost my network connection after I tap 'kill selected apps'?
This is because some apps related with network connection are killed. Such as 'voicemail'. You can ignore it instead of killing it.
7. Why my Home reloaded?
This is because some apps related with Home are killed. Such as 'HTC Sense', 'Mail'(if it is integrated with Home). You can ignore it instead of killing it.
8. Why I cannot receive notification of Email?
This is because you killed 'Email'. Instead of killing it, you need to ignore it.
9. What is Auto Kill?
If you want to kill apps automatically you need to choose one of auto-kill level
- Safe: Only kill the apps aren't running but still consume memory.
- Aggressive: Kill the apps running background and apps aren't running.
- Crazy: All apps except for apps you are using with.
You should be able to see Auto Kill information shows on the title, like 'Auto-Kill: 12:20'. That means auto kill will start at 12:20, you can also change the frequency to impact the auto kill start time.
App killer is only a tool to kill apps and task. It won't help your battery directly. But if you kill any app which consume battery a lot, you might think app killer is helping your battery.
Advanced Task Killer Pro is paid version which doesn't contain ads.

Works perfect free'd up amost 300mb which keeps my galaxy note running fast. To be honest 1 gb of ram is not enough for a smartphone. If you have less its even worse. We need all smart phones to have atleast 2gb. That would be the only way you wouldn't need this program. But if you have 1gb or less this is a MUST have to keep your phone running fast. Cheers

If you have android 2.2+ (froyo+), you do NOT NEED A TASK KILLER! The battery life improvement is non-existent and purely cosmetic. The applications this app closes are already using next to no battery. Android 2.2+ Manages tasks for you! Why do people even bother using this?

I used to have a Samsung fascinate which came with a built in task manager, but when I switched to the Droid Bionic I realized that there wasn't one in the phone. So after downloading this app its just as good. I recommend this to everyone who doesn't have a task manager built in.

Works wonderfully... tried half a dozen task killers,but they always had a force close issue when I attempted to use them. ATK is the only app killer to work perfectlt. Has an efficient layout too!

I hear so many rumors saying that this app is a battery killer. It actually is not. What you have to do is set auto kill OFF and uncheck the app that run on the phone automatically such as voicemail, calender etc. It's only about 4 things. Other than that it will kill like browser or games that you have open. I love this app!

I've been using this for a while, and have got to say that this is a must-have App for everyone. Whether you're a casual user or a gaming junkie. It does as it claims to do, and does it well. I'd suggest an aesthetic rehaul of the widget though. A nice new futuristic design, to look even better on ICS. :D

When it comes to such programs, i'm indifferent to say the least. In my experience they all share similar faults, they are all extremely similar, and they all tend to perform much better if you shell out the dough for the full app, but I guess that's the point., in closin, if you're looking for a *descent* FREE task killer, hit download. It does what it says it does, but it comes at the cost of battery life. Phone went from 100 to 40 percent after a full days use. I started this app and the phone dies in 4 hours. Thus needs to be fixed.

I have my kill level set to "aggressive" and it autokills every 30 minutes, and my phone performance has performed a LOT. It also helps the battery last a little longer too. Definitely recommended

If your phone runs anything from 2.2 on, you do not need a task killer. Do a little research before you buy into the whole notion that automatically killing everything on your phone every few minutes will save you battery life.

App is very useful. Saves phone battery by approx 75%. Droid3 used to have to charge after 10-12 hours, but now lasts 30+ hours before requiring charge (depending on activity and roaming). Love it!!!

You have to restart your phone and make sure to ignore every single process that started up, even the bloatware! Trust me. These processes need to be kept running, because they just restart anyway. The kill all widget should only be used when the apps build up too quickly and you need ram freed. Trust me. Use it any other way and your phone will be crapped out!

This is one of the few of its kind that can actually kill its own process when you select EXIT from the app menu. I checked using the Android system and found out that many other similar task killers leave their main process running after "closing" their own app, taking up 15-25 megs of RAM with no way to kill their own process! This app doesn't have that issue. It's designed properly.

ATK mostly worked like it said it should, but after researching online I learned Android phones do not need task killers. like Luke said below: "Anyone that thinks this app is helping save their battery has no idea how Android works. Android keeps recent apps in RAM to make it easier to switch between them, but the RAM uses up very little battery. In fact, when you "kill" an app, another app will just open up in RAM, which will use CPU and actually drain the battery."

After using this to kill all the apps, except ATK, not even five minutes later, it shows alot of them up and running again. So I kills the apps and the process repeats itself. Maybe it saves some battery like but why does it allow the apps to start again if I havent started them? It seems to that the older version made my battery last longer, before they started using the Green highlighted tasks too.

Well there is this debate as to whether have a task killer installed in your android phone as it goes against the principle of android OS blah blah blah... i love this program. Though i don't set the scheduler to kill program i use it often when i want to free up memory and it has done its job fantastically well so far.

If you are on Android 2.2 and up this app doesn't help. Android can smartly kill apps you don't use anymore. By killing apps that are open it takes longer to open them again

I put all the polite that dont ever bog the phone down and always run at 0% or very close like Gmail when you use another app to fectch mail. My mail app ect in my ignore list. I pull up various programs during my heavy usage. When I am done I use it to FC the apps that will stay closed and exit auto kill mode. I would like to have a phone like CobraBK thinks he has. We should be able to turn off WiFi. When you look you will see it draws more than 5% running in the back ground. Unfortonately you cant kill it because it just restarts. I am stuck putting this power sucking thing on my ignore list. I almost never get near a WiFi tower.

Since my European galaxy note received an update, it wreaks havok on my phone as soon as i open it. Battery gets firey hot, and it resets my phone after frying half of its charge. Its served me well but i can't keep it now :( giving 5 stars though, but please fix.

Anyone that thinks this app is helping save their battery has no idea how Android works. Android keeps recent apps in RAM to make it easier to switch between them, but the RAM uses up very little battery. In fact, when you "kill" an app, another app will just open up in RAM, which will use CPU and actually drain the battery.

I use this all the time, I have the widget on my home screen and all's you have to do is tap it and it shuts down running apps in the background. To the people who say they have to end apps 10 times a day, this isn't made to keep those apps from opening on they're own. It's made to simple turn them off, which it does so it does what it's supposed to do.

A lot of people complain about this app but it works well for me. All you need to do is tweak some of the settings and read what it says. And it says some apps will restart because they're run by the system. You can easily add apps to an ignore list to prevent from closing them as well. I use the browser and exit properly when I'm done, however, the browser is still in the ram. I use this app to clean my memory and I frickin' love how useful it is. There's also an option to build a recommended ignore list.

Perfect app if you know how to use it. Highly reccomend setting up a good ignore list for the obvious applications like mail and running widgets or they will stop working properly. Best not to use auto kill but rather use the widget for better control. Consistently keeps my memory free and my android running smoothly.

To people who say this app is unnecessary... you may be right in a perfect world where all apps are tidy and well-behaved, and have no bugs. But the typical Android user is sophisticated and has installed dozens, maybe hundreds, of apps. A certain percentage of these apps do some questionable things or (could it be?) have bugs. I'm a developer and know it's not hard to accidentally leave a stray thread running...

This app does nothing meaningful for you. Android keeps applications RAM resident as a means of handling multitasking. If an app is in ram does not mean it's eating battery. If the OS needs to reclaim memory, it will close those apps itself. Let the operating system do it's job. Do not use this app.

Hey @CobraBK, You must have one of those new Android phones with dual core and more than 256MB memory, because without this, my Motorola Droid (original) becomes nearly unusable with all the background apps taking up CPU and memory. Not perfect, but at least now my battery usually lasts almost all day long.

I do not understand why this app is still popular. The idiots at the cell phone sales floor still tell people to use it but the Android OS handles task management properly ever since version 2.2+. If you have 2.2 and above, DO NOT USE! Just because a program shows as "open" does not mean it is killing the battery. Idle programs are just like they are on the iPhone. They are listening for push calls from the C2DM servers to notify you of new messages. Do not kill these tasks! You DO NOT need ATK FFS!!!

I do not understand why this app is still popular. The idiots at the cell phone sales floor still tell people to use it but the Android OS handles task management properly ever since version 2.2+. If you have 2.2 and above, DO NOT USE! Just because a program shows as "open" does not mean it is killing the battery. Idle programs are just like they are on the iPhone. They are listening for push calls from the C2DM servers to notify you of new messages. Do not kill these tasks! You DO NOT need ATK FFS!!!

Made my Droid X a Brick... I cannot make a call, it access any other apps on my Droid X. I cannot stop this app from running. It will not allow me to access my setting so I can uninstall this app. My phone is useless at this moment. I will have to reset my phone to factory specs via a Verizon store. What a useless app for me. I know it is this app that is causing the problem because i have not installed any app on my phone in a while. Right after installing this app my phone stated acting strange. Now i can't use it at all. MAD AS!

I've used this since day one, works great! The only word of advice I have for people is if you set an alarm you have to ignore "Clock." Great app!

App is only as good as nothing. Phone will tell u what apps are running if u change settings. Doing so shows that this app randomly picks other apps.
